| A deal to avoid the “fiscal cliff” should include entitlement reforms as well as new revenues — but not higher tax rates — Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-N.H.) said in the GOP’s weekly address. Republicans have warmed to the idea of new revenues since President Obama’s reelection, but lawmakers are still divided over whether to raise tax rates on the wealthy or find money elsewhere. “Tax reform that eliminates wasteful tax preferences to generate revenue will help bring fairness and efficiency to our tax system. This approach makes more sense than raising tax rates—which will harm

The emotional and punitive nature of leftist tax reform seems incomprehensible.
One would think that the parasitic element would welcome a more vibrant and productive host organism.
Where is the logic in strangling the productivity of the wealth generating sector ?
Unless....a collectivist takeover requires a complete collapse first ?
Or....what do these lefties really want ?
Do they even know ?

They are mentally ill also known as libtards (communists, socialists, fascists, stalinists, marxists, democrats, and so on). Attempting to sort out any reason or logic in their actions is an exercise in futility. They mostly present the same symptoms that those with borderline personality disorder (presenting fragile personality behaviors) show - in a nutshell, reality is in their heads, so whatever they believe reality is determines how they act. we lack the resources to cure them And they will not quit while they exist. They cannot be negotiated with, reasoned with or trusted to keep their promise or word. They are domestic and foreign enemies of the constitution, and as such are most useful as fertilizer.

I still think that closing tax loopholes is the way to go, and I still think that is not an option because Obama´s rich supporters like entertainers and tech leaders make the biggest use of such loopholes. I doubt if the "average" person making over 250K to, say 1 million, take much if any advantage of the more esoteric loopholes.

The Dems believe it´s all on the tax-rate increase, so give it to them.
Stop trying to bail them out with the loopholes and other revenue generating issues.
They didn´t focus on those, and have pinned their entire balancing of the budget on this tax increase.
Let them explain why their plan didn´t put a dent into the deficit, or balance the budget.

You know Boehner is going to cave. He has a long history of caving.
Write your congress critter. Tell him/her to cut spending first, increase taxes last. Spending cuts now, increased taxes in 3 years.

It doesn´t matter. Like all other "tax reform" bills, they´ll load the pork and real loopholes when it gets to conference committee, while giving lip service to the loopholes (the term Dems misleadingly use as a substitute for the word "deductions") they closed. Same old garbage in a newer package. If they want new revenues, get rid of every refundable tax credit.

Even 0bama admits higher tax rates means lower total revenues!! He knows and doesn´t care! He thinks superficial "fairness" is more important, and he has to lie about that, too. He compares capital gains (which is what retirees get from their 401K and IRA accounts) to simple worker income tax, knowing that the top 1% can choose to shift their compensation from "income" to "dividends."
He said as much in the pre-convention 2008 debate with Hillary as posted on You Tube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gJimLZRC9N8

She must be the only repub in congress who doesn´t want higher taxes...on all the shows the repubs are telling the repubs to grow up & accept higher taxes. Boehner will cave.

WASHINGTON — At times on Thursday, it seemed President Obama was taking part in a debate rather than giving a speech. Deep into an address at the National Defense University, where Mr. Obama sought to redefine America’s approach to fighting terrorism, a heckler repeatedly interrupted from the back of the room, demanding an end to drone strikes and the closing of the Guantánamo Bay detention center in Cuba. The heckler — though she objected strenuously to being described that way — was Medea Benjamin, a co-founder of Code Pink, a group opposed to United States military actions.

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” That’s the full text of the First Amendment. But (with apologies to the old Far Side comic), this is what many in the press, academia, and government would hear if you read it aloud: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, blah blah blah, or abridging the freedom of the press,

Fox News chief Roger Ailes´s letter to his employees is a battle cry that will echo beyond the Avenue of the Americas. "The administration’s attempt to intimidate Fox News and its employees will not succeed and their excuses will stand neither the test of law, the test of decency, nor the test of time. We will not allow a climate of press intimidation, unseen since the McCarthy era, to frighten any of us away from the truth," he wrote. Already, Fox News has found some unlikely allies--even in the left media. Salon.com´s Washington, DC correspondent, a frequent critic

A religious group spewing what the owners of One Liberty Place call hate speech against women, whites and gays can no longer demonstrate immediately outside the building´s entrance at 16th and Chestnut Streets, a judge ruled today. The owners of One Liberty Place in Center City Philadelphia filed a lawsuit Wednesday against the Israelite School of Universal Practical Knowledge. The group is frequently seen perched on Center City street corners shouting at passersby through bullhorns. Liberty Place Retail Associates, which owns the building, has asked the state court to bar the group from gathering in front of the entrance

WASHINGTON — Schoolchildren from New Jersey shore communities battered by Superstorm Sandy will join Michelle Obama for a garden harvest next week. The White House says the first lady will also be joined Tuesday by students who helped plant the crops last month. The New Jersey students are from Union Beach Memorial School in Union Beach and Long Beach Island Grade School in Ship Bottom. Both schools were damaged in last October’s storm. Both also teach their students about healthy eating, which is one of the first lady’s causes. The students who helped plant lettuce, broccoli and various other crops

TRENTON — President Barack Obama will return to New Jersey on Tuesday to survey Hurricane Sandy recovery efforts with Gov. Chris Christie, according to a statement obtained by The Star-Ledger. The visit will mark Obama´s second trip to the shore since the storm hit about six months ago. “As residents and businesses prepare for a busy summer season, President Obama will visit the Jersey Shore with Governor Christie on Tuesday to view the ongoing recovery efforts after Hurricane Sandy devastated areas of the coastline last fall," the White House statement says.

Thursday morning on Chris Jansing´s MSNBC show, Politico Senior Reporter Lois Romano referred to Guantanamo Bay as a "really bad political tar baby" for President Obama: JANSING: Lois, let me start with Guantanamo Bay. Everybody knows [Obama] made this campaign pledge the first time he ran. Again to the question ´why now?´ -- was he pushed by the hundred prisoners who are on hunger strikes? ROMANO: I think it just came to another boiling point right now. [Obama] ran on this in 2008, and if you recall, when he came into office, there was a lot of turmoil

Former Rep. Anthony Weiner, whose career in public life came to an abrupt end when he sent lewd pictures to a college student on Twitter, jumped back into politics on Wednesday by announcing a bid for mayor of New York City. “Look, I’ve made some big mistakes and I know I’ve let a lot of people down,” the Democrat said in a 2-minute video announcing his bid. “But I’ve also learned some tough lessons. I’m running for mayor because I’ve been fighting for the middle class and those struggling to make it for my entire life.

The public got its first look Thursday at Lois Lerner, who has gone from faceless IRS bureaucrat to the face that launched what feels like 1,000 congressional hearings and conspiracy theories. But it was only a brief sighting since she didn´t stay long at a House hearing to further probe her role in how some IRS workers came to target conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status. (Snip)She did make a short statement to declare her innocence, however. Lerner´s motivation was more transparent than much of what the IRS has done in connection with this controversy. She was determined to

When you get right down to it, the political targeting and stalling of tax-exempt applications by the IRS was an effort to defund the Tea Party. Rick Santelli, one of the Tea Party founders and my CNBC colleague, was the first to make this point. I’ve taken it a step further: The IRS was taking the Tea Party out of play for the 2012 election, as it looked to avoid a repeat of 2010 and another Tea Party landslide. There are a lot of numbers out there.

What´s so interesting about 60 tea partiers protesting the IRS in San Jose, California on Tuesday, May 21st? The fact that this bit of information was conveyed to the protesters by a Department of Homeland Security officer who was also in attendance. What was a DHS agent doing at the San Jose Tea Party protest? (snip) they weren´t just spying on us in San Jose and monitoring us in San Francisco, they were watching us throughout the entire state

On “Fox News Sunday” last weekend, White House aide Dan Pfeiffer was asked about President Barack Obama’s whereabouts the night of the Sept. 11 attack in Benghazi. This was the night when we lost our first ambassador in 30 years, and when three other Americans were killed in an attack that lasted all night long at multiple locations within the eastern Libyan city. Since the president is commander in chief, one would think where he was and what he did during such an event would be of obvious public concern.
