Rahm Cracks Down on
Chicago Vending Machines

Time for Chicago´s vending machines to chip up or chip out. Mayor Rahm Emanuel said Wednesday he´s cracking down on the caloric content of vending machines in city buildings and plans to replace them all with healthy vending by next year. A proposed ordinance, to be introduced this week, will lay out plans for the new machines and detail guidelines on fat, sugar and calorie content starting in January 2013. “These new vending machines will make it easier than ever before for city employees and the public to make healthy lifestyle decisions,” Emanuel said.

Comments:
The Democrats always have their priorities straight. This will really help in curbing the soaring murder rate in Chicago. s/o

Oh great. Now when I´ve worked through lunch and it´s gotten late into the evening still without food, I will only have low caloric junk to buy from the vending machine. You´ll find me passed out at my office desk. But of course unconsciousness is safer than the long term consequences of eating a bag of greasy salty chips.

So the city employees are smart enough to keep electing Democrats but too stupid to know what food is good for them. Welcome to liberal Utopia.

Make them eat organic bran, sprouts and ice water fairy queen. Then ration toilet paper, just one square.

Too bad they couldn´t pass the bullet tax. Maybe they could do a tax on funerals instead.

Chicago city employees are going to discover the joys of free market capitalism. By the end of the first month, the vending machines will sit idle and a junk food marketplace will be busily operating out of desk drawers and filing cabinets throughout city buildings.

I guess with the murder rate already 38% higher in Chicago then 2011, Rahm Emmanuel is tackling the real tough issues like those dangerous vending machines. I´m sure voters in Chicago feel very safe knowing those vicious vending machines are being dealt with.

Rahm can´t let Bloomberg beat him as the biggest mayoral nanny in the nation, though Rahm does have some catching up to do.

Why does he want to put the little guys out of business? Does he have any idea how the vending machine business works or how small the profit margins are? No company can make a profit with a vending machine in Chicago if they´re restricted to little more than suger-free gum and bottled water.

every Monday morning Chicago city workers will bring in a bag of select junk food. cheaper than buying in a vending machine. problem solved, except for the vending company. their machines will just gather dust.

however, Twinkies, Ho-Ho´s and Snowballs will be available on the black market only due to plant closures. Little Debbie to profit. parent company is McKee Foods out of TN. I´d bet a buck they´re not a union shop...

If only the thugs got their guns out of a vending machine and contained calories.

Who cares if alderman Jackson lives in DC ?

"Thank God" an exhausted elderly woman who survived the devastating tornadoes in Oklahoma exclaimed as her beloved dog emerged from the rubble of her house - live on camera. CBS News was interviewing Barbara Garcia shortly after a massive tornado demolished her house with her and her dog inside. She was in the middle of telling reporter Anna Werner about how she survived the storm, but she couldn´t find her dog - until he miraculously appeared in the debris right behind her. "Well I thought God just answered one prayer: let me be ok.

The Democratic Party´s edge over the GOP on who the public trusts more on ethics and corruption issues has flipped in the wake of the IRS and Benghazi scandals, according to Rasmussen Reports. Not only do voters trust Republicans more now, they have their highest level of confidence in the GOP and the lowest level in Democrats in seven months. While the Democrats had an eight-point "trust advantage" over Republicans a month ago, Rasmussen´s latest poll said that edge has disappeared and now the GOP has a two-point advantage. Treasury Secretary Jack Lew told the Senate Banking Committee Tuesday the IRS has to be "beyond politics," and he warned that the "cure could be worse than the disease" if that line is crossed in the attempt to fix the agency´s problems. "The thing I will not do -- I will not cross that line into the administration of the tax system, because the cure could be worse than the disease. We need to make sure there´s no political involvement in the administration of the tax system," Lew said. And while the treasury secretary is responsible for

Danger. Danger. Al Qaeda’s Syrian wing also known as “rebels” bent on overthrowing Syria’s President Bashar al-Assad (mirroring the Saudi, the Obama administration and Republican Senator John McCain’s position), have taken over the oilfields that once belonged to Assad. If that wasn’t bad enough it gets worse. We are a hair trigger away from World War III. Reportedly Assad is preparing missile strikes against Tel Aviv if Syria is attacked again. Meanwhile, back in Obama’s America, don’t call Libya’s weapon recovery program “buyback” that then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton funded using $40 million of your tax dollars

The current scene doesn´t look so great. We´ve got the Benghazi scandal, which Bob Woodward has compared to Watergate, we´ve got the IRS scandal, where Democratic members of Congress are saying the IRS director lied, we´ve got the FBI AP-snooping scandal, we´ve got the HHS "private donation" shakedown scandal, and, of course, there´s the still-unfolding Pigford scandal that has funneled billions to grifters. It seems like everything is in tatters. And, in a way, it is. But serious as these problems are, they´re all short-term things. So while at the moment a lot of our political leaders

Former Democratic National committee chairman Howard Dean considers the controversy over Benghazi a “joke” and “silly.” “Benghazi is a laughable joke,” Dean proclaimed twice in a discussion with Republican National Committee communications chairman Sean Spicer last week. “With all due respect, governor, when four Americans die serving this country, that’s not a joke, sir,” Spicer responded. “Oh, stop it,” said Dean. The former Democratic presidential candidate also said that there were “no serious questions being asked about Benghazi” and brushed it off as an effort by Republicans to score political points.

IRS Scandal: Outgoing Chief

In Tuesday´s Senate hearings into the ever-widening IRS scandal, outgoing IRS chief, Steve Miller, acknowledged that the planted question that broke the story last week was his idea. The "planted question" refers to the way in which the IRS chose to release the findings of the Inspector General´s report a week ago Friday. It was an unusual way to deliver bad news, even in a town known for its selective leaks, Friday-night news dumps and wag-the-dog distractions. The Internal Revenue Service, apparently determined to get out ahead of an inspector general report critical of its handling of tax exemptions

WASHINGTON – The Internal Revenue Serviced scandal today spread further within the White House and closer to President Obama. White House spokesman Jay Carney today disclosed that Obama’s chief of staff, Dennis McDonough, and other top White House officials had advance warning that the IRS was targeting conservative groups. But he insisted McDonough and the other White House officials purposely kept Obama out of the loop.McDonough “rightly chose not to take action” to inform Obama, Carney told reporters at the daily White House briefing.

The Washington Post on Monday reported that Obama’s Department of Justice was investigating journalists before they started wiretapping the Associated Press – for one, Fox News correspondent James Rosen in 2010. Their headline wasn´t "Obama Team Also Spied on Fox News." Fox wasn´t in the headline, on A-1 or on A-12, where the story continued. Newly obtained court documents “reveal how deeply investigators explored the private communications of a working journalist — and raise the question of how often journalists have been investigated as closely as Rosen was in 2010.” Reporter Ann Marimow began:

The wheels came off the Obama administration yesterday. We learned of a startling assault on freedom of the press by the Department of Justice, following the revelation last week of the unprecedented information-gathering foray by that department against The Associated Press. Then, a few minutes later, the Justice Department’s inspector general released a report declaring that the US attorney in Arizona used the leak of a confidential memo to try to discredit a whistleblower in the notorious “gun-walking” scandal known as Fast and Furious (which got two federal agents killed). The leak was called “egregious.”

A senior adviser to President Obama mounted a combative defense of the administration on Sunday, saying the controversies enveloping the White House were the result of Republican lawmakers’ trying to “drag Washington into a swamp of partisan fishing expeditions, trumped-up hearings and false allegations.”The remarks came from Dan Pfeiffer, a member of the president’s inner circle, as he appeared on all five major Sunday morning talk shows in an effort to move the administration past what commentators have described as a “hell week” of controversy and missteps.

WASHINGTON – A top IRS official in the division that reviews nonprofit groups will invoke the Fifth Amendment and refuse to answer questions before a House committee investigating the agency’s improper screening of conservative nonprofit groups. Lois Lerner, the head of the exempt organizations division of the IRS, won’t answer questions about what she knew about the improper screening – or why she didn’t reveal it to Congress, according to a letter from her defense lawyer, William W. Taylor 3rd. Lerner was scheduled to appear before the House Oversight committee Wednesday.

Stuart Varney said this morning on "Varney & Co." that one of his producers was given a questionnaire with some surprisingly intrusive questions on it when he switched doctors. One of the questions was whether he/she was concerned about unsecured weapons in the home. Another asked whether he/she was "in a relationship in which you have been physically hurt or are you afraid of your partner?" Judge Andrew Napolitano explained that the question about guns comes out of a post-Sandy Hook executive order by President Obama, but it will be required under Obamacare. Varney expressed amazement
