I heard on the radio today that company bosses are holding off on hiring until they get some clarity from DC. Good luck with that.
Obama will do anything to get his tax increases.

Down 700 points in one week. It´s starting to look eerily similar to a slow motion train wreck. The market´s overpriced and the profit outlook is grim.

Unless, of course, it´s YOUR blood in the streets.

Another miracle. Like the previous miracles.

This was predictable. The second Obama administration will be bad, very bad for business. No one will put money at risk unless they have insider information. Big business likes big government because of lobbying, cronyism, bribery, regulatory capture and all of the other advantages accruing from a mammoth bureaucracy that is fundamentally dim-witted(otherwise they would be lobbyists or working in private business) and -shall we say- easily influenced in various ways. Not so big business suffers and in some cases goes out of business, which is not bad for really big business. The bigger the business and the banks, the better they get along with -collude and conspire also work here- with big government.
It is all based upon an erroneous understanding of the way things work, so the happy days cannot last for long. But by far the biggest challenge facing Obama in his second term will be the war(s) his naive foreign policy has made inevitable. Like grandiose Democrat social reformers before him, he will soon have his hands full with international problems, including a serious escalation of violence and quite possibly a full scale war. He has given green light after green light to aggressors, who now believe they have nothing to fear and nothing to lose by ramping up their attacks. This, of course, is a mistake. But it is going to cost a lot of lives before it is done.

The huge post-election stock market drop is particularly worrisome since it´s been occurring despite the fact that 26 of the 30 Dow stocks pay a higher dividend than the 1.58% return on 10-year U.S. Treasury bonds.
In fact, fourteen of the Dow stocks pay at least DOUBLE the rate of U.S. Treasuries. Even AT&T´s stock, paying a 5.33% dividend, is being dumped as if it´s become radioactive. And AT&T and the other falling Dow components did not just elect socialist CEOs and are not getting ready to go over cliffs. Something is seriously wrong.

Must be concerns about Greek debt again that drove the market down. Has to be. Can´t be the crushing American debt. Nor worries about obamacare or projected increase in capital gains and other taxes. Ya, Greek debt sounds like a good narrative for zippy. Let´s go with that.

J. Russell George paused for just a moment before he took his seat at the witness table. He wanted to take it all in. The Treasury inspector general whose audit of the IRS had set off a national firestorm had been in this very room before—three decades earlier. That was back when George was a precocious teenager who had worked his way onto the staff of then-Sen. Bob Dole, the powerful Republican chairman of the vaunted Finance Committee. Then, he’d sorted mail and made carbon copies. Now, he was about to testify before the same panel, to present the findings

The head of the Internal Revenue Service’s tax-exempt organizations office, faced with allegations of improper targeting of conservative groups, declared Wednesday that she has done nothing wrong but declined to answer questions, invoking her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination. Lois G. Lerner told the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform in an opening statement that members of the panel have already accused her of providing false information to Congress. “I have not done anything wrong,” she said. “I have not broken any laws. I have not violated any IRS regulations. And I have not provided false information

The US Attorney for the District of Columbia, Ronald C. Machen - the man responsible for the aggressive surveillance and phone record scrutiny at Fox News - is also a big donor to the Obama Campaigns. At the time of his appointment, the Washington Post wrote a profile on Machen including this tidbit: Over the years, he has donated $4,350 to Obama´s campaigns. He gave $250 to Obama´s U.S. Senate campaign in 2003, a year before Obama, then an Illinois state senator, emerged on the nation´s political radar, according to campaign finance records.

On May 14, the House Ways and Means Committee demanded the IRS turn over documents and answer questions related to the targeting of conservative groups. The letter was signed by the Chairman David Camp and ranking member Sander Levin of the Committee. The deadline for compliance was May 21. According to House Ways and Means Spokeswoman Sarah Swinehart, "The Committee has not received a response to the Camp-Levin letter." "Chairman Camp expects the IRS to comply and provide full and complete responses to the letter since many of these questions were asked, but went unanswered, in Friday’s hearing,"

Federal investigators apparently accessed records of calls to and from a phone number at Fox News Channel in their leak investigation of a former State Department contractor, according to a court document. News of the government´s search of Fox News phone records comes after controversy broke out last week over a separate leak investigation in which prosecutors seized the call details of roughly 20 phone numbers of reporters and editors at the Associated Press. Former government contractor Stephen Kim has been charged in federal court with leaking an intelligence report about North Korea in 2009

WASHINGTON – The Internal Revenue Serviced scandal today spread further within the White House and closer to President Obama. White House spokesman Jay Carney today disclosed that Obama’s chief of staff, Dennis McDonough, and other top White House officials had advance warning that the IRS was targeting conservative groups. But he insisted McDonough and the other White House officials purposely kept Obama out of the loop.McDonough “rightly chose not to take action” to inform Obama, Carney told reporters at the daily White House briefing.

The wheels came off the Obama administration yesterday. We learned of a startling assault on freedom of the press by the Department of Justice, following the revelation last week of the unprecedented information-gathering foray by that department against The Associated Press. Then, a few minutes later, the Justice Department’s inspector general released a report declaring that the US attorney in Arizona used the leak of a confidential memo to try to discredit a whistleblower in the notorious “gun-walking” scandal known as Fast and Furious (which got two federal agents killed). The leak was called “egregious.”

WASHINGTON – A top IRS official in the division that reviews nonprofit groups will invoke the Fifth Amendment and refuse to answer questions before a House committee investigating the agency’s improper screening of conservative nonprofit groups. Lois Lerner, the head of the exempt organizations division of the IRS, won’t answer questions about what she knew about the improper screening – or why she didn’t reveal it to Congress, according to a letter from her defense lawyer, William W. Taylor 3rd. Lerner was scheduled to appear before the House Oversight committee Wednesday.

Former Rep. I’m running for mayor because I’ve been fighting for the middle class and those struggling to make it for my entire life.

Former Democratic National committee chairman Howard Dean considers the controversy over Benghazi a “joke” and “silly.” “Benghazi is a laughable joke,” Dean proclaimed twice in a discussion with Republican National Committee communications chairman Sean Spicer last week. “With all due respect, governor, when four Americans die serving this country, that’s not a joke, sir,” Spicer responded. “Oh, stop it,” said Dean. The former Democratic presidential candidate also said that there were “no serious questions being asked about Benghazi” and brushed it off as an effort by Republicans to score political points.

Stuart Varney said this morning on "Varney & Co." that one of his producers was given a questionnaire with some surprisingly intrusive questions on it when he switched doctors. One of the questions was whether he/she was concerned about unsecured weapons in the home. Another asked whether he/she was "in a relationship in which you have been physically hurt or are you afraid of your partner?" Judge Andrew Napolitano explained that the question about guns comes out of a post-Sandy Hook executive order by President Obama, but it will be required under Obamacare. Varney expressed amazement

While many Americans were tuned into news coverage of the massive damage from tornadoes ravaging the state of Oklahoma, Rhode Island Democratic Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse took to the Senate floor to rail against his Republican colleagues for denying the theory of anthropogenic global warming. Whitehouse spent 15 minutes chastising GOP senators and justified his remarks by alluding to states that seek federal assistance in the wake of natural disasters. “So, you may have a question for me,” Whitehouse said. “Why do you care? Why do you, Sheldon Whitehouse, Democrat of Rhode Island, care
