What the cease-fire means to Israel and Hamas

| The White House was quick to credit President Obama for brokering the cease-fire deal between Israel, Egypt and in turn, Hamas. In the official statement released by the White House Wednesday, it said "The President commended the Prime Minister [of Israel] for agreeing to the Egyptian cease-fire proposal -- which the President recommended the Prime Minister do." (Snip) In fact, Hamas spokesmen had leaked to the press that the cease-fire would begin at 9 p.m. local time on Tuesday, but that was before Clinton had landed in Jerusalem. It would take another 24 hours for the deal to be finalized.
|
Comments: When Griffin gave this report on Fox News this afternoon, it sounded as though the cease fire, agreed upon, was then held until Hillary got there to "put the final touches on it" and give her and Obie the victory dance.
One of Jennifer Griffin´s in-depth reports on material other journalists will skip entirely or skim over.

Phooey. Kabuki theater with the PIAPS in the starring role. This will last I predict...two or three days, maybe, until the Hamas starts firing rockets again......

How many times have we seen these ceasefires? Hamas launches a sneak attack. Israel starts blowing their brains out. But before Israel can wipe them out entirely, the magic ceasefire is ostentatiously negotiated...but not until Hamas blows up another bus or two filled with civilians.
The ceasefire begins. Hamas regroups and gets resupplied with more rockets. They relaunch another sneak attack.
Rinse. Repeat.

Obviously this deal was in the bag long before Hilldawg arrived on the scene but you have to love the left´s creativity at theatrics.Nobody will say how much US foreign aid was just spent on this deal.Israel needs to reload itself with more iron dome components.
It´s actually pretty funny how Obama hasn´t even been sworn in for the second term yet and they´re already lining up Hillary for 2016.When Bubba went out and campaigned for Obama is wasn´t to give his vocal chords some exercise, there was an agreement to clear the path to these people getting back in the WH.
I hear a lot of people say Hillary would be better than Obama which is really a low bar to set, considering there isn´t that much difference between the two.
Maybe after the next 1 1/2 to 2 years Obama will dump Biden and make her VP to em brazen her credentials.

After seeing the savages win the fight in this country, I was hoping the good guys would win the fight in the middle east. Guess not. And the announcement coming just after the bombing on the bus in Israel, and right before the barrage, certainly gave the bad guys the look of a win. Which is what counts in that part of the world. Strong horse is obama´s allies, the muslim brotherhood, weak horse is Israel and liberty.

Where does one begin the list of what is wrong with this "deal", considering that the truce has already been broken AFTER the deal was made? (AFP story on Drudge)
First, “The goal must be a durable outcome that promotes regional stability and advances the security and legitimate aspirations of Israelis and Palestinians alike,” Clinton said in Cairo.
In her dreams. Israel and the Palestinians know that this "peace deal" won´t last and in fact, only gives a decimated Hamas some breathing room until they re-up.
Second, Egypt’s president, a member of the Muslim Brotherhood, now will be held accountable if Hamas or anyone else fires rockets from Gaza into Israel. On the line is $1.5 billion dollars in U.S. aid to Egypt.
Does Morsi care if the US holds him "responsible" for attacks? Do Americans really believe he won´t claim deniability the next time a rogue rocket or crowded-city pipe bomb clobbers Israeli citizens? I can hear it now: "We agreed to not bomb Israel. We can´t help it if somebody strikes out on their own." ....continued
|
Reply 12 - Posted by:
M2, 11/22/2012 6:56:07 AM (No. 9028896)
...continued
Third, Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal... said that as part of the deal Israel has agreed to ease control of all Gaza’s border crossings, including its sea routes. But...Israel has not agreed to end its maritime blockade of Gaza ... In other words, all ships that want to approach the Gaza coast are still subject to search and seizure. And security at the border crossings into Israel will not be eased, according to sources familiar with the talks... and there is no agreement allowing Palestinians from Gaza to enter Israel.
More lies.
“The President said that he was committed to seeking additional funding for Iron Dome and other U.S.-Israel missile defense programs,"
...except for the US´ defense. Didn´t the Democrats get rid of our missile-defense system a while back? So Obama is made to look like the great Israel-protector while at the same time decimating our military and refusing to fund troops and in fact, even disallowing their absentee ballots.
This entire "peace deal" is a shameful sham. Already, hours AFTER the truce, rockets have already been fired into Israel from Gaza (http://www.france24.com/en/20121122-twelve-rockets-hit-israel-after-truce-police)
So the posturing goes apace, as is de rigeur for this Administration, while the Israelis are still getting shelled. Where is the "peace deal", the "truce"?

I just can´t figure out why Israel keeps participating in these cease-fire dog and pony shows. There is never an up-side for them that I can see. In a few days or weeks the rockets will start falling again and be totally ignored by the world until Israel gets fed up and returns fire; then peace suddenly becomes an issue again. An unending vicious cycle.

Who could possibly trust anything Hamas says? Yet, we will once again give them the benefit of the doubt. They need to be held accountable for the death and destruction that is their way of life. These people are NOT victims. They are willing terrorists whose only goal is the total annihilation of the Jews.
I hope that Israel does not trust Obama to broker any kind of peace. This regime always has an ulterior motive and I suspect it is not peace and security for Israel.

If Obama believes negotiating with terrorists is a good policy for ending wars, as he´s forced Israel to do with Hamas, why hasn´t he negotiated with the al-Qaeda terrorists in Afghanistan during his almost four years in office to end the war in that country and bring our troops home?
Surely, with the extraordinary diplomatic skills the MSM is currently attributing to Hillary Clinton, she could have easily talked the Afghan terrorists into signing the same kind of treaty she negotiated between Israel and Hamas.
So why isn´t Hillary inviting al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri to a meeting? I´m sure he´d be just as thrilled to sign a meaningless piece of paper as the Hamas leaders were.

The basic problem, ignored by the liberals, is that hatred of Jews and Polytheists (i.e. Christians who believe in the Trinity) is a core teaching of Islam. See Qur’an (9:30) and Qur’an (5:82) as quoted in a recent PJmedia article for examples. This is an ugly fact not easily accepted by the all religions are equal crowd but one which is fervently believed by many in the Middle East.

If we all get it, why doesn´t Israel get it? Obama has to be shoveling money and threats around behind the scenes to accomplish his objectives. Israel seems to fall for it every time.
Of course the cease fire is just a short lull that allows hamas to resupply, lick their wounds and start firing rockets again.

It is just a tad confusing when I just read an article on the Drudge Report ( by the A>P> no less ) speaking about statements by the Head of the Egyptian Brotherhood and headlined "Egypt Brotherhood Leader blasts Peace with Israel". We all know that Hamas obtains there weapons overland through Eqypt through tunnels at their common border.

In Thanksgiving, here I venture an amateur list of reasons it seems to me Israel belongs to the Israelis. Because they lived there before any of the other claimants and were ejected by force. Because they bought the land they live on, because they were given it by Britain the last other legitimate ruler, because they were assigned it by the U.N., because they conquered it in several regional wars. Because they improved it, because they run a just government where people can live in freedom. Because they protect everyone´s Holy Places. Because the people who claim it drove the Jews out of the places where they lived before and will not allow the Jews a right of return. Because they live there now. And because the principle of putting people back to where they lived in 1945 would throw the entire world into turmoil. Leave them alone for God´s sake.

Save for those two we would not know what really is going on in Israel and that this so called cease-fire was brokered before Clinton got there and that Benghazi was an organized terrorist attack. In House testimony Friday, former Acting IRS Commissioner Steven Miller explained that the IRS mistakes in handling applications for non-profit status from tea party groups were due, in large part, to a flood of applications following the Citizens United decision. Miller said the targeting was a botched attempt to centralize the process to account for the increased workload. There were fewer applications in 2010, when the IRS began targeting conservative groups, than the year before, however. (Snip)Moreover, the IRS reportedly abandoned the targeting in early 2012. It presumably had little trouble handling the increased number of applicants

House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) wants to know “who’s going to jail” over the IRS scandal. But ousted acting IRS commissioner Steven Miller says no laws were violated when the agency targeted conservative groups. So who’s right? Did the IRS’s conduct take a step beyond mere “wrongdoing” and venture into criminal territory? (Snip)Essentially, there are three types of laws that might conceivably have been broken, as Attorney General Eric Holder acknowledged in his testimony before a House committee Wednesday:

WASHINGTON — It was an unusual way to deliver bad news, even in a town known for its selective leaks, Friday night news dumps and wag-the-dog distractions. The Internal Revenue Service, apparently determined to get out ahead of an inspector general report critical of its handling of tax exemptions for Tea Party groups, came up with a plan: Lois Lerner, the official responsible for the tax-exempt division, would publicly apologize in response to a question at the American Bar Association conference in Washington. Details of the now-infamous planted question emerged Friday after acting IRS commissioner Steven Miller admitted the gambit

Taxpayers tuning in to Friday´s House Ways and Means hearing on IRS targeting of conservative groups may have expected to hear some hangdog apologies from senior members of the agency. If so, they were disappointed. Acting IRS Commissioner Steven Miller, who was fired by President Obama this week but is sticking around to help with the transition, was almost casual about the pattern of biased enforcement that cost him his job. Earlier this week he blamed the political targeting on "rogue" officials in Cincinnati, but on Friday he said the behavior was "obnoxious" but that he does "not believe

Republicans and Democrats on the House Ways and Means Committee both said that Miller and other IRS officials should have alerted Congress in testimony last year that they knew the agency was giving extra scrutiny to conservative and Tea Party groups.

An official close to Miller told Fox News, shortly after Obama´s brief announcement, that the IRS chief was "set to resign the position of acting commission as of early June." He was planning to leave the IRS entirely a "couple of months later, regardless of the current controversy," the source said. These details were not mentioned by the president

Obama administration officials who were in key positions on Sept. 11, 2012, acknowledge that a range of mistakes were made the night of the attacks on the U.S. missions in Benghazi, and in messaging to Congress and the public in the aftermath. The officials spoke to CBS News in a series of interviews and communications under the condition of anonymity so that they could be more frank in their assessments. They do not all agree on the list of mistakes and it's important to note that they universally claim that any errors or missteps did not cost lives and reflect "incompetence rather than malice or cover up.

STANDING BEFORE reporters Thursday, President Obama declined an invitation to compare the recent scandals weighing down his administration with those that forced President Nixon to resign in 1974. So allow us to do the work for him: There is no comparison. Nixon, in a series of crimes that collectively came to be known as Watergate, directed from the White House and Justice Department a concerted campaign against those he perceived as political enemies, in the process subverting the FBI, the IRS, other government agencies and the electoral process to his nefarious purposes. Mr. Obama has done nothing of the kind.

In the wake of one of the worst abuses of government power in recent history, many are rushing to frame the Internal Revenue Service scandal as simply an attack on conservative activists. That view risks creating a partisan political football and misses a fundamentally scarier abuse that exceeds the scandals of Watergate or any other prior government abuse. The IRS has admitted that since May 2010 it targeted grassroots-conservative organizations that had applied for tax-exempt status, unfairly subjecting them to rigorous scrutiny due to their political leanings. Such groups were told they were required to comply with IRS requests,

The lawmaker leading the charge to investigate the Benghazi terror attack on Friday subpoenaed the co-author of a report that slammed the State Department but didn´t interview Hillary Clinton. House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) formally demanded that retired ambassador Thomas Pickering submit to being deposed by the committee next Thursday. The subpoena comes in the wake of a series of acrimonious public exchanges this week between the two men. Issa didn´t issue a subpoena to former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Michael Mullen, who co-authored the Benghazi report with Pickering.
