| ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — An online petition against a planned coyote hunt New Mexico has generated tens of thousands of signatures worldwide, the FBI is investigating a death threat to the gun shop owner who is sponsoring the hunt and one protester has even vowed to dress like a coyote to trick hunters into accidentally killing a human. But none of these episodes will likely stop the owner of Gunhawk Firearms from holding the planned two-day coyote contest this weekend, despite the international attention the idea has garnered. ‘‘I´m not going to back down,’’ said Mark Chavez, 50,

Yeah, that´s it: dress like a coyote and get shot. Well, that would help a little....One less idiot in the world.

Coyotes don´t have a lot of friends, I have never understood that. They do need to be kept to a sensible population but having a hunting contest seems a bit violent.

If I were to shoot a coyote impersonator, I´d want to cripple him so he would have some time to reflect on his own stupidity.

A neighbor of mine recently lost two of his Black Angus calves to coyotes. They will also kill and eat your cat or small dog.
I have never heard of one killing a human but I certainly wouldn´t trust them around a toddler. Plenty of children have been killed by ´pet´ dogs already.
And isn´t that typical of an animal rights activist to call and make a death threat. Real tolerant folks.

Tens of thousands of signatures worldwide. Meaning, a bunch of self-righteous Socialists who´ve never dealt with coyotes feel perfectly justified in demanding a state do as they say. How precious.
As for coyotes, I hate them. They´re like rats only bigger and more dangerous to your pets and little ones. Yes, they will attack a human if it´s a small one -- babes and toddlers. They will stalk your dog even if it´s on a leash attached to your hand. They are a hearty, prolific species that´s more in danger of over-populating than dying out, so why not give hunters something to shoot at.

Went out to walk the dog at dusk and looked a coyote in the eyes at the end of my driveway. Feet did their duty! Neighbor had the same experience. The howling at night is too eerie. Our neighborhood is bereft of cats and some dogs due to these beasts. It isn´t right to have to tote your gun walking the dogs but we do.

Coyotes have gotten out of hand. They are decimating the deer population in some parts of Ohio. No real preditors around here except humans. West Virginia is having the same issue.

If he gets lucky in that costume, a coyote might attack him.
There are so many coyotes now, that they are strolling urban areas. We are not talking about Bambi folks.

Coyotes are very adaptive animals and are difficult to hunt. A bunch of city guys going out on private land at the same time and blowing wounded rabbit calls will probably cause the wily creatures to hold tight in their dens until the contest is over. The protest is just flat-out stoopidity.

Coyote fur also makes dandy lining or trim on heavy-duty parkas...and yes, they attack calves here too, in East Texas

coyotes are wild dogs. They are conniving, clever and do tremendous damage to both livestock and wild game. To find a calf, or a deerling that has been attacked by coyotes is shocking for the kinds of injuries the coyotes inflict. I lived and scouted the New Mexico wilderness for many years. And can honestly say, although coyotes are a part of nature, their numbers must be kept under control if any industrial agriculture or wild game management is to be maintained. nature once kept the coyote under control- until man removed that control. It was wolves.

See if you can get a group of your friends to dress up along with you! The gene pool needs to be reduced anyway and since John Kerry and Al Gore aren´t volunteering, I guess your group would be a good start! Think it as your gift to Mother Nature and your fellow man.

In this country we kill over one million unborn babies every year through abortion. It would be nice if these activist were as concerned over an unborn child as they are over a coyote hunt.

Coyotes are deer killing machines. They also kill calves, sheep, lambs, colts and other farm animals and other game animals. Reducing the predator population is good conservation. I have no problem with it. One dead coyotes = one or more deer or farm livestock will live.

When I lived in NM, IL culled the deer herds in parks. In NM. we didn´t carry guns, but were leary when walking big dogs on the Mesa. The border collies are good with prey animals. But, in our own back yard, we let our cats out (didn´t own small dogs then), we had to sit with them, there were eagles, hawks, and falcons. And coyote could jump privacy fences to get toddlers, small dogs, and cats. Cull them, it´s a good idea.

Morons rule! Yes, the same animal lovers prefer nature kill them via being eaten alive, starving to death, disease or taking a human or two with them by causing a car wreck. See the wisdom at work?

Coyotes are one of the only feral animals that have increased in population with the encroachment of man. In southern Cal, they have been known to snatch children´s lunches out of their hands. They will "call out" a pet dog and attack it in a pack. They need to be controlled and this is a good start. It´s just too local. It should be nationwide.

It’s been more than 40 years since Watergate, but the old story—and its characters—made news once again with the Washington premiere of Robert Redford’s new documentary about the scandal. And Top Line snagged red carpet interviews with the big stars of the night: Robert Redford, Bob Woodward, and Carl Bernstein. Redford’s new documentary All the President’s Men Revisited takes a historical look at the scandal—and the investigative reporting by Woodward and Bernstein—that ultimately led to President Richard Nixon’s resignation. Redford, who says “we need a lot of people like Woodward and Bernstein” today, hopes the documentary

Former Rep. Anthony Weiner, whose career in public life came to an abrupt end when he sent lewd pictures to a college student on Twitter, jumped back into politics on Wednesday by announcing a bid for mayor of New York City. “Look, I’ve made some big mistakes and I know I’ve let a lot of people down,” the Democrat said in a 2-minute video announcing his bid. “But I’ve also learned some tough lessons. I’m running for mayor because I’ve been fighting for the middle class and those struggling to make it for my entire life.

The public got its first look Thursday at Lois Lerner, who has gone from faceless IRS bureaucrat to the face that launched what feels like 1,000 congressional hearings and conspiracy theories. But it was only a brief sighting since she didn´t stay long at a House hearing to further probe her role in how some IRS workers came to target conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status. (Snip)She did make a short statement to declare her innocence, however. Lerner´s motivation was more transparent than much of what the IRS has done in connection with this controversy. She was determined to

When you get right down to it, the political targeting and stalling of tax-exempt applications by the IRS was an effort to defund the Tea Party. Rick Santelli, one of the Tea Party founders and my CNBC colleague, was the first to make this point. I’ve taken it a step further: The IRS was taking the Tea Party out of play for the 2012 election, as it looked to avoid a repeat of 2010 and another Tea Party landslide. There are a lot of numbers out there.

One of two men allegedly being questioned in connection with the Boston Marathon bombings was shot and killed by an FBI agent in Florida on Tuesday, (Snip)A friend of Ibragim Todashev said he and Todashev were being investigated as part of the Boston bombings. He said Todashev, 27, knew bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev because both were MMA fighters. The man claims he and Todashev were interviewed by the FBI for nearly three hours on Tuesday. The friend said he left the interview, and when he came back to the apartment he found that there had been a shooting.

The fact that this bit of information was conveyed to the protesters by a Department of Homeland Security officer who was also in attendance. What was a DHS agent doing at the San Jose Tea Party protest? (snip) they weren´t just spying on us in San Jose and monitoring us in San Francisco, they were watching us throughout the entire state

On “Fox News Sunday” last weekend, White House aide Dan Pfeiffer was asked about President Barack Obama’s whereabouts the night of the Sept. 11 attack in Benghazi. This was the night when we lost our first ambassador in 30 years, and when three other Americans were killed in an attack that lasted all night long at multiple locations within the eastern Libyan city. Since the president is commander in chief, one would think where he was and what he did during such an event would be of obvious public concern.
