Congress Receives Confusing Benghazi
Briefing From Administration

Daily Beast, by Eli Lake

On Thursday the director of the CIA, the director of National Intelligence, as well as senior military, State Department, and FBI officials were in Congress all day for two separate hearings before the House and Senate intelligence committees. The prescheduled hearings capped off a week of high-level, classified briefings to eight congressional committees on the details of the government’s response to the attack and when key intelligence and assessments about the attack that night came in.

I saw Republican Establishment Senator Saxby Chambliss in a TV interview yesterday, and my immediate impression was "the fix is in". He was blah-blahing about how everything was just so darn confusing in Benghazi and sorting out what happened is just so doggone hard to do blah blah blah.

Confusing? It´s just a pack of lies, Marxist style from a Marxist regime. Nothing confusing about that. And if Saxby can´t see that, the good people of Georgia ought to kick him to the curb.

Saxby just cleaned it up a bit on Fox.

Said it was clearly a terrorist attack.

But....he´s still a flexible RINO.

FTA = "The drone footage was no clearer. Because the unarmed predator drone was used to scout out locations for the CIA team executing the rescue of the personnel, the overhead footage did not provide consistent footage of the attack, one congressional staff member said." Was this when the two Seals were rescuing from the Consulate or at the end of the 7 hr skirmish when the people were rescued from the annex?

Obama´s little sheep in the CIA and all the other departments of the executive branch are doing exactly as they´ve been instructed to do. Finding a person of honor and conscience with even a miniscule amount of moral courage in this administration will be impossible.

Reply 6 - Posted by: fed-up, 11/16/2012 8:34:04 AM     (No. 9017934)

I heard there was only 30 minutes of video shown in the hearing. There was video for over 8 hours from more than one source. They had cameras at the consulate, a drone, and real time conversations on phone, as well as other communications. Some how I can´t see how 30 min is the end all of this.

Am I the only one who thinks Petraeus will do the right thing and tell the truth? He will be under oath and has nothing more to lose. He is a military man first and foremost and is trained to follow orders from the commander-in-chief regardless of policital party. I think once Romney lost the election, that was it for him. Not going to cover for the One any longer.

The report is that our congress critters saw the ambassador dragged to his death. The appearance of a calm, unaffected, chambliss amazed me.
Remember the ashen faces of the congress when they saw the iraqi prisoners with dog leashes on their necks?
What a difference seeing murderous iraqi´s with dog leashes on and our congress watching an American being slaughtered. Obscene seeing these politicians behave the way they do.

All eyes are on Petraeus now. Will he stand up and remember his oath of office....?

The truth is only a few words away...

As one of the song lyrics from the musical "Chicago" goes, "razzle dazzle ´em."

The highest intellects may not be found in Congress, and therefor it is easy to confuse them. We on the outside have better focus, and may be able to guide them.

Reply 10 - Posted by: LouD, 11/16/2012 8:53:23 AM     (No. 9017981)

I´d like to see Petraeus show the gumption and honor shown by Col. Oliver North. But I´m afraid it won´t happen.

Reply 11 - Posted by: earlybird, 11/16/2012 8:57:21 AM     (No. 9017996)

About the confusing briefing - it appears it was meant - by someone - to be that way:

The hearings revolved around a multimedia presentation prepared by the National Counter Terrorism Center (NCTC) that included photos and video collated from overhead drone footage of Libya, as well as closed-circuit camera film from the diplomatic mission and the CIA base in Benghazi.

The video that was shown, according to two U.S. officials, was confusing.

What and/or who is the "National Counter Terrorism Center"??

A highly (and selectively) edited video was the primary focus of the congressional review? Please.

I agree with McCain, Graham and Ayotte. A select committee. Some real united focus on what happened, and no pre-digested stuff like this video.

They need to be analyzing testimony and raw data.

Liars covering for the Liar in Chief...how about a contempt of congress charge and some serious jail time?

Meant to highlight this:

The overall presentation, prepared by NCTC, was more than a month in the making, according to administration officials.

I would not want any "presentation" prepared by anybody in the Obama administration. The video that took so long to prepare was what was confusing, according to Lake´s article. That was undoubtedly its goal.

everyone seems to be missing the point.
First, Susan Rice should not have been the face of the administration on all those sunday shows. clapper, or hillary should have been on the shows.
And it would have been perfectly appropriate for the administration to say, ´we are not sure what really took place at Benghazi. We know that an obscure internet video seems to have stirred up protesters in Cairo, but we are not sure if this was the case in Benghazi.
We are investigating, and as soon as we figure out what happened we will tell the American people.´
Instead, the dimwitted Susan Rice, in her trenchant speaking style, blamed the video. That wasinept and dishonest.

Rep. Peter King just gave a short press briefing at the conclusion of the hearing. Seems nothing much came out of it.. Petraeus NOT under oath, and still says doesnt know how the "story" got changed (even tho his was also)or who gave Rice the talking points. Couldnt get into why no help given... that is classified. Still confused.

He didnt seem satisfied that Petraeus gave intial statement differently from what he says he actually believed.

10, what position is it that you think Petraeus wants to keep? He is no longer CIA Director.

From where I´m sitting, he has nothing to lose if he cuts The Won off at the knees.

Standard Clinton MO. Confuse the heck out of everyone, put out as many stories as are possible, and then just call it a giant snafu.
Although this tactic proves incompetence, (JonnieMac is right on this one), these disgusting bottom feeders know the media will cover for them, so they have no worries. In the end, I expect the media will tell us that the whole tragic event was an intelligence mission that went horribly wrong, got exposed, and can´t be disclosed bc of national security.

If Gen. Petraeus does do the honorable thing by telling the truth there is still little hope that anyone in the halls of Congress will do anything to hold the Fraud-in-Chief accountable.

Obama will continue to be the lying son of the Father of Lies and will be left in place to dismantle America, "brick by brick." Obama has no loyalty to the U.S.A. because he is not one of us.

The story still has legs. Long legs. Good old Obama--just when he needs to work with republicans to avoid stepping off the fiscal cliff, he is able to lie his way into another controversy.

Reply 22 - Posted by: Lawsy0, 11/16/2012 10:12:28 AM     (No. 9018219)

The confusing part is the gummint trying to keep all the lies straight. Who told who what and when. Obama lied and people died.

I´d like to think there´s a John Wayne type out there who´d stroll in, tell the blistering truth, and then take what comes...but I´m not holding my breath. Petraeus may have lost his job and been branded, but we´ll see if he has the backbone and character to deal with being ostracized completely in the Hollywood-like social scene of DC....if he brings down The Won, he´ll have to move to some small town in the midwest and go into a witness protection program. Very few are the sort of person to want to be in such a limelight and then at the same time have that kind of strength of character and integrity to walk away.....

Reply 24 - Posted by: zek, 11/16/2012 10:24:01 AM     (No. 9018255)

If Petraeus went to the hill and didn´t tell the truth the first time to save himself, I doubt he will do anything different for the sake of the country. He is in panic, spin mode and for his reputation only. He has already proven he isn´t who everyone thought.

Obama wins again.

You can always count on them.

Saxby is an Obamunist collaborator. Looked like he wanted to get his bit on Fox done, then get his arse over to Sally Quinn´s for some much-needed cocktails.

Re #17, those of us who have been following this tragedy since Day One know that Eli Lake has been the tireless investigator who has brought us the most detailed and comprehensive reports on what happened at Benghazi.

Those who are in the hearings are coming out and talking. Imagine he is as near the hearing room door as he can be. He is a gem.

When you get right down to it, the political targeting and stalling of tax-exempt applications by the IRS was an effort to defund the Tea Party. The president hasn’t attempted to distance himself from the Associated Press snooping campaign. To the contrary, he offered “no apologies.” To be blunt, he approves the most invasive breach of the First Amendment against any news organization in the history of the republic. No president has tried this and for good reason. We now have yet another media abuse story, in a way much more severe. The Post breaks the story that the Obama administration indulged in excruciatingly invasive spying on James Rosen of Fox News and, in an unprecedented move, asserted that his newsgathering is criminal.

Levin said, “I don’t believe for two seconds that Obama wasn’t aware of this.”

On “Fox News Sunday” last weekend, White House aide Dan Pfeiffer was asked about President Barack Obama’s whereabouts the night of the Sept. 11 attack in Benghazi. This was the night when we lost our first ambassador in 30 years, and when three other Americans were killed in an attack that lasted all night long at multiple locations within the eastern Libyan city. Since the president is commander in chief, one would think where he was and what he did during such an event would be of obvious public concern.
