President Barack Obama opened his first press conference in eight months, noting that America remains in a difficult economy. After reiterating his campaign boilerplate language regarding jobs and education, the president noted that he had met with “civic leaders” before he meets with business leaders later today. Those “civic leaders” included union heads and the leader of far-left MoveOn.org. The president stated that no one in either party wants the nation to go over the “fiscal cliff.” He said that he was open to compromises and new ideas.

Do you people understand the reasoning behind President Zero´s statement that McCain and others should not be critical of Susan Rice ´because she had nothing to do with benghazi, but was merely repeating intelligence briefing information?´ An dno one asked the obvious followup question, which is, "THEN WHY WAS SHE ON ALL THE NEWS SHOWS???" (Zero also said that mccain should direct his questions to zero, but zero had alrady said he knew nuffin about benghazi.)

Actually #3, Barack Obama said the White house put her out to speak of all of the Sunday Talk shows and she did her best with the intelligence she had been given. What he failed to tell us was who provided "the intelligence" and was that intelligence just what the White house told her (to say)?

For such a "brilliant" man, he does not have a discerning mind. Of course criticism of Susan Rice is the same as criticizing her boss. She only trots out and says what she is told to say.

A female suicide bomber blew herself up in the southern Russian region of Dagestan on Saturday injuring at least 18, including two children and five police officers, police said. (Snip) It was the first suicide bombing in Dagestan since the Boston Marathon bombings last month. The Tsarnaev brothers suspected of carrying out those attacks are ethnic Chechens who lived in this turbulent Caucasus province before moving to the U.S. Tamerlan Tsarnaev, the elder brother who was killed a shootout with police days after the April 15 bombings, spent six months in Dagestan in 2012.

A few weeks ago, President Obama advised graduates at Ohio State University that they need not listen to voices warning about tyranny around the corner, because we have self-government in America. He argued that self-government is in and of itself an adequate safeguard against tyranny, because voters can be counted upon to elect democrats (lowercase “d”) not tyrants. His argument defies logic and 20th-century history. It reveals an ignorance of the tyranny of the majority, which believes it can write any law, regulate any behavior, alter any procedure and tax any event so long as it can get away with it.

In a recent column, Michael Gerson wrote about modern conservatism’s “two distinct architectural styles.” One approach within conservatism, he said, celebrates those who seek to apply abstract principles in their purest form. The alternative approach is more disposed toward compromise, incremental progress and taking into account shifting circumstances. What’s worth noting, I think, is that many of those in the first camp consider themselves to be more principled and authentically conservative than those in the second, who are often derided as RINOs and “squishes,” as part of the much-derided “establishment” and who go along to get along.

If there were an organized opposition to comprehensive immigration reform -- and there really isn´t, compared to the political/business/activist/lobbying complex in favor of it -- the opposition would pound daily on the key weakness at the heart of the Senate Gang of Eight bill. That weakness is simple. The bill proposes to legalize 11 million currently illegal immigrants before imposing greater border security and workplace enforcement. In that, the gang´s priorities are different from the American people´s. An opposition would remind the public of that, often. Many polls have shown that voters favor eventual legalization and a pathway to citizenship

American tourists dining on a glacier in eastern Iceland found themselves floating away from shore on an iceberg earlier this week, an Icelandic newspaper reported. Four people were rescued from Fjallsárlón glacial lagoon. They had set up a table and chairs with plans for dinner when a gust of wind pushed the ice from the land. They were stranded about 30 feet from shore. One of the diners managed to jump to shore before the ice drifted too far and call for help. The tourists have not been identified, but a photo captured three of the diners

The Boy Scouts of America (BSA) have reversed their longstanding membership guidelines to allow homosexuals to join the organization. Abuse Of Power: Any scandal investigation that expects a "Eureka!" moment, a White House e-mail, or Oval Office smoking gun will be misguided. In fact, the dots are already connected directly to the president. Barack Obama is not foolish enough to have a tape recording system hidden in his desk. And his administration staff are not careless enough to send one another incriminating e-mails. If the president was behind the IRS unlawfully harassing conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status, we can be sure the communications were all sotto voce and in persona, like any good Chicago political operator.

The murder of a soldier in south London on Wednesday has prompted fears of a backlash against British Muslims after the English Defence League staged an impromptu rally in the capital and two mosques were attacked.
