| The FBI’s handling of the investigation that forced CIA Director David H. Petraeus to resign came under new scrutiny Wednesday as FBI Director Robert S. Mueller faced questions on Capitol Hill and President Obama alluded to lingering questions about the course of the inquiry. In his first public comments on the controversy, Obama said he has seen no evidence that the scandal exposed classified information that might harm national security. But he stopped short of approving the FBI’s handling of the inquiries into the personal e-mail communications of Petraeus and

A couple of observations.
1) To point out after he fact that no information impacting national security was revealed does not make the situation just a harmless personal matter. The very fact that this was the Director of the CIA automatically makes it a national security matter. Such liaisons should not be acceptable or viewed as harmless.
2) Those who believe that Petraeus is now "free" to tell the whole truth are mistaken. And they missed a very telling clue why from the initial revelations. Namely, it was reported that when Petraeus was first confronted about this, he was told there would be "no criminal charges." Really? Nobody is in a position to guarantee that. What was really being done was to drop an implied threat...play ball with us and there won´t be criminal charges. That´s a huge thing to plant in his head right off the bat. And you can bet it will be on his mind when he testifies.

Too many cases of "the protocols made me do it."
This "crazy-ruddered" FBI makes me long for J. Edgar Hoover.

Since we are now exposing security leaks, isn´t it time to find out about Obama´s rumored gay sex secrets in Chicago and where ever Reggie Love is? Have you googled obama + man country? How about the story of the rape before murder of Chris Stephens? This disaster is only starting to roll out. Obama could be impeached if this treachery is proven.

Sadly this scandal of epic proportions will burn itself out and I don´t believe any criminal action will be taken by anyone. The Feds have been getting away with everything, including murder, for years. Our government is corrupt at all levels.

Riddle me this -- why was a lebanese woman, the kelly woman, talking to General Allen while he was in the war theater.....?
During WWII -- alllllll communication with military was censored....because of security....
AND -- the obama boys and the iranian woman jarrettttt -- want to make john kerry -- one of the most disliked by the military people -- secretary of defense? I guess another "revenge" moment for the zero president....along with susan priceless secretary of state?
Is this another "revenge" move for the pathetic president who is into self/loathing. Looks like Americans will suffer under his black hand for the crimes his mother and her stud and his left/leaning grandparents -- who raised a woman, his mother, with no moral compass -- gave to US via faulty electronic voting machines manaufactured in china.
AND -- WE are surprised????

One would think that with so much attention being shown toward a little extra sex between two straight individuals with concern toward a possible scandal hurting national security, it follows that the same attention should be given toward Hussein Obama , Reggie Love, Wright, Rahm (dead fish) Emanuel, and all of the other people participating in the homosexual activities if their major concern is national security.

Scrutinize ? I guess they are still scrutinizing Fast and Furious too. No one will stand up for those killed in either blantant cover up . obama is free to destroy any of our very lives if he so chooses and No One will stop him. To see such a great nation destroyed by such an empty suit who´s only true emotion seems to be hatred of hard working Americans is such a tragedy. He is ´treading´ on all of us who believe in honor and America´s greatness!

here´s what puzzles me - either the Broadwell affair affected national security, in which case the President should have been told, or else it didn´t, in which case he needn´t have been fired. Best answer I can produce: It didn´t affect national security, so they didn´t tell the President. Real issue was simplythat they didn´t like the way he talked about Benghazi, so telling the president could indeed wait. And Petraeus simply could not believe this would be done. Asked for mtg with President - learned that, indeed, it would be done.

President Obama delivered an address today at the National Defense University called “The Future of our Fight Against Terrorism.” Actually, part of the speech was about the past, including much self-congratulation and some shots at President Bush. This part of the speech is revisionist rubbish. As Max Boot explains: Obama said, for example, that after he came into office, “we unequivocally banned torture, affirmed our commitment to civilian courts, worked to align our policies with the rule of law, and expanded our consultations with Congress.” Umm, actually all of that happened in Bush’s second term.

In seventy lugubrious paragraphs, President Obama today asked America whether as commander-in-chief he should bomb terrorists. He concluded that sometimes he should, and sometimes he shouldn’t. He couldn’t quite make up his mind. Therefore, he would appoint a panel to advise him. Mr. Obama has already authorized more than 200 such drone bombings. His staff has bragged that before ordering a bombing, he personally reviews who lives and who dies. Imagine if Prime Minister Churchill or President Truman had appeared on television to announce an advisory panel before bombing our enemy. We would be appalled

MOUNT VERNON, Wash. -- The Interstate 5 bridge over the Skagit River collapsed Thursday evening, injuring an unknown number of people. Both the northbound and southbound portions of the bridge dropped into the river sometime before 7 p.m., according to Washington State Patrol trooper Mark Francis. Francis said several cars were on the bridge when it collapsed, and some are now in the water. Bart Treece with the Washington State Department of Transportation was unsure when the bridge was last inspected. "All of our bridges in the area are pretty old," he said.

Fox News chief Roger Ailes has sent a memo to his subordinates at the leading cable news network. He sent this memo to his staff today in connection with the federal investigation into an alleged leak to Fox News reporter James Rosen, a story that the Washington Post’s Ann E. Marimow broke earlier this week. The memo’s a masterpiece, too. For all those who wonder what it is about Ailes that endears his people to him — and that makes him such a good interviewee for any media reporter lucky enough to get an audience

Anthony Weiner’s New York mayoral candidacy was only made more improbable today after he revealed that he visited a Houston psychiatric facility following his resignation from Congress in 2011. Haunted by scandal surrounding his sexually explicit online communications with women, the Democratic former congressman sought treatment for his compulsive behavior from mental health professionals at the Gabbard Center. According to its website, the facility provides “3-day outpatient psychiatric evaluation,” particularly to “professionals who are in personal or professional crises.” While Weiner did not disclose

LONDON — British police late Thursday arrested a man and a woman in connection with the butchering of a British soldier on a London street, as anti-Muslim protests sprang up across the country. The arrests fueled speculation that the gruesome knife attack Wednesday — the first successful terrorist act in Britain since 2005 — was part of a wider plot, and prompted questions about the prevalence of Islamic extremism in the country and how to combat it. British officials moved quickly to increase security in London and other major cities Thursday as police raided

Three days of hearings have shown that IRS scrutiny of conservative organizations extended beyond a few rogue employees in Cincinnati, that the agency staged its announcement of the bad news to try to limit the damage, and that the White House knew more, and knew it earlier, than it first admitted. Republicans argue that they also uncovered evidence that the auditor’s report could have been completed months ago — even before the November elections. They also said an internal IRS investigation confirmed the untoward behavior as early as July 2012.

The public got its first look Thursday at Lois Lerner, who has gone from faceless IRS bureaucrat to the face that launched what feels like 1,000 congressional hearings and conspiracy theories. But it was only a brief sighting since she didn´t stay long at a House hearing to further probe her role in how some IRS workers came to target conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status. (Snip)She did make a short statement to declare her innocence, however. Lerner´s motivation was more transparent than much of what the IRS has done in connection with this controversy. She was determined to

When you get right down to it, the political targeting and stalling of tax-exempt applications by the IRS was an effort to defund the Tea Party. Rick Santelli, one of the Tea Party founders and my CNBC colleague, was the first to make this point. I’ve taken it a step further: The IRS was taking the Tea Party out of play for the 2012 election, as it looked to avoid a repeat of 2010 and another Tea Party landslide. There are a lot of numbers out there.

What´s so interesting about 60 tea partiers protesting the IRS in San Jose, California on Tuesday, May 21st? The fact that this bit of information was conveyed to the protesters by a Department of Homeland Security officer who was also in attendance. What was a DHS agent doing at the San Jose Tea Party protest? (snip) they weren´t just spying on us in San Jose and monitoring us in San Francisco, they were watching us throughout the entire state

On “Fox News Sunday” last weekend, White House aide Dan Pfeiffer was asked about President Barack Obama’s whereabouts the night of the Sept. 11 attack in Benghazi. This was the night when we lost our first ambassador in 30 years, and when three other Americans were killed in an attack that lasted all night long at multiple locations within the eastern Libyan city. Since the president is commander in chief, one would think where he was and what he did during such an event would be of obvious public concern.

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa said embattled IRS official Lois Lerner waived her Fifth Amendment rights and will be hauled back to appear before his panel again. The California Republican said Lerner’s Fifth Amendment right to avoid self-incrimination was voided when she gave an opening statement this morning denying any wrongdoing and professing pride in her government service. “When I asked her her questions from the very beginning, I did so so she could assert her rights prior to any statement,” Issa told POLITICO. “She chose not to do so — so she waived.”

Is the worm turning against Barack Obama? After four-plus years of being given the benefit of the doubt by the bulk of the US media, the President now suddenly feels more vulnerable. Today both the New York Times and the Washington Post have run prominent and angry editorials and columns slamming the administration for its attempt to criminalise a Fox News reporter James Rosen for working a State Department source to obtain a story. The "Rosen Affair"--as it is now known--is poisoning the well in Washington at an alarming rate for Mr Obama, with an indignant White House press corps
