| U.S. oil output is poised to surpass Saudi Arabia’s in the next decade, making the world’s biggest fuel consumer almost self-reliant and putting it on track to become a net exporter, the International Energy Agency said. Growing supplies of crude extracted through new technology including hydraulic fracturing of underground rock formations will transform the U.S. into the largest producer for about five years starting about 2020, the Paris-based adviser to 28 nations said today in its annual World Energy Outlook. Importing foreign oil is fine with Obama as long as it comes from a Muslim country or from Venezuela as long as Chavez is in power. As for our own oil reserves, more and more will be taken over as "federal land" while the environmentalists will prevail when it comes to fracking. Bye bye North Dakota boom. The Keystone Pipeline will not be built (Obama doesn´t have to worry about the union vote anymore) and we will see gas shortages that will make the Carter years seem like abundance.

Obama will do his best to ensure both U.S. oil output and U.S. oil imports plummet during his 2nd term. These stories are starting to feel like propaganda, and that´s annoying.

Like any numbers that the 0namaNation gleefully manipulate for their purposes, this means NOTHING. Without drilling on ´´environmentally sensitive´´ closed lands, fracking and whatever coal people do, and building and replacing old oil refineries with latest technology, the dRATS will obfuscate any progress in this area, especially with dis-proven ´´green-energy´´ ventures.

The House can do whatever it likes, but any legislation that Obama dislikes will be voted down by the Senate. Or if not, Obama will veto it. At this point, I doubt we could ever muster 2/3 of either house to defy Obama´s wishes.

1) The tight oil he is referring to is the oil that is still trapped in the shale bodies below the major oil deposits of the US. The growth in tight oil production has been exponential. EIA keeps under predicting the current production and then assuming the coming year will grow but by not as much as this year. They keep predicting a peak but the growth remains exponential.
2) EPA has no permit approval authority on private land. TX and ND know their rights. NY blinked and have spent the last 4 years rewriting their rules.

The House last week voted to restrict implementation of the 2010 New START arms treaty with Russia until the Obama administration outlines its plans for nuclear cuts. The restriction is contained in the fiscal 2014 defense authorization bill that passed the House on Friday by a vote of 315 to 107. Section 1052 of the bill limits the Pentagon and Energy Department from spending any funds on nuclear forces reduction until two conditions are met. The limits would be lifted only after the Pentagon submits a plan required in law that outlines strategic nuclear cuts under New START.
