| Rep. Jesse Jackson, Jr., a once rising political star who has been on a medical leave for months and has been the subject of a federal investigation into alleged misuse of campaign money, resigned from Congress today with a letter in which he acknowledged his personal ´mistakes.´ ´I am aware of the ongoing federal investigation into my activities and am doing my best to address the situation responsibly, cooperate with the investigators, and accept responsibility for my mistakes, for they are my mistakes and mine alone,´ he wrote in the letter submitted on Wednesday. ´None of us is immune

But no consequences. Big, big difference.

A power surge in the erie, pa area wiped out my account here, so the iconic lakerman is back with a new screen name. Some thoughts about Jesse, Jr. First, the house ethics committee investigated him, and did nothing! Second, his wife is also under investigation, which I think is new information. (as a chicago alderman, she makes 100,000 dollars plus, per year. And this might freeze her out as a replacement for jr.) Finally, the investigation must be under the control of a career federal attorney, which keeps Eric Holder out of the mix. And that´s a good thing.
But I still say President Zero will pardon jr. Zero is coated with teflon, and can do whatever he wants to do, without consequence.

A crook just like his father. He does seem to have some mental problems but so do all leftists.
I am willing to bet he gets his full pension whether he is convicted or not. He is a member of the protected class...a black race hustler and a Democrat. He should probabley convert to Islam and be completely untouchable.

The pardon angle is interesting, since the prior congressman for that district, the sleazy Mel Reynolds, was pardoned by Bill Clinton. Illinois is ample proof that the people get the govt. they deserve. Jackson was overwhelmingly reelected, and you wonder whether reelection was to help him plea bargain with the feds, and if it also sweetens his pension. That´s how we roll in IL after all.

Sorry ,sorry, I was wrong, wrong, wrong.
Mel Reynold´s is the sleazy Black congressman, Dick Mell is Blago´s sleazy white Alderman F-I-L.
I do believe Reynold´s wife was causing some trouble too at that time.

Huh? Why would he do this? He had it made. He could just "hold" the seat. Anyone can "hold" the seat! We´ve had practically brain dead people "hold" their seats in congress. We´ve had pedophiles, rapists, embezzlers, liars, charlatans, and even comatose people holding seats in congress for crying out loud- So, I have to guess, someone - Pelosi? - jumped in and gave him a message loud and clear. It does not matter- a new socialist, libtard will be appointed now to replace him- nothing will change.

The investigation of JJ Jr´s spouse does seem to be a new (and about time) revelation. She being the Chicago Alderwoman who lives full-time in DC, flaunting the Chi-Town rules that city employees must live in Chicago. A recent Chicago newspaper pointed out that this woman is the sole person able to get away with this violation - just cuz she´s a Jackson.

Schools and police stations were burning in Stockholm as violent riots continued for a fifth consecutive night. Emergency services were called to 70 separate incidents, including two torched primary schools, burning shops and a destroyed library building also housing a local police unit. Despite police claiming that the situation is beginning to calm down, critics say the riots were unavoidable after years of widening social gaps in a country which has the highest proportion of foreign-born citizens in Scandinavia.

The lawyer picked Thursday to succeed Patrick Fitzgerald as Chicago´s U.S. attorney is a former federal prosecutor best known for taking on corrupt politicians and powerful institutions such as the University of Notre Dame. Zachary Fardon would take over an office that has made its mark nationally by putting crooked government officials behind bars but increasingly faces pressure to do more to help in the fight against Chicago´s violent street gangs. "Zachary Fardon will be unwavering in his commitment to justice, and I am confident he will serve the people of Illinois with excellence," President Barack Obama said

The Democratic National Committee is accusing the GOP of "making up so-called ´scandals´ out of thin air." In an email to supporters, DNC Spokesman Brad Woodhouse writes that Republicans´ accusations of scandal aren´t legitimate — a claim that´s sure to draw howls from the right."Getting in President Obama´s way has been the top priority for Republicans in Congress since day one. But now they´ve gone too far. The Obama Administration fought to keep a search warrant for James Rosen’s private e-mail account secret, arguing to a federal judge that the government might need to monitor the account for a lengthy period of time. The new details are revealed in a court filing detailing a back and forth between the Justice Department and the federal judges who oversaw the request to search a Gmail account belonging to Rosen, a reporter for Fox News. A 2009 article Rosen had written about North Korea sparked an investigation; Ronald C. Machen, Jr., the U.S. Attorney who is prosecuting Stephen Jin-Woo Kim,

As Democrats and the media continue to hammer Virginia lieutenant governor hopeful E.W. Jackson for his past comments on social issues, the Christian minister says he is battling what he calls the “mainstream media’s caricature” of him. In an email sent to The Daily Caller this week, the running mate to Republican gubernatorial candidate Ken Cuccinelli said “every one of those comments has a context and were spoken in my role as a minister, not as a candidate.” In particular, the black Republican took issue with the media’s outrage over his comments on abortion.

The public got its first look Thursday at Lois Lerner, who has gone from faceless IRS bureaucrat to the face that launched what feels like 1,000 congressional hearings and conspiracy theories. But it was only a brief sighting since she didn´t stay long at a House hearing to further probe her role in how some IRS workers came to target conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status. (Snip)She did make a short statement to declare her innocence, however. Lerner´s motivation was more transparent than much of what the IRS has done in connection with this controversy. She was determined to

When you get right down to it, the political targeting and stalling of tax-exempt applications by the IRS was an effort to defund the Tea Party. Rick Santelli, one of the Tea Party founders and my CNBC colleague, was the first to make this point. I’ve taken it a step further: The IRS was taking the Tea Party out of play for the 2012 election, as it looked to avoid a repeat of 2010 and another Tea Party landslide. There are a lot of numbers out there.

President Obama on Thursday nominated Victoria Nuland, a State Department official involved in the editing of the administration´s talking points on Benghazi, to be the next assistant secretary of state for European and Eurasian affairs. Nuland, a career foreign service officer who was until recently State´s top spokesperson, had long been expected to be nominated the post to replace Philip Gordon, who Obama picked to serve as Middle East coordinator for the National Security Council. Nuland´s nomination -- which requires Senate confirmation -- could come under scrutiny from Republicans who see her as playing a central role in shaping

Conservative radio host Mark Levin is very skeptical of the idea that President Obama had absolutely no idea about the IRS tea party targeting before the story broke in the news mere weeks ago. Levin declared adamantly that it is a “flat-out, bald-faced lie” that Obama didn’t know beforehand, citing prior reports by a few conservative news outlets picking up on the news well before the 2012 presidential election. Levin said, “I don’t believe for two seconds that Obama wasn’t aware of this.”

Anthony Weiner’s New York mayoral candidacy was only made more improbable today after he revealed that he visited a Houston psychiatric facility following his resignation from Congress in 2011. Haunted by scandal surrounding his sexually explicit online communications with women, the Democratic former congressman sought treatment for his compulsive behavior from mental health professionals at the Gabbard Center. According to its website, the facility provides “3-day outpatient psychiatric evaluation,” particularly to “professionals who are in personal or professional crises.” While Weiner did not disclose
