It is a mark of how entirely bereft of ideas the 2012 contest was that the post-election analysis has come to center not on what Barack Obama will do in his second term—which is really the only thing that matters now—but rather on the condition and fate of the Republican Party. Obama won a historic victory in some respects: If you had said two years ago that the president could win reelection with an unemployment rate of 7.9 percent and 4 million fewer people in the workforce than when he was elected, most analysts would have called you crazy.

People just don´t update their brains to current circumstances. To view this election on historic data is a perfect example.Elections are no longer about issues or problem solving but the Utopian world you stand for or oppose.

When they say no president ever been re-elected with unemployment over 8%,Obama just magically drops the rate to 7.9% and the problem is solved. Not that anybody got jobs but to brainwash people into thinking the economy is getting better.

They always accuse the Pentagon of fighting the last war.Instead of republicans coming up with new ways to fight the war, they´re deciding to become more like the enemy to blend in.Guess what republican switcheys, the left will never vote for a substitute liberal when a real liberal is available.

When the WH says they feared Huntsman the most, what they were really saying is if republicans want to win, they have to run RINOs.

If the left has a foolproof way of stealing elections,we´re going to need an overwhelming conservative in order to win. Elections in this country have always ran in cycles and people throw the other party out when they´re sick of them.

Right now every left wing moonbat is out of their cages running amok but sooner or later their policies will fail because liberalism, communism etc.have never worked.

Research after research says the latino vote is not about immigration, yet the right is willing to cave on it instead of defending the rule of law.I´ll bet right now the left is spreading "new citizens" around for the 2014 midterms to get House seats back.

After all the discussion of what the republicans are planning for a comeback strategy (be JUST like the dems), I am relieved that I changed my voter registration from republican to undeclared. I will NEVER vote for a dem but now that the republicans have decided to turn themselves into what I consider a thoroughly corrupt, immoral, USA-destroying clone of the dem party, I probably will never vote republican either. As the pubbies have made clear, there really is no place in their party for me.

FTA:

"It is true that 47 percent of Americans pay no federal income taxes and take more from government than they put in. But this is a many-faceted phenomenon, and the issue is not primarily or simply one of the corrupting power of government handouts. Rather, the issue is one of incentives. Just as Mitt Romney follows the rules of the tax code to lower his own burden to the lowest legal level—through incentives to do so provided by the tax code—so do all other Americans. If their tax burden is lowered to zero, they pay no taxes. That is simple common sense. It is not a snare, not a seduction, not a corruption. It may have grave long-term consequences for the country, but that is a policymaking crisis, not a black stain on the American character."

This is analogous to the Dims fomenting the housing crisis through, eg, the community reinvestment act. Criticizing the 47% is no way to win their vote. It is a request to the 53% to change tax policy, but not a way to win the 47%´s vote.

FTA:

"To such people Romney had nothing to say; he stuck instead to those generalities about America being a nation of entrepreneurship that celebrates success and rewards hard work and dreaming. That’s all well and good, but many people work hard without dreaming; and it is a violation of the central conservative idea of the dignity of the individual to confuse the idea of “success” in life with purely financial success as a result of risk-taking."

This is an excellent point. You don´t have to start your own business to be a conservative. Such people may be our "heroes" and the the economy builders of the nation, but other conservatives deserve to be addressed as well. Conservatives meaning people who don´t necessarily identify themselves as conservatives but whose basic sensibilities are conservative.

FTA:

"The United States will now undergo a four-year stress test of American liberalism, as Obama will get his tax hike and ObamaCare will be implemented. Those who think Obama cared about people like them will now experience the full extent of his caring. Conservatism will explain to them what is happening as it happens, and in the process, reveal how there is another, better, more effective, and more compassionate way forward."

Bingo! Teleprompter´s from the government and he´s here to help. Enjoy it you libs. Of course you´ll be told it´s delicious and you´ll eat it up.

A very long article and I must confess that I could not read all of it. Anyway you spin it, talking from others wins the day.

The crux of the political spectrum is that Demonrats and RINOs want to have total control over American lives and are bent on destroying Freedom and Liberty.

Restoring Freedom and Liberty should be the winning platform of the future...in a sane America that is.

This whole article is full of crap. What is grotesquely obvious is that he was ignoring the most salient reason that Romney lost: VOTER FRAUD! Romney lost because the election was STOLEN FROM HIM using computer fraud. Obama won nothing! What really pisses me off however is how GUTLESS the Repubs were and are. Only Allen West demanded and got a recount. He can live with himself. Romney/Ryan quit and then began making excuses while cry-baby Boner kissed Obama´s ass and said ok to tax raises and infinite "stimulus" that only stimulates unemployment. THE REPUBLICAN PARTY IS DEAD, it has no brains, no balls, and no future. The Demoncraps own the country until we get a new party that is reliably conservative.

There are just enough America hating progressives, politically clueless welfare recipients and votes being stolen/fabricated that this country is OVER!

Ronald Reagan was right. We WERE the last bastion of hope and opportunity on this planet. That is most definitively no longer the case.

When Most Americans, Myself included, did not even realize that there was a battle for the very soul of America..... Progressives were behind the scenes... plotting..... Conniving.....planning how to bring down America.

Me? I´m going to Costa Rica.

Too much ´on the one hand´....´on the other hand´...for me.

We can only hope that Barky´s dream collapses quickly and hurts enough people badly that they will rethink the notion of the nanny-state.

Only pain will cure this addiction to "OPM".

I was just over at The Connection, and clicked on Dan Miller´s first article, and listened to The Man of La Mancha theme.

My "Impossible Dream" would be that, on the grounds of Benghazi or unconstitutional Executive Orders or violating his Oath of Office to protect and enforce the Constitution, 0bama is impeached while under investigation.

Then, on Monday, December 17, when the Electoral College meets, they decide to follow their consciences and vote to elect a man of decency and character, Mitt Romney.

Of course, I did say "Impossible Dream" didn´t I?

This is a superb article. Thanks for posting. For those who think that the election was stolen rather than lost, consider how that thinking helped the Democrats take back the White House in 2004. If electoral fraud explains the 2012 loss, the solution is simple: More poll watchers and Romney-Ryan 2016. Any takers?

Conservatives win because conservatism works and liberalism doesn´t. The most damaging thing we do is run candidates who claim to be conservative but implement liberal policies. This not only distorts what a conservative is; it also saddles conservatism with liberal failures. Let liberals own what they have unbuilt.

The famous Clinton White House document known as "the conspiracy commerce memo" has finally surfaced. The memo, which details how right-wing conspiracy theories made their way into the mainstream press, was written in 1995 and first acknowledged by the White House in 1997. The idea of a “conspiracy” was also famously referred to by Hillary Clinton in 1998, when she cited a “vast right-wing conspiracy that has been conspiring against my husband since the day he ran for president.” The memo, part of the latest trove of documents released by the Clinton Presidential Library on Friday, outlines “the communication stream of conspiracy

That was the word from Poland’s defense minister, Tomasz Siemoniak, who visited The Post Friday after meeting with Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel at the Pentagon on Thursday. Siemoniak said the decision has been made on a political level and that military planners are working out details. There will also be intensified cooperation in air defense, special forces, cyberdefense and other areas. Poland will play a

AMSTERDAM -- Charlotte van den Berg was a 20-year-old college student working part-time in Amsterdam´s city archives when she and other interns came across a shocking find: letters from Jewish Holocaust survivors complaining that the city was forcing them to pay back taxes and late payment fines on property seized after they were deported to Nazi death camps. How, the survivors asked, could they be on the hook for taxes due while Hitler´s regime was trying to exterminate them? A typical response was: "The base fees and the fines for late payment must be satisfied, regardless of whether a third party,

MOKPO, South Korea -- A prosecutor says that the third mate steering a South Korean ferry at the time of a major accident was navigating those waters for the first time. Senior prosecutor Yang Jung-jin told reporters that the 25-year-old mate was steering the ship as it passed through an area with lots of islands clustered close together and fast currents. The ferry sank Wednesday. More than 270 people are still missing. Yang says that another mate usually took controls through the area. But because heavy fog caused a departure delay, the third mate was steering the ship through the waters. Yang says

The White House is going to war with another fox — and this time, it’s personal. The Wall Street Journal reports that a red fox has been causing chaos around the White House, tripping security alarms, digging up Michelle’s garden and distracting the president from his duties. The Secret Service won’t give any details about how often the fox trips the White House’s obviously sophisticated security alarms, but rest assured, officials say, they’re watching. President Obama was apparently “stunned” to see the fox roaming freely down the oft-photographed White House colonnade, home to the world’s shortest, but most dramatic, outdoor strolls. Shortly after the Supreme Court’s decision on Obamacare, the CBO projected that 9 million people would buy Obamacare-compliant insurance through newly established government-run exchanges. Now, after an enrollment period that his administration expanded by about two months—to more than half a year—President Obama says that 8 million people have “signed up” for (but in many cases haven’t actually bought) insurance through those exchanges. The Obama administration’s stated goal was to have 39 percent of those who bought such insurance be between the ages of 18 and 34. Now Obama says the actual percentage is 28 percent. Only in Washington, D.C. could someone

President Obama addressed the White House press corps today, announcing that with the final numbers in, Obamacare´s exchanges have attracted eight million sign-ups -- 35 percent of whom are "under the age of 35," he said. Several elements of his comments were misleading: (1) At first blush, the 35 percent stat is both significant and impressive. As recently as last month, the share of "young invincibles" signing up for plans was struggling in the 25 percent range, far short of the actuarial target of nearly 40 percent. A leap into the mid-30´s, while still shy of the goal, would constitute a major step, and would bode well for the risk pools'

Imagine a vendor on the National Mall, selling burgers and dogs, who hasn’t paid his rent in 20 years. He refuses to recognize his landlord, the National Park Service, as a legitimate authority. Every court has ruled against him, and fines have piled up. What’s more, the effluents from his food cart are having a detrimental effect on the spring grass in the capital. Would an armed posse come to his defense, aiming their guns at the park police? Would the lawbreaker get prime airtime on Fox News, breathless updates in the Drudge Report, a sympathetic ear from Tea Party Republicans?
