The Washington Post has been greatly embarrassed by the fact that its local editor Vernon Loeb was the ghost writer for the David Petraeus biography by Paula Broadwell and admits he was “clueless” about their sexual relationship. The paper is now making up for lost time. On Thursday, the Post published an article that debunked claims by Petraeus, who was Obama’s CIA director, that he had never given Broadwell classified information. The story by Carol D. Leonnig, Sari Horwitz and Anne Gearan reveals that Petraeus aides and other high-ranking military officials were often tasked by Petraeus
Now it is safe for the post to take control of the tragedy/debacle of benghazi and steer it into the safe waters of soap-opera affairs. Why the ambassador was repeatedly stripped of security, ordered into al qaeda controlled area, and watched, over a nine hour period, be slaughtered, will never be addressed. And that is exactly what dumb-as-mud voters deserve and will get from now on. The voters have said what they will tolerate and it is a combination of the old USSR and Nazi Germany.
OBAMA: Benghazi Petraeus Benghazi Petraeus. Will it ever stop? Tell me again why I wanted another term. JOE BIDEN: You gotta finish the job makin´ everybody in America equally miserable, Boss. OBAMA: Jay, how many news conferences have I held since January 2009? CARNEY: Um, maybe twelve, sir. OBAMA: Ok. Inform the networks to start reruns next week. Prime time. One every two months until they run out. Gives me a two year breather. BIDEN: Smart, Chief. Questions are always the same and so are your nothingburger answers. Nobody´ll notice. Meanwhile, you´ll appear engaged. CARNEY: Along the same lines, sir, my Q and A tussles with reporters are getting to me. From now on, at noon, I´ll make a five minute statement in the press room. It´ll list on the schedule as my daily uh, brief. DAVID AXELROD: Benghazi, double-dip recession, tax hikes, increasing unemployment, ObamaCare horror stories--sir, maybe you´d better get out of town until it all blows over or people accept things as the new normal. OBAMA: Going abroad through 2016? I can´t. . . . DAVID PLOUFFE: You must, sir, if you want a third term. Remember, you can´t be criticized when you´re on foreign soil. VALERIE JARRETT: You´ve done more damage to the country in one term than you ever dreamed possible, Barack. Take a break, wind down. We can manage the decline until you get back. OBAMA: Well, I could do a global golf goodwill tour, set a goal to play in every country in the world with a golf course. That should take about four years and give the lie to people who say I have no agenda.
First leg of the world goodwill golf tour is already underway, #4. Biden said he already has his vacay itinerary planned for the second term--first stop: Ireland. Biden noted that O wants to accompany him to golf there.
So, to cover their embarrassment as being exposed for lies of omission and the supposed ´discovery´ of their ghost writer, the editors at WaPo go after Petreaus in an attempt to make him the only bad guy here. .... Yes, of course. It´s more of that ´finger pointing´ thing practiced in Marxism.
Why is no one asking the primary question and that is why was our Ambassador in Benghazi without proper security in place on September 11th when it was known to be a hotbed of terrorist activity. Unfortunately, the truth will never see the light of day because it leads right up to the Oval Office and the media will never let a scintilla of scandal touch the first black President. The corruption of this country runs deep and I fear some of our "leaders" are guilty as well. DC is a cesspool that good hardworking Americans don´t deserve. Our politicians have failed to uphold their oath of office and it is time to do something about it. America needs men and women of honor and character to stand up and be counted on this matter regardless of the consequences. It is probably too much to hope for because they would have to actually do what is right when they are more concerned with protecting their power, money, pension and perks that go along with their job.
I think #4 has a bug planted somewhere or maybe he has a WH Insider? I also agree with #9 that laughing makes the sad reality more bearable.
House Republicans should be focused like a lazer beam on one thing for the next four years until the truth finally comes out - Benghazi, Benghazi, Benghazi.
If military aides to Petraeous helped in giving Broadwell sensitive documents, then they should be hauled before Congress. The same for anyone around General Allen and Jill Kelley. Republicans have to say "enough is enough". America needs to see and hear the same kind of attention the Pubbies paid to Nixon and Watergate (where no one died when he lied). If Republicans can bring down a President from their own party, they surely can find the intestinal fortitude (aka balls) to at least tie the hands of a fraudulently-elected Democrat President!
Bingo, #13. I´ve asked about this too. Uncover the real reason why our Amb and the former SEAL/CIA contractors were in that particular town on that particular day, and you´ll learn why the The Won and his admin went to such lengths to lie to us.
The Post was derelict in not getting at this story earlier. Their audience is not just us. Now more of the public will know. They will know what Petraeus did. They will know what the Obama administration did to cover it up.
And they will also know that the campaign to make Jill Kelley look bad (including that farce about her FBI friend´s shirtless photo) was to detract from what she did to begin the unraveling of this sorry tale.
Jill Kelley told her FBI friend (described in this article as "the FBI whistleblower), who had a stellar record with the agency, and he told superiors who initiated the investigation. When he saw the investigation going nowhere, he got word to Eric Cantor via an aide.
Because she is a flashy dresser, a Lebanese (OMG - no one noticed she is a Maronite Catholic Leganese), pushy, not subtle enough for most tastes, self-promoting, many did just what they were supposed to do and joined in trashing her. The Obama media´s campaign against her worked.
Hopefully that campaign will not keep the whistleblower FBI agent´s integrity intact (he has accumulated a lot of fine achievements in his career, of which this is another) and the investigation will be ongoing.
Obie was elected. But other presidents have not finished their second terms.
Hopefully that campaign will not keep the whistleblower FBI agent´s integrity from remaining intact (he has accumulated a lot of fine achievements in his career, of which this is another) and the investigation will be ongoing.
Do you think the Republicans are going to do anything on this? THEY want it to go away more than the Donks. The Donks have barrels of ink to pour over Behghazi and those murdered men. The GOP has---nothing except that the Donks have buckets of ink to pour over benghazi, drowning it. I will take a D.A. to file accessory to murder and name some regime offcials in the indictment. Recall the DA that went after Tom Delay?
I immediately thought of a classic photograph (which I dearly wish I could link) of a steam locomotive which crashed out the second floor of a trasin terminal and is nose down on the sidewalk with a whole lot of train attached behind it back into the train station.
The Washington Post was the patron of Saul Alinsky and has always supported traitors to the US Constitution, hence can be counted on for cover for all indiscretions or illegalities on the Left....of course they provide cover for a communist president and Woodward will too, as his interest in taking down Nixon was political ---not righteous.
Benghazi and the Mexican border were both different versions of the same illegal, unconstitutional, scheme...a Fast and Furious...direct commerce...direct, illegal commerce...of gun running and Missile Running...
Lockheed is up to their eyes in the illegalities of missile running to Al Qaeda....in cahoots with Obama...
Ambassador Stevens, an Islamist gay man was central to the scheme....and had met secretly with Senator Inhofe a couple weeks previous to his death.
Arming our enemies? Exactly for what purpose???
Panetta is about to dismiss many high level military so as to complete the transformation without fear of a military coup....Put communists in charge and fulfill expectations...
About the millions of large caliber, hollow point ammo....
Why didn´t Cantor come public with the info he had? We know dims would have whether there was any truth or not. This is such a tangled web of deceit that I wonder if we will ever get to the bottom. We need either some republicans with spines or a truly independent counsel. I have a feeling if the economy gets worse like we think it will, people may be clamoring for impeachment.
TALLAHASSEE —A nearly 6-foot-tall "Festivus" pole made from empty beer cans will be put up in the Florida Capitol this week as a not-so-subtle protest to the recent placement of a Christmas nativity scene. The mock monument will be erected most likely on Wednesday in the same first-floor rotunda as a nativity scene depicting the birth of Jesus Christ put up last week by the Florida Prayer Network. "I still chuckle, I literally can´t believe there will be a pile of Pabst Blue Ribbon cans in the state rotunda," said Chaz Stevens, a Deerfield Beach resident who applied to the
The federal health care exchange is incorrectly determining that some people are eligible for Medicaid when they clearly are not, leaving them with little chance to get the subsidized insurance they are entitled to as the Dec. 23 deadline for enrollment approaches. State and industry officials haven´t quantified the problem yet, but the National Association of State Medicaid Directors may release information next week after following up on reports from around the country, says Executive Director Matt Salo. Here´s what happens: When consumers applying for insurance put their income information into subsidy calculators on HealthCare.gov — the exchange handling insurance sales for
HAVANA — Elian Gonzalez, the young Cuban boy who survived a boat sinking and became a political football during the 2000 U.S. presidential campaign as the subject of an international custody fight, is on his first trip overseas since being reunited with his father. Cuban state-run media say Gonzalez is in Ecuador this week as part of a 200-strong delegation to the 23rd World Festival of Youth and Students, which runs through Friday. In a recent interview published on the official website Cubadebate, Gonzalez said living in Cuba afforded him more privacy than if he had stayed in the United
When a former hard-hitting news anchor’s daytime talk show suffers dangerously slipping ratings, what’s the next step? If it’s Katie Couric, the answer is to trade a history of responsible reporting for irresponsible scaremongering. In her segment last week on the HPV vaccine, Couric delivered a blow to both public health and her image. The question now is what Couric – if she’s willing – can do to repair the damage. It’s a sad turn of events for Couric, once known for drawing attention to public health issues such as colon cancer, which killed her husband. The former CBS anchor, soon
If a five-part opus in The New York Times by Andrea Elliott is to believed, we live in a hard-hearted city. But if you read closely, it suggests just the opposite. Begin with the family at the center of this story. The mother, father and eight kids aren’t really homeless at all. True, they live in housing meant for “homeless families.” But their 540-square-foot unit gives them a solid roof over their heads, in addition to city-provided meals and services. One city official tells us Elliott and the Times ignored many key facts about the family and that its situation is “atypical.” “New
President Barack Obama is flying to South Africa Monday morning to join the emotional extravaganza around the graveside of former president Nelson Mandela, leaving Vice President Joe Biden on his lonesome to attend meetings in the empty White House. The president will board U.S. Air Force One to jet around the world to Johannesburg, the capital of South Africa, while Joe stays behind to keep the lights on at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. Obama is flying away from supposedly high-priority negotiations to prevent another budget shutdown of Uncle Sam’s federal government, and also from the top-priority effort to rebuild his crashed Obamacare program. He’s
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has been in the news fairly often of late, and not just in his home state. The Democrat has been the frequent subject of some admittedly long-shot speculation over a 2016 presidential run if Hillary passes on the ticket. (Personally, I would find a Cuomo candidacy hilarious, not to mention good news for the GOP, when he tried to explain to the rest of the nation how he signed the NY Safe Act, one of the most restrictive and odious gun control laws in the nation.) When he was elected Governor of New York, he
On his way to the podium at the memorial ceremony for former South African president Nelson Mandela, President Obama walked down the line of dignitaries, greeting other leaders there to pay their respects. Among the hands shaken: that of Cuban leader Raul Castro. Obama neither made a special effort to shake Castro’s hand nor to avoid him. A snub might have been awkward: In his speech, Obama praised Mandela’s “greatest gift” as “his recognition that we are all bound together in ways that can be invisible to the eye; that there is a oneness to humanity; that we achieve ourselves by
A “presidential selfie” featuring President Barack Obama, British Prime Minister David Cameron, and Denmark’s Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt at Nelson Mandela’s memorial service began making the rounds this morning, but it’s the person not included in the frame who caught everyone’s attention: As anyone with two eyes and a Twitter account has noticed, Michelle Obama does not appear amused. Of course, though a picture says a thousand words, not all of those words are necessarily true. FLOTUS might not have even known the photo was taking place. Or she could disapprove of funeral selfies. Either way.
A black fashion student says he was brutally attacked by a gang of Hasidic men who shouted anti-gay slurs at him while he was walking through Williamsburg after a night of partying, the Daily News has learned. Taj Patterson, 22, was headed home to Fort Greene around 4:30 a.m. on Dec. 1 when he says more than a dozen ultra-Orthodox Jewish men began assaulting him on Flushing Ave. and yelling, “Stay down, f----t!”
The Obama State Department has finally released a second round of photos revealing the harrowing devastation wrought by a terrorist attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi on Sept. 11, 2012. The new photographs depict rampant damage to the consulate. They show charred walls, smoldering fires, Arabic graffiti defacing exterior walls, and scattered debris throughout. The extent of the damage would lead any reasonably serious person to conclude that this was a cold, calculated attack, carefully coordinated to mark the 11th anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001. Unfortunately for the American people, the Obama-Clinton-Rice cabal that led to the Benghazi cover-up was
Just how much do many Hollywood liberals hate conservatives? In an interview with Playboy, Ben Affleck said, "When I watch a guy [on film] I know is a big Republican, part of me thinks, I probably wouldn’t like this person if I met him": PLAYBOY: You developed a political profile campaigning for presidential candidates Al Gore, John Kerry and Barack Obama. How did that come about? AFFLECK: I grew up in a house with a mother who was a teacher and a Freedom Rider—very left-wing Democrats living in a heterogeneous working-class neighborhood. I picked up a lot of those values there, and I
MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry opened her program over the weekend with a commentary about the Affordable Care Act’s colloquial moniker: “Obamacare.” She said that the word was originally created as a “derogatory term,” designed by white men as a way to delegitimize President Barack Obama and his achievement. However, she said that the term will soon be synonymous with all of Obama’s accomplishments and she urged her audience to use the term with pride. “I want to talk today about a controversial word. It’s a word that has been with us for years, and like it or not, it’s indelibly
President Obama, former president George W. Bush and their wives departed Washington Monday morning on Air Force One on their way to a memorial service in South Africa for Nelson Mandela. The president and first lady Michelle Obama are being accompanied by Mr. Bush, former first lady Laura Bush and former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton on the flight to Johannesburg. A four-hour memorial service will be held on Tuesday for South Africa’s first black president. Mr. Mandela, the anti-apartheid revolutionary, died on Thursday at age 95. Former President Bill Clinton and daughter Chelsea are traveling separately to South Africa. Former President
