| Former Seattle Seahawks player Jerramy Stevens was arrested Monday on suspicion of assaulting his fiancée, U.S. women´s soccer team goalkeeper Hope Solo, according to police and court records. He was released Tuesday when a judge reportedly said there was no evidence connecting Stevens to any assault. Kirkland Police Lt. Mike Murray said the case is still under investigation and that charges could be brought later if prosecutors and police find other evidence. Stevens, 33, and the 31-year-old Solo applied for a marriage license Thursday, according to King County records.

She was conceived in prison. Her dad was an ex-con and her childhood was pretty awful because of it. She channeled her anger into the game. This is too bad. It´s so great that she had broken out of the pattern, I hope her parents´ chickens don´t come home to roost on a personal level.

If she got her brother Han to kick Jerramy´s (??) soccer balls the problem would be solved.

I really admire this girl, particularly given her upbringing as #1 points out. Sadly, it can sometimes be hard to break completely free from that stratum of lifestyle. Sure, she can sometimes be a bit rough around the edges but she´s earned every bit of what she has. And more talent in her quadriceps than the entire Kardashian family. I´m still bitter over that Brazil match in which Scurry allowed 4 goals after Hope had shut them out in the previous meeting.

Prayers for Hope... and courage in this relationship... Too bad she went through with marriage... too many "red flags"...
IMHO, however, she is better off single...

Her father was in prison for embezzlement. A white collar crime, not a crime of violence. She was conceived during a conjugal visit.
Her fiance is a black football player with a record of lawbreaking that goes back to school days.
He sounds like "what you see is what you get".

The vice provost of California State University, Northridge, retires today. Ordinarily that would be unworthy of a national newspaper´s notice, but Cynthia Rawitch was a formative figure in your humble columnist´s professional and intellectual development. (snip) Her time as publisher was busy and marked with a lawsuit regarding free speech. Former student James Taranto, now editor of OpinionJournal.com and a member of The Wall Street Journal editorial board, sued for being suspended after he printed a cartoon on the paper´s opinion page.

DENVER (AP) — Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper indefinitely delayed the execution of convicted killer Nathan Dunlap on Wednesday and said he was unlikely to allow it as long as he is governor. (snip) On the night of Dec. 14, 1993, he hid in a bathroom until the restaurant closed, then shot and killed Crowell; Ben Grant, 17; Colleen O´Connor, 17; and Margaret Kohlberg, a 50-year-old mother who was on her first day on the job. Each was shot in the head. A co-worker Bobby Stephens, then 20, was also shot in the head, but he survived and testified against Dunlap.

VIRGINIA WATER, England- Sergio Garcia apologized to Tiger Woods for saying he would have ´´fried chicken´´ at dinner with his rival, a comment that Woods described as hurtful and inappropriate. ´´I want to send an unreserved apology. I did not want to offend anyone,´´ Garcia said Wednesday. ´´My answer was totally stupid and out of place.´´ Garcia was at a European Tour awards dinner Tuesday night when he was jokingly asked if he would have Woods over for dinner during the U.S. Open. The two players had been verbally sparring since The Players Championship nearly two weeks ago.

The Internal Revenue Service’s targeting of conservative groups is outrageous. Those who did this should be fired immediately. That’s obvious. It continues a slovenly week for Barack Obama. The President has been very proud of the absence of scandal in his administration, and rightly so. The inability of his opponents to find any significant corruption in the historic $800 billion stimulus package was a real achievement, given the speed of the payout. None of his top aides have been caught up in taking bribes while in office

Former Gov. Mark Sanford completed the trail to political redemption tonight with a win over Democrat Elizabeth Colbert Busch to reclaim his old seat in Congress. With 71 percent of the returns in, Sanford led Colbert Busch 54 percent to 46 percent, according to Politico.com. Sanford could be sworn in as soon as next week to the 1st District seat he held for three terms. It’s a remarkable comeback for a man many pundits had written off after his highly publicized affair with an Argentinian mistress made him the source of national ridicule in 2009. Democrats jumped at the chance to pick up

Henry Gribbohm says he lost his life savings, $2,600, on a carnival game and all he has to show for it is a stuffed banana with dreadlocks. “You’re expecting the kids to win a few things, let the kids have a good time,” said Gribbohm. “It just didn’t turn out that way.” Gribbohm says he attended a Manchester carnival run by New Hampshire-based Fiesta Shows and wanted to win an Xbox Kinect at a game called Tubs of Fun where contestants toss balls into a tub.

Chris Broussard usually offers expertise on fast breaks and zone defense, but on Monday he drove right into America´s culture wars by calling homosexuality "an open rebellion to God" and implying that gay people can´t be Christians. Speaking on ESPN´s "Outside the Lines," the basketball analyst and former New York Times writer was discussing NBA player Jason Collins, who in a landmark move just became the first active player in one of the major pro sports to come out as gay. Collins revealed his sexual orientation in a first-person Sports Illustrated story.

Washington rumor has it that Obama wants to be U.N. Secretary General. There are several reasons that make that likely, and if it´s true, it throws new light on a lot of Obama´s oddities -- including his Royalty Bows, his Apology Tours, his Muslim Sellout, and the Benghazi Cover-Up. But first -- why would Obama be planning to become the chief of the U.N. before he has even finished his second term?

On Wednesday, Drummer Lee Rigby of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, a man who had served Queen and country honorably in the hell of Helmand Province in Afghanistan, emerged from his barracks on Wellington Street, named after the Duke thereof, in southeast London. Minutes later, he was hacked to death in broad daylight and in full view of onlookers by two men with machetes who crowed "Allahu Akbar!" as they dumped his carcass in the middle of the street like so much roadkill. As grotesque as this act of savagery was, the aftermath was even more unsettling

MARK LEVIN: So why didn´t Chairman Issa hold an investigative hearing a year ago? Why didn´t Chairman Camp, all Republicans, hold an investigative hearing a year ago, and all the other tripping over themselves right now? I´ll tell you why. Because the establishment Republicans, the RINO Republicans, despise the Tea Party. They despise the conservative movement. We exist to be managed, to be shuttled to the polling place, to vote for their candidates. The Karl Roves of the world, and all the rest of them. They fight us in the primaries, they fight us at the grassroots.

WASHINGTON —In a dramatic departure from existing White House procedures, President Obama requested today that his staff start cc’ing him on stuff. “Look, I know a lot of you think I’m really busy and you don’t want to bother me,” the President reportedly told his staff in an Oval Office meeting. “But cc me anyway. It’s good for me to keep up on what’s going on around here.” “It’s not good when I turn on the news and they’re talking about something at the White House and I’m like, whoa, when did that happen?”

The Boy Scouts of America (BSA) have reversed their longstanding membership guidelines to allow homosexuals to join the organization. In an email to CNSNews.com, the BSA public affairs office said the vote on the resolution to “remove the restriction denying membership to youth on the basis of sexual orientation alone” was passed with 61.44 percent in favor and 38.56 percent opposed. “For 103 years, the Boy Scouts of America has been a part of the fabric of this nation, with a focus on working together to deliver the nation’s foremost youth program of character development and values-based leadership training,”

Abuse Of Power: Any scandal investigation that expects a "Eureka!" moment, a White House e-mail, or Oval Office smoking gun will be misguided. In fact, the dots are already connected directly to the president. Barack Obama is not foolish enough to have a tape recording system hidden in his desk. And his administration staff are not careless enough to send one another incriminating e-mails. If the president was behind the IRS unlawfully harassing conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status, we can be sure the communications were all sotto voce and in persona, like any good Chicago political operator.

A Washington state Democrat is accusing Republicans of “throwing American infrastructure … under the bus” after a bridge collapse there this week. The portion of Interstate 5 in Washington that runs over the Skagit River collapsed on Thursday after a truck hit an overhead support structure, but Rep. Jim McDermott (D-Wash.) cited the incident in an interview as proof Republicans were blocking infrastructure investment to hurt President Obama politically. “Well, they have clearly spent the whole last five years trying to tear the president down, but they have done it by throwing the American infrastructure and
