Senators Ask Obama For
Post-Election Keystone OK

Now that the election is over, nine Republican and nine Democrats have asked the president to stop making excuses and build a job-creating pipeline that will close the revenue gap through economic growth. The truly bipartisan group of senators, led by Max Baucus, a Montana Democrat and powerful chair of the Senate Finance Committee, and John Hoeven, a North Dakota Republican, wrote President Obama on Friday urging him to quickly issue a permit for the northern leg of the Keystone XL pipeline that would bring over 830,000 barrels of crude from Canada´s oil sands

Comments:
Time to lay some pipe.

People act like it is certain BO will ok the pipeline. I don´t think that is certain at all. The petrochemical industry is not a Democratic fiefdom. That alone should tell you that the pipeline is dead. I hope I am wrong, but if we have learned anything in 4 years, politics is the only consideration for BO.

Also I am coming to believe that Obama thinks near-zero economic growth is a worthy goal. Spread what we have in a zero-sum redistribution, but don´t allow the economy to grow. It´s only "justice".

The world would be so much better if we all lived off the land and allowed the ruling class to take care of us, right?
Darth ValJar will think of something to delay the pipeline, just watch.

It is a very large and a wild assumption that obama is playing for the "Home Team"

Another theory as good as the next:

Boom inaction only does what is in his own best interest. He is also a statist. I say he won´t okay it!

What Obama have people been watching the last 4 years? When has he shown any interest in job creation other than what the government pays for?If right wingers stand to gain off this pipeline, you can forget about it.He´s obsessed with cutting off donation sources to republicans.

Obama´s going to be an even harder, more entrenched leftist than before the election. People that bought his bipartisan baloney should have their heads examined for the presence of a brain.

Why does the President have the power to make this call. Is he King?

What happened to the people of the United States making the call.

Reply 7 - Posted by: PoliticalJunky, 11/21/2012 5:48:00 AM     (No. 9027002)

What happened to these Democrat Senators standing up for the pipeline before this? Oh, no, they had to wait until their man was reelected. If anyone wanted the pipeline they would have done better by endorsing Romney.

Each state should simply start builing it´s section up to the border, and then keep pressing this administration on completion.

Illustrate the jobs being created along the way in steel, construction, and transportation.

I think it will be approved for one reason: Oil companies payoffs are greater than those from tree huggers.

Run By Same IRS Exec

Government Overreach: The Internal Revenue Service official in charge of tax-exempt organizations when the unit targeted Tea Party groups now runs the IRS office responsible for enforcing ObamaCare. As bad as the IRS scandal was, with the taxing body of government using its unequaled authority to intimidate and harass the president´s political opposition to aid his re-election, it got worse with the news that the IRS official, Sarah Hall Ingram, who served as commissioner of the Tax-Exempt and Government Entities Division from 2009 to 2012, is now serving as director of the IRS´ Affordable Care Act division.

Employer spending on benefits rose at the slowest pace on record in the first quarter, as companies began bracing for higher health costs with next year´s launch of ObamaCare.Total benefits, such as insurance and pension contributions, rose just 0.1% vs. the end of last year, the smallest gain in Labor Department data going back to 2001. By comparison, payroll employment grew by a half-million, or 0.4%, in Q1. So benefits-per-worker declined. Total employee benefits provided outside of government jobs declined outright.

Welfare: Not content with having more Americans on food stamps than people in Spain, the Obama administration is ringing the dinner bell for illegal aliens. We´ll feed you and not check your status. As we wrote last July, just as food stamp use has skyrocketed here under President Obama, so have marketing efforts to Hispanics under a partnership with Mexico. We dubbed the program "Fat and Furious" after the administration´s gun-running program that also seemingly had worthy goals but had unclear motives and pernicious effects. Energy: As the EPA snipes at the State Department´s approval, Canada´s natural resource minister says failure to approve the pipeline would seriously jeopardize our energy relationship and do nothing to save the earth. Joe Oliver, not amused by the continued delays in perhaps the most shovel-ready project since the pyramids, said Wednesday that rejection by the U.S. of the proposed Keystone XL pipeline "would represent a serious reversal in our long-standing energy relationship." This critical energy infrastructure project is also perhaps the most studied and approved. After a reroute at the behest of environmentalists

States: The governor from a thriving free-enterprise state travels to the U.S. counterpart of Greece and Cyprus with an invitation: Come to where folks are friendly to business. Texas´ Rick Perry arrived in Illinois Monday to lure businesses away from a state that we and other´s have dubbed "America´s Greece" — beleaguered by debt, punished by regulations and subject to ever-rising taxes — to one that´s leading the pack in job and economic growth. Taking umbrage at Perry´s visit was Chicago Mayor and former White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel.

China Deploys Carrier Killer

Asian Security: As Korea festers, our friends in Beijing have deployed near Taiwan a powerful missile designed to take out U.S. aircraft carriers as Beijing strengthens its ability to prevent U.S. forces from aiding Taiwan. When North Korea announced the 1953 Armistice was considered null and void and threatened renewed missile tests, the U.S. rushed naval assets to the region, including two destroyers equipped with the Aegis anti-missile defense system. We presumably would do so if things heated up between Beijing and its claimed "lost province," Taiwan. That option became increasingly problematical when news

Media Bias: There´s palpable dismay at outlets such as MSNBC and Salon that the Boston Marathon bombers were radicalized young men from Chechnya and not angry white males from the vast right-wing conspiracy. Shortly after Monday´s tragedy in Boston, David Sirota of Salon Magazine penned a piece titled "Let´s hope the Boston Marathon bomber is a white American." His hopes were dashed when the suspects turned out to be Muslim brothers Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev, whose family origins are in Chechnya, the rebellious Russian region that is a breeding ground for terrorists.

What did President Obama do on the evening of 9/11/12 when our men were under attack in Benghazi? The invaluable Andrew McCarthy reminds us that Obama and Secretary Clinton had a 10:00 p.m. phone call of which many (including, I think, Chris Wallace) have lost sight. This morning when Wallace asked Obama aide Dan Pfeiffer what Obama was up to that evening, Pfeiffer declared the line of inquiry “offensive.” Translation: Obama and his minions would prefer to “move on” and are warning the likes of FNC off:(Snip for video)The Weekly Standard’s Daniel Halper has posted the rush transcript

WASHINGTON - There were new questions Saturday night concerning if anyone in the White House was aware of the IRS´ targeting of conservative groups. Inspector General Russell George said he informed a deputy at the Treasury Department in June of 2012 about the probe into the IRS. The Treasury Department confirmed the timeline but said they did not know the details of the investigation until last week.(Snip)Marcus Owens ran the tax-exempt division at the IRS for 10 years. It began in earnest last Friday. A flash mob of latte drinking, tofu eating media that has done its best to quell, rather than fan the flames of truth, turned on one of their own. Jay Carney lay bludgeoned at the base of the podium, a victim of friendly fire. Ironically, the attack was reminiscent of the one in Benghazi he has repeatedly denied the Administration he represents bears any responsibility for. “Changed twelve times?!” came the cries. And with good reason. We were misled; no, lied to.

Treasury Secretary Jack Lew on Friday urged congressional leaders to raise the debt limit and insisted that the White House is not going to negotiate over the increase because lawmakers have "no choice." "We will not negotiate over the debt limit," Lew wrote. "The creditworthiness of the United States is non-negotiable. The question of whether the country must pay obligations it has already incurred is not open to debate." Lew said that while President Obama is willing to discuss plans to reduce the nation´s deficit with Congress, those talks must be kept separate from any effort to raise the nation´s debt cap.

Washington – Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-MO, issued a video statement Friday in response to reports that the Internal Revenue Service unfairly targeted conservative nonprofit groups. (Snip) “There’s a reason Lady Justice wears a blindfold in America. That is because in America, we don’t apply the law based on who you are, who you know, or what you believe.
