Let´s not mince words about this. Kansas State, the No. 1 college-football team in the land, lacks some qualities that most of us have come to Unlike Oregon, which has flashy uniforms and a thoroughly modern offense, or Notre Dame, which has history to burn, or Alabama, which has the best coach money can buy,(snip)"There is a military aspect to the team, in terms of discipline," said Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback, a former student body president at Kansas State. "And in an era of self-promotion, this team believes that the player next to you is more important than your own glory."

Until yhis year many had never heard of Bill Snyder because that´s the way ESPN,ABC,FOX Sports wanted it.
Kansas State is the *conservatives* of the college football world,hated by the media and the good old boys, ie,Oklahoma, Texas, Alabama,NotreDame, etal. They dont like the nobodies crashing their party. Now, they have to deal with us, at least for now.

At one time the Kansas State Wildcat Football Program was ranked last among Division 1-A Programs...Then they hired Bill Snyder!

Thanks for posting. I´m a big Snyder fan. Years ago Kansas State came out here to play in the Fiesta Bowl. One night a woman claimed there was an incident in one of the players rooms. The police filed no charges. Snyder did and suspended the players. I think he actually gave them community service when they returned home. The win against the Okies was big, a win in the title game would be one for the ages.

Don´t go overboard. Snyder remains unknown by many non-college football fans as he has remained there seemingly forever. He is respected and built the program up from nothing. There is dirt in his program like there is in all major college football programs.
DOn´t make this into politics, keep it about football.

#2, don´t lump Oklahoma in that group. There was never hatred for KSU there was only indiffernce. But when Bob Stoops came to OU he went out of his way to praise his former boss, Snyder. Now the challenge is to not be a flash in the pan.

Full disclosure, I am an MU Alumni so by definition the only thing good that ever came out of Kansas was I-70. In the course of my undergraduate tenure I was able to attend football games at all of the Big-8 Universities. I dreaded going to Oklahoma where the point spread was the temperature at game time. Nebraska was always tough and we went there expecting to fight hard and lose.
I went to 2 K-State Games (in Manhattan) as an undergrad along with 2 KU games in Lawrence. K-Staters are good people, who cheered for their team, and host a good game. MU won most of the contest back then, but they were always good games.
KU? Meh! I remember one game where the fans were so shocked that they were beating MU that they pulled the goal post out of the ground with time still left on the clock. The officials had to threaten a forfiet if the fans did not return the goal post so that MU could attempt a P.A.T.
Lawrence is not a friendly place. Give me Aggieville anyday.

Kansas State has been known to recruit players who were non-qualifiers in academics at other conference schools. But in comparison to the KSU basketball program, the football program is relatively clear pf major scandal recently.

Thomas “Mainstream media” are alarmed by reports that billionaires Charles and David Koch are considering the purchase of Tribune Company’s eight daily newspapers, including the Los Angeles Times. When Warren Buffett spent $344 million to purchase 28 newspapers, there were mostly sighs of relief from journalists glad to keep their jobs. However, reaction to reports of the Koch brothers’ interest in buying the Tribune papers was quite different. Charles and David Koch, you see, are conservative libertarians, not liberals. Will the Kochs, gasp, force their conservatism on readers?

TOPEKA — Calling drug addiction a “scourge in Kansas,” Gov. Sam Brownback signed into law Tuesday a bill to test welfare and unemployment recipients suspected of using illegal drugs. “This is a horrific thing that hits so many people,” he said. “What this effort is about is an attempt to get ahead of it and, instead of ignoring the problem, start treating the problem.” The drug testing bill lets the Department for Children and Families require urine tests of any welfare recipient suspected of using illegal drugs. That could be triggered by a person’s demeanor, missed appointments or police records.

The Environmental Protection Agency acknowledged Tuesday that it released personal information on potentially thousands of farmers and ranchers to environmental groups, following concerns from congressional Republicans and agriculture groups that the release could endanger their safety. According to a document obtained by FoxNews.com, the EPA said “some of the personal information that could have been protected … was released." Though the EPA has already sent out the documents, the agency now says it has since redacted sensitive details and asked the environmental groups to “return the information.”

Two months of record-setting applications for permits to carry concealed handguns has put a strain on the state’s ability to handle those requests as quickly as required by law. State law requires the applications be approved or denied within 90 days. “We are processing applications right at the 90-day statutory requirement,” Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt said Monday. For a second consecutive month, the state received a record number of applications. Schmidt’s office reported that 3,573 applications were filed in February. TOPEKA — The Senate approved a bill Thursday requiring drug testing for welfare and unemployment benefit recipients — as well as lawmakers — suspected of drug use. The 31-8 vote, mostly along party lines, advances Senate Bill 149 to the House. Gov. Sam Brownback has been non-committal about his support for the concept of testing welfare recipients. The proposal calls for drug tests whenever state officials have reasonable suspicion that someone receiving or applying for welfare or unemployment benefits is using drugs.

Rep. Tim Huelskamp has been named a “Sentinel” of freedom by a national group scoring the conservatism of members of Congress. TOPEKA — A Kansas House committee has endorsed legislation to restrict political fundraising by public employee unions. The measure would prohibit groups representing teachers and government workers from automatically deducting money from members´ paychecks to finance political activities. Public employees still could contribute to public labor organizations, but would have to submit a payment instead of having the amount deducted straight from a paycheck.

An attorney whose firm represents two Benghazi whistleblowers said Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, lied to the Senate when he said there was never a “stand down” order during the Benghazi attack on Sept. 11, 2012. “What was fascinating is that he explained his lie to them,” Joe DiGenova, an attorney representing one of the whistleblowers, told CNSNews.com. “He actually said they were sent to Tripoli. Charlie Rose last night asked President Obama his new Syria policy. The president first objected to it being called a new policy. "I´m not sure you can characterize this as a new policy. This is consistent with the policy that I´ve had throughout," he said. Obama then explained the goal is regional stability, and especially in Syria. "Really, what we´re trying to do is take sides against extremists of all sorts and in favor of people who are in favor of moderation, tolerance, representative government, and over the long-term, stability and prosperity for the people of Syria," said Obama.
