| At his first press conference after being elected to a second term, President Barack Obama did everything he could to avoid directly answering the difficult questions on the growing scandal about his administration’s handling of the terrorist attacks in Benghazi. But in so doing, the president inadvertently told us quite a bit.At one point he said: “And we’re after an election now. I think it is important for us to find out exactly what happened in Benghazi, and I’m happy to cooperate in any ways that Congress wants.”

These people systematically leaking the truth out does nothing to bring 4 people back to life or change the left´s thinking on it´s muslim outreach.
Obama´s smooth talking this now so he can get Rice confirmed without a hassle. The cacking old hens in the House are saying this is racist, sexist and political to oppose Rice.
These old bags see nothing wrong with a woman being marched on TV to tell an intentional lie, they all admit now.

Right. Couldn´t possibly "find out exactly what happened" while pulling the wool over the nation´s eyes, could he?
Since, by The Won´s own declaration, Rice had "nothing to do with Benghazi," why was she trotted out to (count them) five Sunday political news shows? Because Hillary wouldn´t go? Because Petraeus wouldn´t go? Because not even Panetta would go?
And now we learn that the talking points had been scrubbed of any mention of terrorism and specifically, AQ?
There is something unseemly about the tone of The Won´s defense of Rice. Just saying.

Pay attention, everyone. Steve Hayes is the best actual journalist in the Capitol. "Woodstein" all in one; emphasis on "actual" journalist, as opposed to the collective official excuse-makers in the so-called "news" biz.

I believe they´re counting on "truth fatigue from a thousand drips". They know that indisputable evidence exists showing Obama knew the circumstances and purposely sent Rice out with a false set of talking points. So they´re preemptively leaking a few tidbits at a time, knowing that fatigue eventually sets in and the MSM moves on to other stories.

Stephen - this is a rational explanation regarding the talking points which were clearly diluted for political purposes in the run-up to the election. But what is missing is why Petreaus himself blamed the "video" in his first briefing to Congress in September.

Obama lied and watched our citizens die at Benghazi. Susan Rice intentionally lied about Benghazi.
We re-elected the sleaziest, worst president our Nation has ever seen, so believing he and the democrats cheated to get re-elected is an easy analysis of the situation. Or we have a LOT of the dumbest people on this planet living among us...

I believe that the kardashian voters just do not care. And Susan Rice is utterly charmless, so those democratic hags in congress, yesterday, had to mount a 1950s defense of a poor woman who was being picked on by mean men, because she was female and black. Such a defense tells the lie of the women´s movement. Don´t open that door for the woman, you pig of a man. that´s an insult to her and to all women. But when a woman messes up, as Rice did, attack the men who say anything negative about her. She is helpless, don´t you know?

As for why Susan Rice, #7 correctly points out why she was their perfect choice...female, black, and clueless. They calculated (correctly) that any criticism of her or what she falsely presented could and would be immediately defended by various groups as sexist, racist, and mean-spirited (i.e., McCainist). It even gave Obama an opportunity to hermaphrodite up by swinging his man purse at the impudent questioning of her choice.

Re poster #5: "But what is missing is why Petreaus himself blamed the ´video´ in his first briefing to Congress in September."
The hearing was behind closed doors and I bet that question was asked. The answer may well be so explosive that no one wanted to publicly reveal it... yet.

I´m not original in this thought, but I´ll point it out again: Obama was far more indignant at the impudent questioning of his poor little ambassador-lady (uh - black - ambassador-lady, that is), than he was at the MURDER of his own (gay white) Ambassador in a hell-hole by islamist orcs.
Ah, the ´war on women´ proceeds apace.

She´s black and a woman -- SO -- she doesn´t have to take responsibility for her actions. She´s an affirmative action U.N. ambassador.
Com´on stop picking on her. Why should she have to actually do her job. She doesn´t know better -- she´s black -- or so the blackrepresentative from Michigan said....

Can any of these 3 trace their roots back to slavery which ended 1 1/2 centuries ago?

I think Obama is indignant over Rice because by attacking her stupid statements he feels he is being attacked (and rightfully so). This entire story points to the juvenile thinking of Obama and the attempt of covering his own imcompetence with lies and excuses. Why is he unable to visualize his outrage over Rice (because he is defending himself) tells the story because there has been no outrage over the deaths of 4 Americans?

And if they could, #14? Big whoop!
As said in a thread above the big question is not the changing of talking points, but why was layer after layer of security removed each time the consulate was previously attacked? And why was the ambassador that day? And why was the staff still there after all other diplomats had fled?
This is far from being resolved. There are at least 30 staff members from whom we have not heard. What do they know and where are they being secluded to be de-briefed?

My take on Petraus´ first appearance to cite the "video" was an ´or else´ situation. Say it was the "video" or else we will spill the beans about your ´Broadwell´ affair. Perhaps a niggling conscience then made him decide to fess up to the affair in his reason for resigning from the CIA. Blackmail??? Why had the Drone been dispatched to Benghazi? For the Drone´s appearance as early in the evening it had to have been sent hours before the assassination. Why?? Who ordered it to cover Benghazi? Lots of unanswered questions.

Barack Obama has been airbrushing Islamist terrorists out of just about every obvious terrorist event that has occurred since he was elected. This is just another instance of that.
Remember the Fort Hood murders by a Muslim who was shouting in Arabic "god is great" as he was performing his personal jihad against American soldiers. Following that, the politically correct Obama crew, both military and civilian, denied that the murders were an act of terrorism, and still refers to the incident as "workplace violence". It looks like the majority of American voters go along with that!

FTA- " The staffer said Petraeus testified that he allowed other agencies to alter the talking points as they saw fit without asking for final review, to get them out quickly.” Petraeus is looking shadier every day. And just as corrupt as the rest of the Obama Administration. It´s telling that not a single member of the gerbil media has asked Obama-exactly what time were you notified and what specifically did you do ? And how did you spend the evening ? Other than going to bed early. It´s pretty obvious by all the wishy washy and lawyerly answers from Carney and Barry, that he did not convene a meeting of the NSC ( except for the military , it consists of the usual bozos like Rice, Biden ,Timmy Geithner, Panetta , Hillary , Petreaus , Jay Z , Beyonce and possibly Jarrett and Holder ) and didn´t consider the attack and the deaths to be any big deal. Obama gave more tributes to Michael Jackson than he has to the four dead Americans. Ed Henry of FOX began asking Barry a tough question, but , then wavered and weakened by the end. I wish FOX would make Hume their WH correspondent , he would not grovel like the rest.

Here is my opinion on Susan Rice. I think she was being setup to to take the fall so Jay Carney could get in front of the press corp and say "She obviously does not speak for the WH. We knew all along this was terrorist, but she went rogue on us and began spewing this video response."
It all went south when Gen. Petraeus went "All In". It is a good thing he testified when he did so doesn´t go all "Vince Foster" on us and wind up dead.(See Clinton Admin for clarification on Vince Foster.)

Reminding me more of Watergate with every passing day, every "drip, drip, drip" -
who is going to be "Deep Throat" in this -
when are we going to see and hear the "missing tape" (with Nixon, it was the 18 1/2 minutes missing that was so serious, but it did not involve people being savagely murdered right in front of the CIC) -
I daresay there must be plenty of "expletives deleted" going on in the past week, since Petraeus announced his resignation -
now who is going to get their foot (or something) caught in a wringer?

It is interesting that the administration’s spokesperson about what happened in Benghazi was the least knowledgeable about what happened. The fact that Susan Rice was willing to parrot whatever she was told by somebody in administration puts in question if she totally lacks a brain. Somebody showing less intelligence than the village idiot should not be made Secretary of State. She is either a liar, a fool, or both.

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) appeared on CNN’s The Situation Room on Tuesday evening where he was asked to respond to former Vice President Dick Cheney who told Fox News Channel’s Chris Wallace that the junior Kentucky senator was wrong when he criticized the NSA’s surveillance programs. Paul tore into the Bush administration’s role in the establishment of the post-9/11 security regime, noting that he thinks it is possible to catch terrorists using methods consistent with the Constitution. Cheney told the Fox News Sunday host that Paul was incorrect in his criticisms of the NSA’s communications monitoring programs.

During the 2012 presidential campaign, Mitt Romney maintained that the health-reform law he signed in Massachusetts was not the same as Obamacare. “Our plan was a state solution to a state problem,” Governor Romney insisted. He was trying to fix Massachusetts’ uniquely broken insurance market, he said;(Snip) The best way to think about Romneycare is on a left-right scale of 1 to 10. If 10 is a libertarian utopia, and 1 is a left-wing dystopia, Governor Romney moved Massachusetts’ individual health-insurance market from a 2 to a 4. That is, it moved that market modestly to the right.

HARTFORD, Conn. -- Texas Gov. Rick Perry extolled the tax policies and regulatory climate of his state as he courted gun manufacturers that have threatened to leave Connecticut since the state passed new gun-control laws in response to the Newtown school massacre. Perry shot at a firing range at Connecticut´s venerable Colt Manufacturing Co., one of the plants he toured, and met privately with company owners and other businesses at a downtown Hartford restaurant. At a brief news conference afterward, the Republican offered a conservative policy blueprint in a state run by Democrats.

Domestic spying capabilities used by the National Security Agency to collect massive amounts of data on American citizens could soon be available to the Department of Homeland Security — a bureaucracy with the power to arrest citizens that is not subject to limitations imposed on the NSA. Unlike the DHS, the NSA is an intelligence agency, not a domestic law enforcement agency. It cannot arrest those suspected of wrongdoing. That power of the federal government lies with agencies under the jurisdiction of the Justice Department, the Treasury, Homeland Security and other law enforcement agencies.

LONDON — Germany is normally a welcoming place for American leaders. But President Barack Obama will walk into a German storm Tuesday provoked by revelations about the Prism and Boundless Informant (who comes up with these names?) surveillance programs of the U.S. National Security Agency. No nation, after the Nazis and the Stasi, has such intense feelings about personal privacy as Germany. The very word “Datenschutz,” or data protection, is a revered one. The notion that the United States has been able to access the e-mails or Facebook accounts or Skype conversations of German citizens

Amid a steady rise of backlash, Edward Snowden, the 29-year-old former National Security Agency contractor who was the source of a spring of leaks about the agency´s surveillance methods, conducted a live chat on The Guardian´s website Monday morning. Judging from some of the pointed questions he´s been asked and the reaction to newly leaked revelations over the past few days, it´s clear that much of the sympathy and support Snowden had built up for his early exposures is eroding. Many Americans supported his decision to leak information about a pair of National Security Agency surveillance programs, which, he detailed, gathered information

Five months into his second term, allies and enemies are as confounded as ever about who President Obama really is. Is he the dyed-in-the-wool liberal that his biggest supporters and critics suggest? Or is he a pragmatic, even cynical, politician who cares more for his popularity than taking risks for his ideological goals or living up to his rhetoric? Even in the short period since his reelection, Obama has provided evidence to support conflicting interpretations. His efforts to pass immigration reform, the unsuccessful push for stricter gun controls and tax hikes on high earners buttress the case for Obama-as-ideologue.

Charlie Rose last night asked President Obama his new Syria policy. The president first objected to it being called a new policy. "I´m not sure you can characterize this as a new policy. This is consistent with the policy that I´ve had throughout," he said. Obama then explained the goal is regional stability, and especially in Syria. "Really, what we´re trying to do is take sides against extremists of all sorts and in favor of people who are in favor of moderation, tolerance, representative government, and over the long-term, stability and prosperity for the people of Syria," said Obama.

Marco Rubio. Paul Ryan. The IRS. Illegal immigration. And fraud to the tune of billions.. Now there’s a combustible mix. Let’s start with the IRS, illegal immigration and fraud. We’ll come back in a minute to Senator Rubio and Congressman Ryan. For those who came in late, a year before the IRS scandals burst onto the scene in early May of 2013, an alert investigative reporter for WTHR-Indianapolis (Channel 13), Bob Segall by name, produced a stunning piece of journalism. Segall’s video report is found here and we will quote from his story for the basics.
