| That didn’t take long. Ever since CIA Director David H. Petraeus resigned, one question has risen above all others: Why? Yes, he had an affair with a woman 20 years his junior (quite the mentor), but hey, there was once a top federal official who had sex with an intern his daughter’s age right in the White House Oval Office, and he didn’t step down. Curl presents a very plausible scenario, including the WH holding their FBI wild card, just in case Petraeus (a Bush holdover, after all) got recalcitrant.

Ever think Broadwell was AIMED at Petraeus? I´m not talking about a specific plan but rather a wide spread philosophy of the ´progressives´ going out of their way to compromise Men of Power on the Right, in order to turn them in to their political rivals (for an appropriate reward) at a later date. I´ve seen this so often, yet done so amateurishly, that I think I have the background of this incident pegged.
And it should be a lesson to all Men of Good Will. If it plays to your libido, and seems to good to be true, it probably is. Keep it zipped or it WILL come back to bite you and everything you believe in.

My opinion, fwiw, Broadwell might have been ´aimed´ at Petraeus but she was head over heels in the end. The FBI was told to investigate him to find dirt should he decide to run for higher office, i.e. POTUS or VPOTUS, and the dirt gleaned came in handy when Fast and Furious Libya went awry. WH will continue to smear in order to hide what they were really engaged in and the 10 second sound-bite numbskulls in this country will believe Benghazi is something found in the Kama Sutra.

Nothing changes the fact that Petraeus was singing the WH line that the attack was in response to the video when he briefed Congress on 9/14. He obviously knew better but was willing to go along with an absolute lie that impacted the presidential election.

I think he agreed to make the deal with the Devil - and parrot the White House line about the video to Congress, when he was not under oath. In exchange he was told the affair would be kept under wraps. "It will all blow over in a few days after the election, which will be the big news," he was told.
When called again to testify to Congress, this time under oath, and looking at a perjury conviction, he got cold feet, and told Obama he was out. He was fired and the scandal was released. It was simple Chicago-style extortion, and he could bring down this Administration if he has proof.
Unfortunately, it will take some bravery in this hurricane of distortions, distractions and spin for the truth to come out. The White House is trying to sweep the mess under the rug, and the LSM and Congress are wielding the brooms.

According to Mr. Curl, one scenario is that P4 thought Obama would keep the affair secret as reward for his service to the nation, and it would eventually blow over AND he would be able to keep his job? Petraeus should have NEVER EVER agreed to work for Obama. If he could not see what sort of man Obama was, I just don´t know what to say. In the end, reputation, honor, family relationships perhaps irreparably damaged. Tragic beyond words.

Let’s face it. The Great Gatsby never has been—and probably won’t ever be—successfully turned into a great motion picture. Many have tried (four flop movies, not to mention various small-screen attempts, including a truncated but memorable Playhouse 90 with Robert Ryan and Jeanne Crain in the golden days when TV still knew what quality programming was). Robert Redford was a perfect Gatsby in the pretty but boring 1974 version by Jack Clayton, but the movie was dead on arrival. After months of weighing potential candidates, President Obama finally has his pick for the director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, which oversees the housing giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. WASHINGTON – The Internal Revenue Serviced scandal today spread further within the White House and closer to President Obama. White House spokesman Jay Carney today disclosed that Obama’s chief of staff, Dennis McDonough, and other top White House officials had advance warning that the IRS was targeting conservative groups. But he insisted McDonough and the other White House officials purposely kept Obama out of the loop.McDonough “rightly chose not to take action” to inform Obama, Carney told reporters at the daily White House briefing.

The wheels came off the Obama administration yesterday. We learned of a startling assault on freedom of the press by the Department of Justice, following the revelation last week of the unprecedented information-gathering foray by that department against The Associated Press. Then, a few minutes later, the Justice Department’s inspector general released a report declaring that the US attorney in Arizona used the leak of a confidential memo to try to discredit a whistleblower in the notorious “gun-walking” scandal known as Fast and Furious (which got two federal agents killed). The leak was called “egregious.”

WASHINGTON – A top IRS official in the division that reviews nonprofit groups will invoke the Fifth Amendment and refuse to answer questions before a House committee investigating the agency’s improper screening of conservative nonprofit groups. Lois Lerner, the head of the exempt organizations division of the IRS, won’t answer questions about what she knew about the improper screening – or why she didn’t reveal it to Congress, according to a letter from her defense lawyer, William W. Taylor 3rd. Lerner was scheduled to appear before the House Oversight committee Wednesday.

Stuart Varney said this morning on "Varney & Co." that one of his producers was given a questionnaire with some surprisingly intrusive questions on it when he switched doctors. One of the questions was whether he/she was concerned about unsecured weapons in the home. Another asked whether he/she was "in a relationship in which you have been physically hurt or are you afraid of your partner?"
