| An Obama administration official reportedly attended a Monday meeting with Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) officials to work on banning any speech that "associates Islam or Islamists to violence." The official was U.S. Consul General in Jeddah Anne Casper, and the meeting took place in Saudi Arabia. It apparently matters not that "Islamic terrorists have carried out over 19,000 deadly attacks in the name of Islam since the 9-11 attacks in New York," Washington DC, and Pennsylvania. The meeting was advertised as a "Symposium on Defamation of Islam."

Yet according to Rasmussen, 55% of Americans think O. is doing a swell job. We are in such trouble due to the ill-educated populace in this country. That percent must include the majority of "takers" who only want their free stuff and don´t care what the Givernment does to them.

Like American Leftists and university professors -a redundancy- many, perhaps most Muslims just don´t get the whole freedom of speech thing. It doesn´t make sense to them. Their natural allies are Leftist advocates of speech codes and political correctness, who also cannot seem to wrap their minds around freedom of expression as traditionally and clearly understood by almost everybody in the West until the Sixties.
Now Leftists say freedom of speech is swell as long as it doesn´t upset anybody or hurt anyone´s feelings or injure their self-esteem. But speech that does or even might conceivably do any of those things should be suppressed. They are not kidding. That is what they actually think. So naturally they will be supportive of speech codes and laws against defaming Islam - although as many have noted, Muslims themselves have done and are still doing more to defame Islam and the Prophet than all the negative speech in the world.

Legally speaking, a statement can only support a cause of action for defamation if said statement is untrue. Ergo, it is virtually impossible to "defame" Islam by an accurate description of the acts perpetrated in its name or the worldview of its most zealous followers. The fact that said statements are generally deemed "offensive" by Muslims is irrelevant.
That concludes my symposium.

Saying all Muslims are evil is the same concept as vilifying all Jews as greedy moneygrubbers etc. i have Muslim friends who are reasonable and educated and kind, loving people who embrace Christians and Jews.... But the fact remains that Global Islam has a problem with violence . Islam has never been reformed and badly needs it. Salafi/wahhabi death merchabts come from Saudi Arabia. We should have invaded there instead of iraq .... That is where Osama bin Laden came from. Islam has no "head" person ti admonish the faithful against heresy. Koran is open to interpretation and each Muslim gets to decide for himself what is correct ( Forgive the comparison, but thats what protestants do too, without the call to murder non believers.. That is what has fractured western Christianity i to over 22,000 sects, and led to a decline in Christian influence in America ). The muslims need a "pope" or at least a Billy Graham type guy to guide their religion away from murder. Ismaili muslims generally are quite peaceful, they love beautiful women and drink alcohol, and love life. Too bad they´re only a small sect of Islam. .

An 18-year-old Florida student’s senior year has become a nightmare — all because she was in a same-sex relationship with a 15-year-old, her family says. Kaitlyn Hunt was arrested Feb. 16 for having a physical relationship with a younger classmate, who was her girlfriend at the time, mom Kelley Hunt Smith wrote on Facebook. Under Florida law, Hunt could see up to 15 years in prison and must register as a sex offender. A plea deal, however, remains on the table that would give Hunt two years´ house arrest and one year of probation, her family said. “Does my daughter deserve to lose her life for

As the impasse over Tehran’s nuclear program worsens, those most likely to be directly affected by an Iranian bomb are showing greater alarm. While the media fixates on Israel and its possible reaction, other regional players have no less at stake. Despite Riyadh’s long-held advocacy of making the Middle East a zone free of weapons of mass destruction, there has been much speculation in the past few years about the possibility of its acquiring, or developing, nuclear weapons should Tehran obtain the bomb. In the words of Saudi King Abdullah: “If Iran developed nuclear weapons (...) everyone in the

The report did not say when the pair were arrested nor when their trial took place.

The Vatican has denied claims that Pope Francis performed an exorcism, after TV images showed a man apparently reacting to him putting his hands on his head. The encounter - during Sunday Mass - was shown on a TV channel owned by the Italian bishops´ conference. The station quoted exorcists as saying there was "no doubt" the Pope had either performed an exorcism or a prayer to free the man from the devil. Its director later apologised for "having altered the truth". The Pope´s spokesman said he "did not intend to perform any exorcism".

Mexico City - Guatemala’s highest court on Monday threw out the genocide conviction and prison sentence of the former dictator Gen. Efraín Ríos Montt. The decision by Guatemala’s Constitutional Court was a dramatic legal victory for General Ríos Montt, 86, and a blow to human rights advocates who had called his conviction a sign that Guatemala’s courts would no longer allow impunity for the country’s powerful. General Ríos Montt was sent to prison immediately after the verdict on May 10 when a three-panel tribunal found him guilty of genocide and crimes against humanity.

WASHINGTON – The Internal Revenue Serviced scandal today spread further within the White House and closer to President Obama. White House spokesman Jay Carney today disclosed that Obama’s chief of staff, Dennis McDonough, and other top White House officials had advance warning that the IRS was targeting conservative groups. But he insisted McDonough and the other White House officials purposely kept Obama out of the loop.McDonough “rightly chose not to take action” to inform Obama, Carney told reporters at the daily White House briefing.

The wheels came off the Obama administration yesterday. We learned of a startling assault on freedom of the press by the Department of Justice, following the revelation last week of the unprecedented information-gathering foray by that department against The Associated Press. Then, a few minutes later, the Justice Department’s inspector general released a report declaring that the US attorney in Arizona used the leak of a confidential memo to try to discredit a whistleblower in the notorious “gun-walking” scandal known as Fast and Furious (which got two federal agents killed). The leak was called “egregious.”

WASHINGTON – A top IRS official in the division that reviews nonprofit groups will invoke the Fifth Amendment and refuse to answer questions before a House committee investigating the agency’s improper screening of conservative nonprofit groups. Lois Lerner, the head of the exempt organizations division of the IRS, won’t answer questions about what she knew about the improper screening – or why she didn’t reveal it to Congress, according to a letter from her defense lawyer, William W. Taylor 3rd. Lerner was scheduled to appear before the House Oversight committee Wednesday.

Stuart Varney said this morning on "Varney & Co." that one of his producers was given a questionnaire with some surprisingly intrusive questions on it when he switched doctors. One of the questions was whether he/she was concerned about unsecured weapons in the home. Another asked whether he/she was "in a relationship in which you have been physically hurt or are you afraid of your partner?" Judge Andrew Napolitano explained that the question about guns comes out of a post-Sandy Hook executive order by President Obama, but it will be required under Obamacare. Varney expressed amazement

While many Americans were tuned into news coverage of the massive damage from tornadoes ravaging the state of Oklahoma, Rhode Island Democratic Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse took to the Senate floor to rail against his Republican colleagues for denying the theory of anthropogenic global warming. Whitehouse spent 15 minutes chastising GOP senators and justified his remarks by alluding to states that seek federal assistance in the wake of natural disasters. “So, you may have a question for me,” Whitehouse said. “Why do you care? Former Democratic National committee chairman Howard Dean considers the controversy over Benghazi a “joke” and “silly.” “Benghazi is a laughable joke,” Dean proclaimed twice in a discussion with Republican National Committee communications chairman Sean Spicer last week. “With all due respect, governor, when four Americans die serving this country, that’s not a joke, sir,” Spicer responded. “Oh, stop it,” said Dean. The former Democratic presidential candidate also said that there were “no serious questions being asked about Benghazi” and brushed it off as an effort by Republicans to score political points.

U.S. Sen. John McCain bucked the party line coming from many of his fellow conservatives this morning, saying suggestions that compare the trio of scandals gripping the White House to Watergate are “overreaching.” “I think it’s overreaching. We need a full and complete investigation and then we will decide the dimensions of it,” said McCain while campaigning for Republican Senate candidate Gabriel Gomez in Dorchester. “It is terrible but we have to have a full investigation before we leap to conclusions.” The maverick’s caution is a sharp contrast to the response of many Republicans
