Revealed: Meet the Republican candidate
that the Obama campaign feared most

Daily Mail [UK], by Hayley Peterson

Original Article

Posted By:zephyrgirl, 11/22/2012 9:42:26 PM

President Obama´s campaign feared no potential Republican challenger more than Jon Huntsman, the former Utah governor who dropped out of the race in late January, according to a top campaign official. Obama campaign manager Jim Messina revealed this week that Huntsman, who stepped down as Obama´s ambassador to China in April of 2011 in order to run for the Republican nomination, would have been the most ´difficult´ candidate for Obama to beat. ´I think we were honest about our concerns about Huntsman,´ Messina told Politico.

Comments:
I can´t believe that Huntsman could have done any better than Romney - his association with the Obama administration would have lost him more Republican votes than any Democrat votes he would have gained, as evidenced by his poor showing in the primaries.

Oh puhleeze. Obama had absolutely NO fear of Huntsman. He didn´t make a dent in the primaries from the beginning. Clearly Republicans didn´t want him so what´s to fear?

They feared no one because they knew they had all the states they needed covered by fraud.

Huntsman? Ha!

Huntsman must be seeking another appointment from Obama. Perhaps as Ray LaHood´s replacement at Transportation. RINO to replace a RINO.

Gingrich was the Republican candidate Obama and the Repubs feared most because he would have mopped the floor with Obama in the debates, in his ads and on a daily basis before voters.

I find #4´s comment about Hitler and Chamberlain ironic because Gingrich reminds me of Winston Churchill, whom Hitler should have feared. Gingrich would have been our Churchill in our war on terror.

Agreed. If Mr. Newt had stuck with his strategy of having Obama be his travel planner (by going to the same place as he, four hours later and rebutting what Obama had just said), it would have been a totally different campaign.

Would Newt had won? Who knows, it could have been a worse loss than 2008. But it would not have been predictable for the Obama campaign and their media chorus line.

I do believe the left is trying to make us believe that Obama feared Huntsman. Huntsman is the perfect, wimpy, boring candidate. Lets face it, we needed a man with Romney´s personal character and Newt´s intellect. We needed someone that could fight back against being Palinized. We didn´t have a person in one embodiment who could do that thi time.

How do you figure Newt Gingrich could get the nomination when he was not on the ballot in Virginia and was on the ballot in some counties and not others in at least one other state?

He should have known that and all of us should have known that. He was never a threat to Obama but he was a threat to Romney´s electability, and all to absolutely no purpose.

Huntsman is the prototype republican the left wants all of them to be so this story is to embellish the theme that republicans all need to become open minded RINOS and cave to the left´s wishes.Huntsman lost me as soon as he embraced climate change.

Obama won because the left has made an absolute science out of what areas to micro target for cheating prospects.Obviously this includes local election officials.

this article is just nonsense. i am still stunned that romney lost and what that means for this country. i rarely read politics these days (after the election) but this article is ridiculous and who cares anyway? unless repubs get out the vote with minorities there will not be any more repub presidents. hispanics and blacks aren´t stupid, but they are ignorant of republican ideas and ideals - those can be transmitted but only with a longterm grassroots application, starting now. sadly, though, there doesn´t seem to be anyone at the head of the pub party who really knows what he is doing.
i am still sickened by romney´s loss. how could that have happened????

I first heard it more than a year ago when Democratic strategists and operatives started saying that Huntsman was the guy to beat and it continued into the primary. Many have repeated it since the general election ended in Romney´s defeat. It wasn´t true then and it isn´t true now, but it´s a meme they want out there.

Jefferson County, Colo. - A judge ruled on Friday that there is enough evidence for a teen to stand trial for murder and attempted abduction about an hour after prosecutors played a 911 tape where Austin Sigg admitted to killing 10-year-old Jessica Ridgeway and to trying to kidnap a female jogger. The five-minute recording played during a Friday preliminary hearing began with the teen´s mother, Mindy Sigg, calling 911 on the night of Oct. 23, 2012. "I need you to come to my house, my son wants to turn himself in for Jessica Ridgeway's murder," the mother tells a dispatcher.

Only four doctors in the U.S. offer third-trimester abortions, knowing they risk their own lives every day to carry out such controversial procedures. These doctors are the subject of a documentary screened at the Sundance film festival last weekend, forty years after the legalization of abortion in the U.S. and four years after Dr Tiller. Physician George Tiller was a prominent practitioner of late-term abortions shot dead by an extremist in 2009. The documentary After Tiller is named for him and focuses on the few remaining doctors who perform abortions in the third trimester of a pregnancy. The Supreme Court granted states the right to limit abortions in the final three months of a pregnancy.

Is the Washington National Cathedral the spiritual center of the nation? In the mind of the liberal Episcopal cathedral’s new dean, it should be. Such an assertion would surprise many of America’s churchgoers, the vast majority of whom are not even Oldline Protestants, let alone Episcopalians. But since assuming leadership of the Cathedral in October, Dean Gary R. Hall has frequently spoken of the church’s role as being “at the center” of American public life.

Obama administration officials who were in key positions on Sept. 11, 2012, acknowledge that a range of mistakes were made the night of the attacks on the U.S. missions in Benghazi, and in messaging to Congress and the public in the aftermath. The officials spoke to CBS News in a series of interviews and communications under the condition of anonymity so that they could be more frank in their assessments. They do not all agree on the list of mistakes and it's important to note that they universally claim that any errors or missteps did not cost lives and reflect "incompetence rather than malice or cover up.

In the wake of one of the worst abuses of government power in recent history, many are rushing to frame the Internal Revenue Service scandal as simply an attack on conservative activists. That view risks creating a partisan political football and misses a fundamentally scarier abuse that exceeds the scandals of Watergate or any other prior government abuse. The IRS has admitted that since May 2010 it targeted grassroots-conservative organizations that had applied for tax-exempt status, unfairly subjecting them to rigorous scrutiny due to their political leanings. Such groups were told they were required to comply with IRS requests,

Treasury Secretary Jack Lew on Friday urged congressional leaders to raise the debt limit and insisted that the White House is not going to negotiate over the increase because lawmakers have "no choice." "We will not negotiate over the debt limit," Lew wrote. "The creditworthiness of the United States is non-negotiable. The question of whether the country must pay obligations it has already incurred is not open to debate." Lew said that while President Obama is willing to discuss plans to reduce the nation´s deficit with Congress, those talks must be kept separate from any effort to raise the nation´s debt cap.

The lawmaker leading the charge to investigate the Benghazi terror attack on Friday subpoenaed the co-author of a report that slammed the State Department but didn´t interview Hillary Clinton. House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) formally demanded that retired ambassador Thomas Pickering submit to being deposed by the committee next Thursday. The subpoena comes in the wake of a series of acrimonious public exchanges this week between the two men. Issa didn´t issue a subpoena to former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Michael Mullen, who co-authored the Benghazi report with Pickering.
