| Budget Talks: If President Obama wants to get a deficit deal done to avoid the fiscal cliff, his biggest challenge won´t be Republicans, but his own hard-core left-wing supporters. Two days after the election, Obama´s favorite economist, Paul Krugman, set the tone for the intransigent left in a column titled: "Let´s not make a deal." Boiled down, his advice to Obama was this: Don´t give in to any Republican demands, even if doing so would "inflict damage on a still-shaky economy." [snip] Krugman´s advice may be disturbingly cold and calculating, but he has plenty of company on the left

It´s not hard to figure. He will, with a wink & nod to his base, go through the motions of negotiating with the Republicans, scuttle any emerging deal with new demands, once again proclaim his willingness to walk McConnell´s dog and then count on the MSM to pin the blame on the GOP. The old "Nailing Jelly to the Wall" trick. Nothing new to see here.

If the US is going to spend excessive amounts on social welfare, then taxes must be raised to pay for it. Borrowing trillions from the Chinese is not an acceptable choice.
If Republicans allow current law to take effect, then they will be able to insist that spending gets cut to pay for any increase in the debt ceiling. Obama will (of course) ignore the law and exceed the debt ceiling, but this will form the basis for impeachment.

Obama wants ALL the Bush tax cuts to expire so he can point the finger at the Republican House and tell the American people that the Republicans raised taxes and lied. He also wants sequestration to fully take effect to further decimate the military and to use those funds for reparations and massive vote buying. Again, sequestration will be blamed on those nasty Republicans who won´t "come to the middle or negotiate in good faith".
Just wait ´til 2014 when the Dem ads come out.

They already said that whatever happens is the GOP´s fault. They got away with blaming Republicans when they had both houses of Congress and a Democratic president, so they will get away with blaming republicans no matter who is to blame. People don´t think --they just accept what the media tells them.

Would be nice if we can raise taxes on the bottom 50% as well. People need to see tax hikes are not the answer to avoid a fiscal cliff.

Bammy´s been making references to Lyndon Johnson lately and he believes he can drag in the legislators and twist arms like the great master. Sorry Bammy, I knew Lyndon Johnson and you´re no Lyndon Johnson.

Let the Bush tax cuts expire for everyone. Let the Payroll Tax Holiday end on schedule. Then ask the President to convince working poor and middle class that he needs even more of their money to invest for them.

Exactly #1. And the Republicans will find a way to point the gun at themselves. What a bunch of chumps. They need to start pushing the Democrats around.

The compromise will come days AFTER the USA jumps off the cliff.
The compromise will raise taxes while providing Bohner an opportunity to say ´I did not vote to raise taxes!´

Why would the democrats compromise? Slashed military spending and higher taxes represents utopia to them. Do you really believe they care about the middle class?

President Obama vastly exaggerated the spending cuts and deficit reduction his budget plan would produce, while dramatically undercounting the level of tax hikes, according to a Congressional Budget Office analysis of his budget released Friday. When Obama put out his budget in mid-April he said that it "will reduce our deficits by nearly another $2 trillion," and "does so in a balanced and responsible way, a way that most Americans prefer." But the CBO report finds that Obama´s budget will cut 10-year deficits by just $1.1 trillion, with annual deficits starting to rise again after 2017.

Like everything else the IRS has said about the tax scandal, its explanation for why it ended up targeting conservative groups turns out to be completely false. Which raises the question: Why are IRS officials trying so desperately to hide what really went on? Ever since the tax scandal broke, top IRS officials have insisted that the reason it started singling out conservative groups for extra review was because the agency was getting a flood of tax-exempt applications. In an op-ed for USA Today, for example, Steven Miller

President Obama went to Texas on Thursday to kick off a nationwide tour pushing his economic policies, apparently unaware that Texas has thrived the past four years by doing pretty much the opposite of what Obama has prescribed. Since taking office, Obama has pushed more government as the way to get the economy moving. He dramatically boosted spending, imposed massive amounts of new regulations, ran enormous deficits, and has imposed more than $1 trillion in tax hikes.

Health Costs: Americans were promised that ObamaCare would make their health care more affordable. But a pair of studies show the new system has done nothing to lower health costs and will sharply raise them. Between 2009 and 2011, U.S. health spending rose just 3.9% a year, the lowest annual gains in decades. The Obama administration was quick to claim credit for the slowdown, with Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius saying ObamaCare had "contributed to the slowest sustained growth in health spending in 50 years."

Medical Overhaul: Democrats fret about a "train wreck" when ObamaCare goes into effect next year. But the law is already a disaster for workers who´ve seen their hours and benefits cut as employers try to avoid its costs. As IBD´s Jed Graham reported late last week, government data clearly show that businesses are already cutting worker hours and benefits in advance of ObamaCare´s employer mandate, under which every business with 50 or more full-time workers will have to provide government-approved insurance.

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius has been complaining a lot about money lately. Specifically, about how she doesn´t have enough to implement ObamaCare. [snip] The implication is that this is mainly the GOP´s fault — they are starving ObamaCare for money when it needs it most. The press has started to pick up on this talking point. Ezra Klein, who writes extensively on health care for the Washington Post, said Republicans are purposefully trying to derail ObamaCare´s launch.

The nation´s disability rolls continued to climb sharply, as 76,983 workers enrolled in the Social Security Disability Insurance program in April, according to new data from the Social Security Administration. More than 300,000 have joined the program so far this year. The number of workers on permanent disability is now a record 8,865,586, a net increase of one million in just three years. Today, 6.5 workers are on disability for every 100 who have a job. That´s double the ratio from two decades ago.

WASHINGTON – The Internal Revenue Serviced scandal today spread further within the White House and closer to President Obama. White House spokesman Jay Carney today disclosed that Obama’s chief of staff, Dennis McDonough, and other top White House officials had advance warning that the IRS was targeting conservative groups. But he insisted McDonough and the other White House officials purposely kept Obama out of the loop.McDonough “rightly chose not to take action” to inform Obama, Carney told reporters at the daily White House briefing.

The Washington Post on Monday reported that Obama’s Department of Justice was investigating journalists before they started wiretapping the Associated Press – for one, Fox News correspondent James Rosen in 2010. Their headline wasn´t "Obama Team Also Spied on Fox News." Fox wasn´t in the headline, on A-1 or on A-12, where the story continued. Newly obtained court documents “reveal how deeply investigators explored the private communications of a working journalist — and raise the question of how often journalists have been investigated as closely as Rosen was in 2010.” Reporter Ann Marimow began:

"Can you see in your mind´s eye a way that this might not have been political, that this was a misguided stupid way to sort, but that they didn´t intend it to be some kind of political attempt to harass the Tea Party?" So actually asked CNN´s Candy Crowley of her guest Sen. A senior adviser to President Obama mounted a combative defense of the administration on Sunday, saying the controversies enveloping the White House were the result of Republican lawmakers’ trying to “drag Washington into a swamp of partisan fishing expeditions, trumped-up hearings and false allegations.”The remarks came from Dan Pfeiffer, a member of the president’s inner circle, as he appeared on all five major Sunday morning talk shows in an effort to move the administration past what commentators have described as a “hell week” of controversy and missteps.

Stuart Varney said this morning on "Varney & Co." that one of his producers was given a questionnaire with some surprisingly intrusive questions on it when he switched doctors. One of the questions was whether he/she was concerned about unsecured weapons in the home. Another asked whether he/she was "in a relationship in which you have been physically hurt or are you afraid of your partner?" Judge Andrew Napolitano explained that the question about guns comes out of a post-Sandy Hook executive order by President Obama, but it will be required under Obamacare. Varney expressed amazement

While many Americans were tuned into news coverage of the massive damage from tornadoes ravaging the state of Oklahoma, Rhode Island Democratic Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse took to the Senate floor to rail against his Republican colleagues for denying the theory of anthropogenic global warming. Whitehouse spent 15 minutes chastising GOP senators and justified his remarks by alluding to states that seek federal assistance in the wake of natural disasters. “So, you may have a question for me,” Whitehouse said. “Why do you care? Why do you, Sheldon Whitehouse, Democrat of Rhode Island, care
