Mark Levin rips Bill Kristol

Radio host Mark Levin disagreed Monday with Weekly Standard editor Bill Kristol on tax hikes, and said that he is aiding “Obama’s attack on capitalism and successful people.” As a panelist on “Fox News Sunday,” Kristol has argued that the Republican Party should be willing to raise taxes and that the tea party wouldn’t care if “a few millionaires pay a couple percent more in taxes.” But Levin — a prominent figure within the tea party movement — ripped Kristol’s analysis. “Among the others who I think it’s time just to go someplace and talk among yourselves

Comments:
There´s a war breaking out and Bill Kristol is prattling on about tax policy. It´s like the world is upside-down.

Standing ovation for Mr. Levin. Almost 40% of all income taxes are paid by the "wealthy" already and where has that gotten us?

Reply 2 - Posted by: noproblems, 11/20/2012 10:34:35 AM     (No. 9025418)

it is not about the taxes, it is about the spending. We would not have pressure to raise taxes if we could control our spending.

Let the Dimms own the economy, but we must put a line in the sand regarding making our children and grandchildren pay our debts.

As individuals, you legally cannot pass on your personnal debt to your heirs, but our government does this by deficit spending.

The Repugs and the Dimms needs to be tossed on the ash heep of history. They brought us this $16 trillion in debt, cultural rot, and a political system that does not produce leaders with honor and integrity..

Yo, Kristol and your running-dog RINO collaborationists:
One person paying a different rate than another by virtue of having higher income is the basic tenet of Marxism, and wrong.

It is never right, and is at the root of most of our problems, along with Racism.

Marxism, Racism, Murder, Voter Fraud and Homos.
You go for that, you a Democrat.

Bill Kristol no longer deserves my attention. Thank you Mark Levin. And yes, the problem is on the "outgo" side, not the "income."

Kristol is the classic example of a "neoconservative". Many are reformed dems/leftists who cannot make a clean break with "the call of the wild".

Ordinarily I would agree but have come to the conclusion: The Republicans should either concentrate on educating the public on why the rich should not be taxed - they obviously have no clue - or not come out against it because it makes no sense to the majority of people and remains merely an albatross around our necks to help sink us every time.

Reply 10 - Posted by: Johnny Angle, 11/20/2012 11:02:59 AM     (No. 9025507)

Taxes are just a misdirection. The real game in town is inflation of the money supply which in turn is a tax on all Americans.

Reply 11 - Posted by: chumley, 11/20/2012 11:08:40 AM     (No. 9025519)

I like Levin. If I fess up with the money to renew my satellite radio next month, he will be why.
So many Republicans have slipped farther to the left than even Democrats were 30 years ago. I guess having political influence or power is more important to them than having beliefs.
I was skeptical about quitting the party last summer, but it appears it was the right move.

Kristol´s bottom line is war. He is a true war monger. You can tell what really matters to people by what they are willing to compromise on or let go entirely. Kristol never stops advocating for war even as he is ok with taxing only the rich.

My view is if it comes to it - let ALL the Bush tax cuts expire. Shared sacrifice is called for - not some kind of parody.

Part of me wants to say, go ahead and raise taxes on the folks earning more than a million a year.... ´cause most of those Hollywood types and crony capitalists who sucked at the Obama trough (I´m kinda thinking like Boss Immelt, the GE crony who was Obama´s Jobs Czar, moving his jobs to China) voted for Dear Leader(US). Let those suckers pay (which, I´ll admit won´t cover Obama´s spending for a morning before lunch).

And if you´re a Republican making over a million a year, why haven´t you moved most of your income producing assets to tax-free municipal bonds anyway?

Mark Levin has more brains in his little finger than the entire GOP establishment. Kristol has acted like a whipped puppy on FOX since the election. WHO would want to join a party with people who talk and act like such losers???

Reply 16 - Posted by: hhfi2, 11/20/2012 11:57:29 AM     (No. 9025636)

The problem with Levin´s position is that it´s a lose-lose for the GOP. They will get no electoral benefit from taking a principled stand on behalf of overtaxed millionaires. Of course, Obama´s tax on the rich is pointless and counterproductive. Even Obama knows it won´t amount to squat in terms of revenue. Even some Dems are finally admitting that they´d be fine with us going over the fiscal cliff and for everyone´s taxes to go up. It might tank the economy, but if they cared about that, they wouldn´t be Democrats. All they care about is getting more money to spend to solidify their political power.

Letting all the rates rise will result in a windfall to the government and a massive amount of anger from the middle class, which they can then direct against those heartless, plutocratic Republicans, who let everyone´s rates go up just because they wanted to protect the rich. Obama gets everything he wants, plus he gets to pin all the negative fallout on the GOP, who won´t win another election for a generation. Levin´s stance is a classic case of someone concentrating so hard on winning the battle that he loses the war.

Reply 17 - Posted by: Skeptical1, 11/20/2012 12:16:50 PM     (No. 9025683)

I heard Kristol´s comments, and they seemed reasonable to me. One of his points was that having lost the political debate, Republicans should try to limit the damage by restricting tax increases to very high income earners, not the $250,000 earners that the Democrats target. This is not completely unlike what Romney was proposing, albeit it´s done with rates rather than deductions. It has the virtue of being doable.

Let´s face it, the argument against tax increases on millionaires is a very tough sell. Our side tried and failed to win this argument.

Letting ALL the Bush tax cuts expire will indeed result in a *windfall* to he government - the federal government. And who controls the purse strings? Not Obama. Not Reid. The GOP House. No money can be spent without a bill originating in the House. The debt can be paid down and our bills paid. Imagine that :-)

The idea that the GOP is too stupid to win a national argument with Obama and the democrats over why everyone´s taxes went up is truly a sad admission that you do NOT believe in the republicans. If the republicans cannot hold strong or even advocate successfully for their position - why even have them?

Kristol on the obama payroll. Taxing the ´rich´ is useless, even if you confiscate all assets of the rich it would add up to 5% of what the gov spends each year.

Long before the Internal Revenue Service revealed it had improperly targeted conservative 501(c)(4) groups, a group of Democratic senators led by New York Sen. Chuck Schumer urged the IRS to do just that. The IRS’s admission last Friday that it had singled out tea party and other groups for extra audits and delays has raised concerns that President Barack Obama’s administration quietly attempted to stymy opponents through intimidation. But many prominent Democrats — including Montana Sen. Max Baucus, Americans United for the Separation of Church and State and the New York Times editorial board — had been

On Hugh Hewitt’s Thursday night program, National Review columnist Mark Steyn explained why the Obama administration’s response to last September’s terrorist attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi was so appalling.“They let him die, and then told lies over his coffin,” he told fill-in host Guy Benson. Steyn said that the late U.S. ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens was a true believer of President Barack Obama and then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s view of the Arab Spring, that it was a positive movement and was trying to make the best of it. On Aaron Klein’s weekend show on New York City’s WABC radio, Oklahoma Republican Sen. James Inhofe accused the Obama administration of buying up ammunition at an unprecedented level to bypass the Second Amendment so gun-owners “can’t even buy ammunition because government is purchasing so much.” “Let’s make sure that your audience out there is aware, Aaron, that our president, Obama, has been doing everything he could to stop the private ownership of guns in America,” Inhofe said. “You know that, everyone knows that. And yet he’s been voted down in a big way by a large majority.

On Thursday night’s edition of "The O’Reilly Factor" on the Fox News Channel, host Bill Bill O’Reilly and former Clinton campaign adviser James Carville debated whether liberals have been pushed further to left by activists and various media factions. O’Reilly pointed to Wednesday’s May Day protest in Seattle as one piece of evidence. He also pinned the blame on MSNBC, arguing that his employer’s cable news rival is “putting forth” a far left ideology. Carville disagreed and said the hosts on MSNBC network, including Rachel Maddow, Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski do not hold views of the far left.

During a Senate hearing on immigration reform Tuesday, Republican Sen. Jeff Sessions and Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano had a testy back-and-forth over the performance of Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials. Sessions challenged Napolitano on whether she had met with leader of the ICE employees’ union in the wake of reports of low morale among ICE agents. Napolitano replied that she had not. “I think you should have met with them,” Sessions said. “I think there’s a real problem there. We have a very real problem. WASHINGTON – The Internal Revenue Serviced scandal today spread further within the White House and closer to President Obama. White House spokesman Jay Carney today disclosed that Obama’s chief of staff, Dennis McDonough, and other top White House officials had advance warning that the IRS was targeting conservative groups. But he insisted McDonough and the other White House officials purposely kept Obama out of the loop.McDonough “rightly chose not to take action” to inform Obama, Carney told reporters at the daily White House briefing.

The wheels came off the Obama administration yesterday. We learned of a startling assault on freedom of the press by the Department of Justice, following the revelation last week of the unprecedented information-gathering foray by that department against The Associated Press. Then, a few minutes later, the Justice Department’s inspector general released a report declaring that the US attorney in Arizona used the leak of a confidential memo to try to discredit a whistleblower in the notorious “gun-walking” scandal known as Fast and Furious (which got two federal agents killed). The leak was called “egregious.”
