´Today´ show suffering in ratings because
Matt Lauer´s ´brand is damaged,´
prominent former NBC News exec says

Matt Lauer is so yesterday.TV industry insiders say no amount of NBC executive reshuffling can save the embattled “Today” show — until its longtime co-host throws in the towel.Lauer has been blamed for the show’s ratings woes, which intensified in June when co-host Ann Curry was suddenly ditched and replaced by Savannah Guthrie.“This problem is not going to go away until Matt Lauer does,” a prominent former NBC News exec told the Daily News on Tuesday. “He’s great, but fairly or unfairly, his brand is damaged.”

No matter what angle I view the screen from
I just keep seeing "brain is damaged".

This can´t be a reason, since Whoopie´s brand was damaged long ago and that toad is still leading the band.

The problem isn´t Matt Lauer,Ann Curry, Savannah Guthrie, Williard Scott or any regular. It´s that Today is produced by NBC News and there isn´t anyone in America who doesn´t know that, of all the network news organizations, NBC has the least journalistic integrity. Why wants to start their morning off listening to propaganda?

I´m sorry but the picture of Alexandra Wallace looks like a bad Saturday Night Live skit.

I think the only hope is to replace Lauer with Rosie O´Donnell.

A teary eyed Ann Curry did him in. He´s an egomaniac anyway. Not worth nearly as much as he thinks he is and the ratings prove it. However, this is NBC, they do what they want no matter what their viewers want. Didn´t I read they got a lot of money from the government recently? I think so.

Reply 9 - Posted by: Not your typical New Yorker, 11/14/2012 7:57:21 AM     (No. 9013182)

The NBC brand is damaged but in this case they´ll blame the idiot Lauer, whatev´s, as long as they all go down together.

Reply 10 - Posted by: Bazi, 11/14/2012 8:14:30 AM     (No. 9013221)

Maybe if he started drinking martinis during the show, more people would tune in to see The Loopy Lauer Hour. My dentist had the today show on at 10 am yesterday, and the hostesses were chugging red wine from enormous glasses. Next thing I know they were chugging white wine. The message being, you have to get drunk to get through this stupid production. Go for it Matt.

It´s not Lauer´s brand that´s damaged, it´s his brain.

Who is more odious. Brian Williams or Matt Lauer.

There are certain people who make my skin crawl.
Whoopi Goldberg, Will Ferrell, Katie Couric, president zero, john kerry, nancy pelosi, and ...Matt Lauer.
The list is longer, but the people listed are sufficient to make my point.
Am I alone in this?

Let´s have this exec opine on Brian Williams´ "brand". Williams is supposedly a respected news,an, yet he has yet to mention Benghazi, he bowed!! to Obama, he regularly goes on NBC sitcoms. His "news" division is shared by Al Sharpton, Ed Schultz, Melissa Perry, all leftists, and a coupled those names are also racists.

The last time the Today show had a decent product was when Dave Garroway and J. Fred Muggs were hosting. Come to think of it, Lauer does resemble J. Fred a bit. J. Fred had a little more hair.

Lauer has one last chance. Get a Mistress and be caught nude and having sex in Central Park. He´ll be an overnight sensation.

I remember the first time I saw Williams on NBC. He had just come up from one of their affiliates and was in a spot promoting his new time slot. He actually said that what is best about NBC News is not just that they report they news, but that they "shape it" so its easy to understand.

Close #18, but it would be better if he left his wife for Anderson Cooper and then they could be a co-hosting couple.

Savannah was so snarky and biased during the campaign that she made me sick.

NBC is Nothin´ But Crap - totally in the tank for Obamlooser.

Since election have REFUSED to watch MSM.

"Brand is damaged" is televisionese for "over the hill", "no one watches him any more".

In my opinion he never had the popularity that he and his NBC promoters seemed to think he had.

So they will replace Lauer with another brain dead liberal to keep spouting the left´s agenda.
It´s institutional and because 0bummer´s win they think they have won too.

Anderson Cooper would be an excellent replacement for Saint Matthew the Limited.
cooper is better trained in journalism than anyone else on network tv, and while I do not watch his daytime show, Mrs. Lakerman does, and I have seen enough of Cooper to respect his abilities.

I guess the MSM isn´t getting the message, we don´t watch them any more. Why watch them when everything is slanted to the left.

A national morning wakeup show with the slightest bit of objectivity would clean up in the ratings..

And bonus points if it is headquatered away from Manhattan.

When you get right down to it, the political targeting and stalling of tax-exempt applications by the IRS was an effort to defund the Tea Party. Rick Santelli, one of the Tea Party founders and my CNBC colleague, was the first to make this point. I’ve taken it a step further: The IRS was taking the Tea Party out of play for the 2012 election, as it looked to avoid a repeat of 2010 and another Tea Party landslide. There are a lot of numbers out there.

The president hasn’t attempted to distance himself from the Associated Press snooping campaign. To the contrary, he offered “no apologies.” To be blunt, he approves the most invasive breach of the First Amendment against any news organization in the history of the republic. No president has tried this and for good reason. We now have yet another media abuse story, in a way much more severe. The Post breaks the story that the Obama administration indulged in excruciatingly invasive spying on James Rosen of Fox News and, in an unprecedented move, asserted that his newsgathering is criminal.

WASHINGTON – The Internal Revenue Serviced scandal today spread further within the White House and closer to President Obama. White House spokesman Jay Carney today disclosed that Obama’s chief of staff, Dennis McDonough, and other top White House officials had advance warning that the IRS was targeting conservative groups. But he insisted McDonough and the other White House officials purposely kept Obama out of the loop.McDonough “rightly chose not to take action” to inform Obama, Carney told reporters at the daily White House briefing.

A senior adviser to President Obama mounted a combative defense of the administration on Sunday, saying the controversies enveloping the White House were the result of Republican lawmakers’ trying to “drag Washington into a swamp of partisan fishing expeditions, trumped-up hearings and false allegations.”The remarks came from Dan Pfeiffer, a member of the president’s inner circle, as he appeared on all five major Sunday morning talk shows in an effort to move the administration past what commentators have described as a “hell week” of controversy and missteps.

Conservative radio host Mark Levin is very skeptical of the idea that President Obama had absolutely no idea about the IRS tea party targeting before the story broke in the news mere weeks ago. Levin declared adamantly that it is a “flat-out, bald-faced lie” that Obama didn’t know beforehand, citing prior reports by a few conservative news outlets picking up on the news well before the 2012 presidential election. Levin said, “I don’t believe for two seconds that Obama wasn’t aware of this.”

Nuland, a career foreign service officer who was until recently State´s top spokesperson, had long been expected to be nominated the post to replace Philip Gordon, who Obama picked to serve as Middle East coordinator for the National Security Council. Nuland´s nomination -- which requires Senate confirmation -- could come under scrutiny from Republicans who see her as playing a central role in shaping

On “Fox News Sunday” last weekend, White House aide Dan Pfeiffer was asked about President Barack Obama’s whereabouts the night of the Sept. 11 attack in Benghazi. This was the night when we lost our first ambassador in 30 years, and when three other Americans were killed in an attack that lasted all night long at multiple locations within the eastern Libyan city. Since the president is commander in chief, one would think where he was and what he did during such an event would be of obvious public concern.
