| Obama’s win came in part because the media and a Springsteen-loving governor portrayed him as dedicated to relief for those hit by Hurricane Sandy. The reality however is that Obama made some routine photo op stops. FEMA, along with the Red Cross, failed abysmally at Hurricane Sandy relief efforts, and that story wasn’t told before the election because the people in a position to tell it had no power and the media wanted Obama to win. Afterward the story is slowly trickling out. “I asked, ‘Why haven’t you been sent out?’” he says.

FEMA is part of big government and the left doesn´t want that to be seen as a failure also. Bureaucrats couldn´t care less about people suffering. Not only that but they´re too stupid to organize anything but street demonstrations and conning people.
As always in these disaster areas,it´s average people coming in and actually helping people.Church groups collecting money, food, clothing etc.are frowned upon by the left. Just sit there in misery until Obama gets done with his golf game.

About a week after Sandy hit I knew this situation was being handled worse than Katrina was. I wasn´t being anti-Democrat only anti-incompetence. Bloomberg acted like Blanco and Nagin--saying, in response to why he didn´t request the National Guard, that he wanted only the NYPD there with guns, for just one example.
I´m curious about where WalMart was in all this. If they responded the way they did after Katrina their trucks, stuffed with relief supplies would have been ready to leave staging areas as soon as access to the disaster area was given--and were there along with the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries folks who had boats and experience to go help people. Even the current Dem mayor of New Orleans was there with a small boat. And who could forget the Coast Guard, on scene before the winds were safe, winching people off roof tops? Reminder: the USCG helicopter crews rescued 33,500 people, without signed approval from anyone, far as I know.
The few people at L.com who scorn those of us who are watchful as soon as a tropical disturbance appears within a thousand miles of our Southeast and Gulf coasts, please take note. Charleston´s Democrat mayor Joe Riley has been in office 33 years and there´s a reason: he knew even when Hugo hit in 1989 that people would have to fend for themselves for several days and always offers that same refrain whenever we might seem threatened. Most people listen, check over their supplies and replace those items that have been used over the preceding year. They know to fill their gas tanks, start storing water and to batten down the hatches. No, I´m not pro-Democrat, just pro-common sense.

The hurricane certainly was a nightmare. Most of the problems revolve around union rules, EPA mandates, etc. And since the libs love these things, not possible for them to untangle any of them.

If you watched the news you would assume everything was just fine regarding the recovery. There has been no Katrina type coverage that slammed G.W.Bush every day for months. I have to assume the people in NY and NJ that were effected are pleased with the recovery effort since they all voted for little barry and I haven´t heard any complaints to date. The only real devastating pictures I have seen have been in the British media and it looks awful.

I have been taking note of the lack of coverage of the poor suffering families in NY and NJ. The media ignored their plight in order to help Obama, while making Bush the scapegoat for Nagin and Blanco´s missteps. I will be reminding all my friends in NY and NJ of the incompetence of their President, Fema and the Governor and Mayor. OFTEN. As for the media, they are beyond disgusting and should be charged with manipulating an election.

I have to agree = the victims must not have been too upset - they voted blue through and through. I do hurt for them, but a reality check would be in order here.

I am just hoping that the lesson has been learned by these voters, but I am very doubtful. The people responsible for the tardiness of recovery efforts should be run out of town next election.

At a secret February ceremony at CIA headquarters in Langley, Va., the chief of the CIA’s base in Benghazi the night of the 9/11 anniversary attacks there was awarded one of the agency’s highest intelligence medals, according to U.S. military and intelligence officials. The honor given behind closed doors to “Bob,” the officer who was in charge of the Benghazi intelligence annex and CIA base that was attacked in the early morning of September 12, 2012 and then abandoned for nearly three weeks, illustrates the murky lines of command that preceded the attack, and helped make it a politically volatile issue.

The Senate on Monday opened debate on a $955 billion farm bill that would reduce federal spending by as much as $23 billion over the next 10 years by cutting funding for food stamps and eliminating some farm-support programs. "This legislation will create jobs, cut taxpayer subsidies and reduce the deficit," Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., said Monday. The White House offered only conditional support for the bill, an indication that lawmakers will need to make changes to win the president´s signature. The Obama administration in April called for a 3 percent reduction in the nation´s crop insurance program,

Journalists are understandably alarmed by the revelation that President Barack Obama´s Justice Department targeted Fox News reporter James Rosen during a leak investigation of a State Department employee. The news, reported by the Washington Post late Sunday night, reveals that the Obama administration will apparently stop at nothing to track down whistle-blowers who leak classified information. In Rosen´s case, that included implicating him as a "criminal co-conspirator" whose actions were punishable with up to 10 years in prison. While it is not uncommon for the government to investigate leaks, it is unprecedented for a journalist

The first lady went to Bowie State and addressed the graduating class. Her speech was a mix of black history and a salute to the graduates. (Snip) It takes a man of particular vision to know, as Obama did, that the country really was ready to send an African American to the White House. But I also think that some day historians will pore over his many speeches to black audiences. They will see a president who sought to hold black people accountable for their communities, but was disdainful of those who looked at him and sought the same.

And yes, I realize that headline is eight words too long. Peter Nicholas at the WSJ: The White House’s chief lawyer learned weeks ago that an audit of the Internal Revenue Service likely would show that agency employees inappropriately targeted conservative groups, a senior White House official said Sunday. That disclosure has prompted a debate over whether the president should have been notified at that time. In the week of April 22, the Office of the White House Counsel and its head, Kathryn Ruemmler, were told by Treasury Department attorneys

Remember Armand Armendariz, the Environmental Protection Agency regional administrator who resigned after regaling an audience of Big Green activists with a history lesson to illustrate his agency´s approach to critics of the EPA´s harshest policies? When the Romans conquered a new province, he said, they would "... find the first five guys they saw and they´d crucify them ..." to make the province "really easy to manage for the next few years." The EPA, he continued, also makes "examples of people who are not complying with the law, you make examples out of them,

The Democratic candidates for mayor in New York are campaigning to win the support of the teachers union. They threaten to return the city to the horrors of the David Dinkins era. Back at the turn of the 1990s, New York City was a mess. Crime was rampant. The schools were dreadful. Children in foster care were brutalized because–as the head of the Child Welfare Agency said–”oversight is racist.” The mayor was an incompetent. And, above all, the city was run for the benefit of its employees rather than its citizens. What followed was 20 years of governance

WASHINGTON – The Internal Revenue Serviced scandal today spread further within the White House and closer to President Obama. White House spokesman Jay Carney today disclosed that Obama’s chief of staff, Dennis McDonough, and other top White House officials had advance warning that the IRS was targeting conservative groups. But he insisted McDonough and the other White House officials purposely kept Obama out of the loop.McDonough “rightly chose not to take action” to inform Obama, Carney told reporters at the daily White House briefing.

The Washington Post on Monday reported that Obama’s Department of Justice was investigating journalists before they started wiretapping the Associated Press – for one, Fox News correspondent James Rosen in 2010. Their headline wasn´t "Obama Team Also Spied on Fox News." Fox wasn´t in the headline, on A-1 or on A-12, where the story continued. Newly obtained court documents “reveal how deeply investigators explored the private communications of a working journalist — and raise the question of how often journalists have been investigated as closely as Rosen was in 2010.” Reporter Ann Marimow began:

The wheels came off the Obama administration yesterday. We learned of a startling assault on freedom of the press by the Department of Justice, following the revelation last week of the unprecedented information-gathering foray by that department against The Associated Press. Then, a few minutes later, the Justice Department’s inspector general released a report declaring that the US attorney in Arizona used the leak of a confidential memo to try to discredit a whistleblower in the notorious “gun-walking” scandal known as Fast and Furious (which got two federal agents killed). The leak was called “egregious.”

WASHINGTON – A top IRS official in the division that reviews nonprofit groups will invoke the Fifth Amendment and refuse to answer questions before a House committee investigating the agency’s improper screening of conservative nonprofit groups. Lois Lerner, the head of the exempt organizations division of the IRS, won’t answer questions about what she knew about the improper screening – or why she didn’t reveal it to Congress, according to a letter from her defense lawyer, William W. Taylor 3rd. Lerner was scheduled to appear before the House Oversight committee Wednesday.

A senior adviser to President Obama mounted a combative defense of the administration on Sunday, saying the controversies enveloping the White House were the result of Republican lawmakers’ trying to “drag Washington into a swamp of partisan fishing expeditions, trumped-up hearings and false allegations.”The remarks came from Dan Pfeiffer, a member of the president’s inner circle, as he appeared on all five major Sunday morning talk shows in an effort to move the administration past what commentators have described as a “hell week” of controversy and missteps.

Stuart Varney said this morning on "Varney & Co." that one of his producers was given a questionnaire with some surprisingly intrusive questions on it when he switched doctors. One of the questions was whether he/she was concerned about unsecured weapons in the home. Another asked whether he/she was "in a relationship in which you have been physically hurt or are you afraid of your partner?" Judge Andrew Napolitano explained that the question about guns comes out of a post-Sandy Hook executive order by President Obama, but it will be required under Obamacare. Varney expressed amazement

While many Americans were tuned into news coverage of the massive damage from tornadoes ravaging the state of Oklahoma, Rhode Island Democratic Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse took to the Senate floor to rail against his Republican colleagues for denying the theory of anthropogenic global warming. Whitehouse spent 15 minutes chastising GOP senators and justified his remarks by alluding to states that seek federal assistance in the wake of natural disasters. “So, you may have a question for me,” Whitehouse said. “Why do you care? Why do you, Sheldon Whitehouse, Democrat of Rhode Island, care
