| Almost a year ago, I wrote on NRO about Detroit and the rise of the new American dictators. In looking at Michigan, my point was to show how liberty can be sacrificed thanks to the failures and incompetence of elected officials, and the seemingly reasonable decision to save municipalities by appointing emergency managers. Whether they feared the loss of their freedom, or couldn’t face up to the harsh medicine doled out by putting their cities under effective receivership, nearly 53 percent of Michigan’s voters rejected Public Act 4 in a referendum on November 6,

I remember watching on TV a meeting in detroit with some of the areas´ leaders and the voters in that district. They were in dire straits and were asking the people in the audience for ideas. When several white people tried to make suggestions, the blacks in the audience told them that, because they were white, they had NO say in what went on in Detroit. Quite an eye-opener.

#1. Isn´t that what is going on right now on a National level?
I perceive an attitude where, because of lack of knowledge, blacks consider America to be a democracy, (mob rule) not a Republic. Also, they have no concept that they comprise 12% of the total population of the USA.
Rather than bring us together, Obama and his minions fan the flames of racisim which only increases the resentment of blacks against whites.

Michigan had 6 referendums on the ballot this year. I came really close to voting for two of them. The one the writer mentions and the requirement of 2/3 of the legislature to increase any state taxes. They both sounded good but many of us realized that it is far easier to replace elected officials every few years if we don´t agree with the way they addressed these issues. That would preferable to having to change the constitution in order to reverse these dictates should they prove problematic in terms of loss of liberty.
In addition, there are other cities in Michigan that are teetering on the edge of bankruptcy. I don´t have to remind LDotters what they have in common . I´ll just say that nearly all of them are motor cities.

Detroit, Flint, Benton Harbor, Saginaw need to be closed, the population scattered and the land turned back into farm land. Maybe the population (or at least most of it) would like to return to their homeland say Zimbabwe

maybe Mitt Romney could buy the U.P. and build a magnificent business state to secede from that dead weight anchor that Detroit is to Michigan. I´d move back north in a heartbeat.

Much has been written and said about the astoundingly tone deaf performance of White House spokesman Jay Carney during this past month of scandals. The former journalist has lost the confidence of the people who were once his colleagues due to his unwillingness to tell the truth about his own deceptive statements (never mind those he represents in front of the press) about the Benghazi talking points or even to acknowledge that he has changed his story. The 2012 election season was filled with angry cries of “voter suppression,” almost all of them regarding attempts by states to require voter ID and otherwise improve ballot integrity. One of two men allegedly being questioned in connection with the Boston Marathon bombings was shot and killed by an FBI agent in Florida on Tuesday, (Snip)A friend of Ibragim Todashev said he and Todashev were being investigated as part of the Boston bombings. He said Todashev, 27, knew bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev because both were MMA fighters. The man claims he and Todashev were interviewed by the FBI for nearly three hours on Tuesday. The friend said he left the interview, and when he came back to the apartment he found that there had been a shooting.
