| Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) on Sunday said he had resurrected talks over an immigration reform proposal with Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.). Schumer´s announcement comes as both President Obama and top Republicans have signaled a willingness to compromise and pass comprehensive immigration reform. Schumer and Graham had worked on an immigration plan two years ago but the proposal stalled. "Sen. Graham and I have talked and we are resuming the talks that were broken off two years ago," Schumer said on Meet the Press. "We had put together a comprehensive, detailed blueprint on immigration reform.

Comments: OMG If that doesn´t send a chill down your spine nothing will. Graham has been highly critical of those in the "right wing" of the party. I don´t know how I´m going to make it through these next four years.

Senator Grahamnesty strikes again. If he agrees to give amnesty to all these illegals, Schumer will up the ante to give them all food stamps for life, or some other benefit that will buy their Democrat votes forever. We might as well give up.

A modest proposal: if amnesty is inevitable, consider a framework where the new population is dispersed to avoid concentrations that stress existing government programs.
Allow for citizenship to be accelerated based on geography. Citizenship quicker in areas where newcomers are in short supply, longer near the borders. It would encourage migration away from already overburdened areas-- AZ TX CA.

Only if they are not allowed to vote for 25 years!
The Dems would never pass that since they want the votes, they don´t care at all about the people themselves.

Giving 20 million people amnesty means giving them social security, medicare, food stamps, earned income tax credit....
Any deal should include huge tax increases or spending cuts to cover the costs of these additional benefits.

"Reform" is Democrat Orwellian-speak for complete socialism. The immigration laws we have right now are just fine if they were to be enforced.

A resident of a southwestern state commented to me some time ago that these people coming across the Mexican border are not the sharpest knives in their country´s drawer. We should open immigration to people who can add needed skills and talents, not as an escape for the less productive element.
I begin by wondering why we should tell the people who crossed our border illegally that it was okay. Have we no standards? Someone has commented that a nation that can´t control its borders is doomed to destruction.

If the Stupid Party goes along with any liberal Democrat "path to citizenship" amnesty for illegal aliens that will eventually give the liberal Democrats many millions of new foreign born voters the Stupid Party will have committed long-term political suicide.
There is no way that the Stupid Party can out bid the liberal Democrats for the votes of poor low wage earning legalized aliens, the highly partisan liberal Democrats know that very well, and would not be be spending their time and energy if they ever thought that more then a very small percentage of legalized aliens would ever have an epifinany and vote for conservative Republicans.
On top of that the Hispanics who voted for Obama in the recent election are not going to start voting for the Stupid Party because they caved, and went along to get along with a liberal Democrat amnesty, instead before every future election they will be demanding another amnesty.

President Barack Obama said today that there have been no "large scale" terrorist attacks on the United States since he became president. The statement comes less than six weeks after the terrorist attack on the Boston Marathon, which killed 5 people, injured 280 people (including 16 police officers), and forced the city to shut down while police conducted a door-to-door search for the terrorists. “So after I took office, we stepped up the war against al Qaeda but we also sought to change its course,” said Obama at Ft. McNair’s National Defense University in Washington, D.C.

The Boy Scouts of America today voted to lift its longtime ban on admitting gay Scouts but will continue to exclude openly gay adults from leadership roles. The vote by its 1,400 national membership came as no surprise to gay rights advocates, who hailed it as a first step to ending discriminatory practices in the 103-year-old organization. The ruling by secret ballot at a national convention in Dallas means that mothers like Jennifer Tyrrell, who is a lesbian, will still be excluded from the Boy Scouts.

Although White House Chief Counsel Kathryn Ruemmler claims to have learned about the IRS audit scandal only last month, she had three unprecedented one-on-one meetings last year with the Treasury Department’s chief lawyer, who has known about the inspector general’s investigation of the Internal Revenue Service’s targeting of conservative nonprofits since at least June 2012. The Treasury lawyer in turn has a long history of extreme left-wing agitation. Christopher J. Meade, Treasury Chief Counsel, met with Ruemmler on September 27th, December 11th, and December 13th, 2012, according to White House Visitor Records requests.

President Barack Obama condemned “in the strongest terms the appalling attack" that killed an off-duty British soldier in a London suburb. “There can be absolutely no justification for such acts, and our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the victim, the police and security services responding to this horrific act and the communities they serve, and the British people,” Obama said in a statement the White House released Thursday. Obama also reaffirmed the “special relationship” between the United States and the United Kingdom.

President Obama is using his national security address today to reject the "Global War on Terror." "Beyond Afghanistan, we must define our effort not as a boundless ‘global war on terror’ – but rather as a series of persistent, targeted efforts to dismantle specific networks of violent extremists that threaten America. In many cases, this will involve partnerships with other countries. Thousands of Pakistani soldiers have lost their lives fighting extremists. In Yemen, we are supporting security forces that have reclaimed territory

President Barack Obama knows the dangers of not going far enough or fast enough to stop the climate crisis. History will celebrate his decision to lead us toward a clean energy economy that solves climate change and creates long-term, sustainable jobs for Americans. But achieving this awesome goal requires that we reject the TransCanada Corp.’s proposal to build the Keystone XL pipeline, which would cut through the heartland of America. This is a simple decision for a president who supports protecting our climate and creating jobs. Returning our economy to stable growth requires Americans to

Former Rep. I’m running for mayor because I’ve been fighting for the middle class and those struggling to make it for my entire life.

The dam protecting the IRS scandal began to crack today when Lois Lerner, the IRS official who announced, and apologized for, the improper singling out of conservative-leaning organizations by IRS employees under her command, announced through her criminal defense lawyer that she will not testify as scheduled tomorrow before the House Oversight Committee. Rather, she will assert her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination. This marks an enormous milestone in the IRS investigation. It can now be taken as more or less established that crimes were committed by Obama administration employees. Lerner’s lawyer tried to minimize the significance

The public got its first look Thursday at Lois Lerner, who has gone from faceless IRS bureaucrat to the face that launched what feels like 1,000 congressional hearings and conspiracy theories. But it was only a brief sighting since she didn´t stay long at a House hearing to further probe her role in how some IRS workers came to target conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status. (Snip)She did make a short statement to declare her innocence, however. Lerner´s motivation was more transparent than much of what the IRS has done in connection with this controversy. She was determined to

When you get right down to it, the political targeting and stalling of tax-exempt applications by the IRS was an effort to defund the Tea Party. Rick Santelli, one of the Tea Party founders and my CNBC colleague, was the first to make this point. I’ve taken it a step further: The IRS was taking the Tea Party out of play for the 2012 election, as it looked to avoid a repeat of 2010 and another Tea Party landslide. There are a lot of numbers out there.

What´s so interesting about 60 tea partiers protesting the IRS in San Jose, California on Tuesday, May 21st? The fact that this bit of information was conveyed to the protesters by a Department of Homeland Security officer who was also in attendance. What was a DHS agent doing at the San Jose Tea Party protest? (snip) they weren´t just spying on us in San Jose and monitoring us in San Francisco, they were watching us throughout the entire state
