Learned this weekend during a rowdy game of Taboo that the extra skin on your elbow is called your wenis. Who knew?

This sounds closely related to Sniglets, words that aren´t in the dictionary, but should be.

Flabalanche   What happens when a fat guy loosens his belt

Discolexic - a person who likes music by the "Gee Bees"

Purpitation - v. To take something off the grocery shelf, decide you don´t want it, and then put it in another section.

Squalkeenus (skwal ke´ nus) - n. The shock syndrome that comes from biting into a popsicle with one´s front teeth.

Voitlock (voyt´ lok) - n. When the basketball gets lodged between the rim and the backboard.

Anencephalic.

#3, wenis. That is my laugh of the day. I´ve been been calling people that for years. I always used it as an uncomplimentary jab. Who knew it was a real word? Ha!

# 2 word (Vagitus) is not what I thought it was.

They mention tintinnabulation, the ringing of bells. They left out Rintintinnabulation, the barking of a German Shepherd.

Very enjoyable article, and I recognized a few of the names like tintinnabulation and souffle cup.

But when I read #15: Misophonia which is described as ´´Getting mad at someone for eating or breathing too loudly (among other things). It´s also a brain disorder.´´ I was shocked by the recognition that I´ve had a moderate form of that malady since I was a pre-teen! I didn´t know there was a name for it! I did some research and discovered that something I thought was my own strange, embarrassing, maddening quirk (that only my closest family members and husband know about-- well, and now l.dotters) is something that many others experience and struggle with.

I passed the list on to my daughter in college who is a creative writing major. Thought maybe she could use some of them.

A couple of medical conditions found only in an old country doctor´s PDR:

Opticitus - an entanglement involving the optic nerve and the lower intestine resulting in a rather nasty outlook on life. (sometimes described to the patient in more graphic language depending on gender and age)

Sedimentary ferrousis - a middle age malady where the iron in the blood changes to lead and settles in ones buttocks. (very prevalent in middle management vocations)

I took a few moments off from checking the tightness of my aiglets and polishing my lunules for the article and thread....

Word #9 will shortly be obsolete. The word "Obama" trumps it, of course. "Obama" can replace several other words, too.
