| President Obama had a rare “bring-it-on” moment when ABC News’s Jonathan Karl asked him about threats by Republican Sens. John McCain and Lindsey Graham to block the confirmation of Susan Rice, should he nominate her for secretary of state.(Snip)Obama’s over-the-top defense of Rice was surprising, particularly in contrast to the president’s relative indifference in accepting the resignation of CIA chief David Petraeus, one of the most capable public servants. And it was disappointing, because McCain, even if wrong on the particulars, is right about Rice.

And FTA:
Back when she was an assistant secretary of state during the Clinton administration, she appalled colleagues by flipping her middle finger at Richard Holbrooke during a meeting with senior staff at the State Department, according to witnesses.
Already self-besmirched.

This was nothing more than a brilliant head fake to get McCain all wee wee-ed up.
It´s been Kerry for Sec of State all along.

I disagree #2- I think Obama has certain promises he must try to keep-- his appointments at the SUPCO should have gotten scrutiny and eventually turned down.
I think he´s calculated that the press will lay down on this too-- and it seems even the lapdogs can howl about Rice!

With this nugget, Ms. Rice´s favorables should spike.
Just sayin´.

If the stupendously rich John Kerry takes a cabinet position, then Republican Scott Brown is well positioned to win the special election to fill Kerry´s vacant MA Senate seat. Time will tell who will be nominated for SecState and SecDef.

It´s clear what happened here when you consider the liberal mind. Rice was sent out specifically because she was clueless about Benghase. She could always fall back on her ignorance to account for the lies should the media not provide adequate protection.
Rice was to do her duty for the agenda and would be rewarded with Sec of State. This is the way Chicago works. The government is used for maintenance of power. Once attaining power you use the tax money and position to hold on to the power.
And any lie and illegality is ok if used to maintain power as the people will be better off under liberal government. It is simply immoral to allow the people to be under conservative rule.

She was the one who turned down the Yemeni offer of Bin Laden´s head during Clinton´s time. It wasn´t long after that more American targets were hit overseas and then 9-11. She is a traitor and a third rate bureaucrat.

Don´t forget the third member of the trio excoriating Rice - Kelly Ayotte. The liberals want you to forget that this is not a based on gender, only a liberal´s willful lying to the American people.
Remember this when you read articles about Rice´s poor performance as UN Ambassador.

I didn´t get through the 2000 comments but has someone raised the fact that it was via Susan Rice in the Clinton Administration that the word "Genocide" was removed from all U.S. government documents concerning the the mass-genocidal Rwanda killings? What was it 80,000 people?
Think she´s going to give a flip about Benghazi? Or that Hillary will?

#8, I think you´re close, but my take is a little different. Kerry will eventually get SecState and Powell will go to SecDef. He´s done the State thing, and wore 4 stars. Both will be disasters for the country, though, IMHO.

#13 it was 800,000 and Rice was heavily involved. Samantha Power, Obama´s amazon warrior, referred to her as a bystander to genocide. I don´t think she´d get 40 votes to confirm.

So what´s 800,00 dead in Rawanda when one is an Affirmative Action hire where culpability does not exist...lies and lack of meaningful qualifications mean nothing in the presence of melanin and progesterone ,...being Black and Female is more effective than the Iron Dome and comes with the guarantee that outrageous heinous decisions are absolutely acceptable...and any who might call attention to the truth...are drummed out like bit players in "Lord of the Flies"..... Rice wears the same armor that Obama expects will keep him in play as he kills America and her Constitution....and demonises any who dare whisper the truth....the word "Blackmail" takes on new meaning

Suzie is way out of her league as a possible Secretary of State. The one thing she would be qualified for is Secretary of the noon meeting of Alcholics Anonymous in Washington D.C., and then only if she has been sober for one year. Looks like she couldn´t even take that commitment.

I do believe that Obama is absolutely enjoying himself floating names for top posts that will wee-wee up the GOP and especially conservatives. After all, national security issues are a tool to be used for political purposes to this gang. #5. Yes. Rice is all those things and if she does what Obama and/or Hilary tell her to, she can expect to move along to the next high-paying secure federal job - whether qualified or not.

Nurses treating Boston bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev say their natural inclination toward compassion makes it difficult to see the 19-year-old as a possible terrorist. And they have to make concerted effort — and buddy-system pacts — to keep from referring to him with terms of endearment such as “hon.” One 29-year-old nurse said on Gawker: “When you’re in the room, it’s just a patient. You’re here to … make sure they’re feeling better. When you step away, you take it in. I am compassionate, that’s what we do. But should I be? The rest of the world hates him right now.”

The government will use any and all information at its disposal to find journalist sources, as shown in The Washington Post´s report this morning on a Department of Justice investigation into Fox News chief correspondent James Rosen, who may face criminal charges for reporting government secrets. In June 2009, Rosen reported on CIA analysis suggesting that North Korea might respond to new UN sanctions with renewed nuclear tests. In order to determine how Rosen learned of the analysis, which had been issued by the CIA only a few hours prior, FBI investigators used every tool at their disposal: analyzing

Last Thursday, Congressman Darrell Issa (R-CA) started a Twitter prairie fire with his call for people to describe #ObamacareInThreeWords. (My contribution was “Sorry, Doctor retired.”) (Snip) The White House, never shy to jump into social media, responded with a flurry of tweets, including “It’s. The. Law.” which smacked, more than anything, of typical Obama chest-thumping. Is the administration sure they want to aggressively take credit for a law which, for almost the entire three years since its passage, has had more Americans supporting its repeal than supporting the law itself and which, according to Rasmussen Reports

PORTLAND, Ore.—In the 1950s, after health authorities began fluoridating U.S. water supplies, they faced opposition from groups like the John Birch Society, which called it "an unconstitutional mass medication of the public." Sixty years later, the fight over fluoridation has erupted in Portland, where the battle has drawn in the city´s craft-beer brewers, organic-food purveyors and environmentalists. Even some of the city´s famed indie-rock musicians are taking sides. The debate has prompted something of an existential crisis in this self-consciously liberal city, which votes Tuesday on whether to overturn the city council´s 2012 decision to fluoridate.

I first saw the headline early Tuesday on Real Clear Politics, a political news site where I generally start my morning. It´s not where I expect to see a story on breast cancer. Then I checked my e-mail messages -- they all seemed to be about Angelina Jolie´s op-ed. Students in my undergraduate class wanted to discuss it in our next session. Colleagues expressed concern and wondered what the right response was. People I don´t even know sent e-mails. One, from a research fellow at the International Agency for Research on Cancer, nicely summed up the general concern:

The late columnist William Safire once said that a good clue that someone in Washington was engaged in “an artful dodge,” i.e., a cover-up, was that they used the phrase “mistakes were made.” Safire defined it as a “passive-evasive way of acknowledging error while distancing the speaker from responsibility for it.” The phrase became infamous when both Richard Nixon and Ron Ziegler, his press secretary, deployed it to explain away Watergate without explaining who did what and when or whether any ill motive was involved. Astonishingly, the Internal Revenue Service resurrected the Nixonian expression within hours

Just when you think the news surrounding Obamagate cannot get any worse, it does. Some say U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder’s days on the job are numbered and that it’s just a matter of when he’ll be forced to resign. While I’ll not shed a tear over Holder’s departure, one of the replacement names being floated has me reaching for tissues: Gov. Deval Patrick. Patrick has denied he’s interested — but the job isn’t on offer yet. If it is, President Obama should not select him nor should he be confirmed by the Senate for a plethora of reasons.

What did President Obama do on the evening of 9/11/12 when our men were under attack in Benghazi? The invaluable Andrew McCarthy reminds us that Obama and Secretary Clinton had a 10:00 p.m. phone call of which many (including, I think, Chris Wallace) have lost sight. This morning when Wallace asked Obama aide Dan Pfeiffer what Obama was up to that evening, Pfeiffer declared the line of inquiry “offensive.” Translation: Obama and his minions would prefer to “move on” and are warning the likes of FNC off:(Snip for video)The Weekly Standard’s Daniel Halper has posted the rush transcript

WASHINGTON – The Internal Revenue Serviced scandal today spread further within the White House and closer to President Obama. White House spokesman Jay Carney today disclosed that Obama’s chief of staff, Dennis McDonough, and other top White House officials had advance warning that the IRS was targeting conservative groups. But he insisted McDonough and the other White House officials purposely kept Obama out of the loop.McDonough “rightly chose not to take action” to inform Obama, Carney told reporters at the daily White House briefing.

The Washington Post on Monday reported that Obama’s Department of Justice was investigating journalists before they started wiretapping the Associated Press – for one, Fox News correspondent James Rosen in 2010. Their headline wasn´t "Obama Team Also Spied on Fox News." Fox wasn´t in the headline, on A-1 or on A-12, where the story continued. Newly obtained court documents “reveal how deeply investigators explored the private communications of a working journalist — and raise the question of how often journalists have been investigated as closely as Rosen was in 2010.” Reporter Ann Marimow began:

A senior adviser to President Obama mounted a combative defense of the administration on Sunday, saying the controversies enveloping the White House were the result of Republican lawmakers’ trying to “drag Washington into a swamp of partisan fishing expeditions, trumped-up hearings and false allegations.”The remarks came from Dan Pfeiffer, a member of the president’s inner circle, as he appeared on all five major Sunday morning talk shows in an effort to move the administration past what commentators have described as a “hell week” of controversy and missteps.

Stuart Varney said this morning on "Varney & Co." that one of his producers was given a questionnaire with some surprisingly intrusive questions on it when he switched doctors. One of the questions was whether he/she was concerned about unsecured weapons in the home. Another asked whether he/she was "in a relationship in which you have been physically hurt or are you afraid of your partner?" Judge Andrew Napolitano explained that the question about guns comes out of a post-Sandy Hook executive order by President Obama, but it will be required under Obamacare. Varney expressed amazement
