Petition wants Obama
to save Twinkies

A new White House petition wants President Obama to nationalize the "Twinkie industry," saving the popular junk food from possible extinction. "We the undersigned, hereby request Barack Obama to immediately Nationalize the Twinkie industry and prevent our nation from losing her sweet creamy center," a petition on the White House "We the People" website requests. (Snip) Hostess Brands Inc. — maker of the Twinkie, the Ding Dong and Wonder Bread — is preparing to shutter operations amid a labor strike and rising costs. Unionized workers rejected a major pay and benefit cut, sparking the latest strike.

Comments:
Is that King 0bama?? With insanity like this our nation is in far worse shape than I could ever imagine. You couldn´t make this up if you had to. I just caught the end of Rush today and wondered what he meant when he said Politico already had their headline ready: Obama Saves Twinkies

If I´m not mistaken petition came from the White House to the White House! They want to do the same to Hostess that they did to GM. Use our money to buy the company then give it the unions. What a farce this country has become.

What will Michelle say? Maybe she can change the recipe to make it sugar free, fat free, and be filled with spinach instead of cream. Then Obama can mandate that everybody buy one every day, and the Supreme Court will say it´s a tax.

MO will never go for that. Although, Twinkies may be the favorite snack of the C-in-C (choomer in chief), so there may be hope after all. /s

Limbaugh said the originator of the petition belonged to an Obama support group whose name was drowned out by a C-17 passing a bit too low. No, Rush didn´t say the name was drowned out, I did. It was going North so was perhaps taking exotic foodstuffs to Michelle Antoinette. The name could have been something like Citizens United but I really didn´t catch enough of it.

Yeah, Bam Bam, save em! Get rid of the Union slugs, let them reorganize and emerge as a profitable company. Okay Bam Bam?

Maybe Mooch can plant some Twinkie seeds in that miraculous garden of her. She seems to be able to grow everything else in there.

Unions, no longer satisfied with dictating their pay pkgs has evolved to demanding ownership of the companies they drive into bankruptcy... with taxpayers funding the profitless businesses.. aka, GM.

Gee and I posted the nationalization bit without knowing this petition had been sent.
Actually Hostess should close down change their name and reconstruct in a non union state. There are 18 states who would welcome them.
There are 30 states with GOP governors and any who are still unionized should eliminate them.

Reply 19 - Posted by: OhMy, 11/16/2012 10:13:55 PM     (No. 9019716)

As with the auto bailout this is really a union bailout. Pump enough public money in while screwing the present investors, give the company to the unions and claim victory. A month later announce that the company has paid the treasury back. This lie is sustained by the hack media and Obama it the hero. Michelle changes the twinkies into a health food which nobody eats. Each twinkie costs $100.oo but there is a public subsidy of $99.95 to purchase them. A totally phoney market is created for twinkies to funnel public money into the unions, the media hide this and Obama voters marvel at Obama´s genius for saving bankrupt companies.

Just say NO to the Venezuelization of the U.S.

Screw Communism, with extreme prejudice. Trust nothing they say; even something as innocuous-sounding as "I like Twinkies" can´t be taken at face value.

It could be done just like GM. Take over the company to save the workers´ jobs. But Twinkies aren´t healthy, so change the recipe. Make them multi-grain and fill them with unsweetened tofu. Then order massive amounts for MREs, government agency cafeterias, and school cafeterias—because no one else will buy them.

UnitedHealth, the nation’s largest private insurer, will not participate in California’s Obamacare health exchange, the Los Angeles Times reported Thursday. Health insurance giants Aetna and Cigna will also opt out of Covered California, the state agency charged with implementing Obamacare. All three insurers will still provide health insurance through large employers in the state. Kaiser Permanente, the largest health insurer in California, will work with Covered California, as will Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of California. Together, these two companies already control 87 percent of the state’s individual health insurance market.

"As each day passes, Americans find ourselves with more questions about the IRS targeting of conservative groups and donors - and what the White House and Treasury Department knew and when,” says Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus, who has asked in-house attorney Jonathan Waclawski to file a Freedom of Information Act request with the IRS to get to the bottom of things. The request has been sent, asking for correspondence between IRS employees and officials, dating from Jan. 1, 2010, through Monday. The agency has 20 days to respond. In his request,

House Speaker John A. The links between a nonprofit promoting President Obama’s healthcare law and the White House have created an “air of expectation” that insurers will contribute to the group, according to an insurance industry official. Current and former administration officials have taken on leadership and fundraising roles for Enroll America, a nonprofit aiming to make sure people sign up for new coverage options. As the ties grow deeper, the organization has come to feel like “just an arm of the administration,” said one official who works closely with insurers. It’s well known that whenever jihadis attack and slaughter innocent people — especially Christians — the Obama administration tries to ignore or whitewash. Lesser known, however, is that whenever foriegn governments try to subdue the jihadis, the Obama administration objects and calls for the “human rights” of the terrorists. According to Reuters, Nigerian warplanes struck militant camps in the northeast on Friday [5/17] in a major push against an Islamist insurgency, drawing a sharp warning from the United States to respect human rights and not harm civilians. The dam protecting the IRS scandal began to crack today when Lois Lerner, the IRS official who announced, and apologized for, the improper singling out of conservative-leaning organizations by IRS employees under her command, announced through her criminal defense lawyer that she will not testify as scheduled tomorrow before the House Oversight Committee. Rather, she will assert her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination. This marks an enormous milestone in the IRS investigation. It can now be taken as more or less established that crimes were committed by Obama administration employees. Lerner’s lawyer tried to minimize the significance

When you get right down to it, the political targeting and stalling of tax-exempt applications by the IRS was an effort to defund the Tea Party. Rick Santelli, one of the Tea Party founders and my CNBC colleague, was the first to make this point. I’ve taken it a step further: The IRS was taking the Tea Party out of play for the 2012 election, as it looked to avoid a repeat of 2010 and another Tea Party landslide. There are a lot of numbers out there.

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa said embattled IRS official Lois Lerner waived her Fifth Amendment rights and will be hauled back to appear before his panel again. The California Republican said Lerner’s Fifth Amendment right to avoid self-incrimination was voided when she gave an opening statement this morning denying any wrongdoing and professing pride in her government service. “When I asked her her questions from the very beginning, I did so so she could assert her rights prior to any statement,” Issa told POLITICO. “She chose not to do so — so she waived.”

Former Democratic National committee chairman Howard Dean considers the controversy over Benghazi a “joke” and “silly.” “Benghazi is a laughable joke,” Dean proclaimed twice in a discussion with Republican National Committee communications chairman Sean Spicer last week. “With all due respect, governor, when four Americans die serving this country, that’s not a joke, sir,” Spicer responded. “Oh, stop it,” said Dean. The former Democratic presidential candidate also said that there were “no serious questions being asked about Benghazi” and brushed it off as an effort by Republicans to score political points.
