| Michigan voters rejected two union-backed efforts to amend that state’s constitution on Tuesday despite heavy spending by big labor and a largely unionized population. Government employees unions led by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) proposed two amendments to the state constitution that would have made collective bargaining a constitutional right (Proposition 2) and forced family members that care for disabled relatives into the union (Proposition 4). Despite the fact that the state’s workforce is 17.5 percent unionized--about 50 percent higher than the national average, according to a 2011 Bureau of Labor Statistics study, the most recent available--Proposition 2 lost

One of the few bright spots in the election outcome The unions in Michigan literally wanted to force people who are taking care of elderly parents to pay union dues.

The ads were disgusting. For prop 4 they used very frail elderly people who begged to be able to stay in their homes. The ads blatantly lied by saying the issue was to get state licensing for home health care workers so seniors could get good qualified care. I was very happy my fellow Michiganders didn´t fall for it.

The proposals on the ballot were an attempt to lock into the state constitution union power grabs. The collective bargaining in Prop 2 was for public and private unions. It was to ensure that What happened in Wisconsin would not happen in Michigan. Prop 4 was a way to get money to SEIU. Jennifer Granholm approved the unionization of home health care workers even if they were family members and the dues are automatically taken out of the state payments. SEIU is the union receiving the money and they do nothing for the home health care workers.

I expect to see more of this. You can tick off blue state voters. They just have a higher threshold of pain. The unionized public utilities aren´t covering themselves with glory in the Sandy clean-up.

Michigan won´t be the first over the cliff. For the most part the state is pretty red, yes the blue Detroit, Flint, Saginaw is a huge pain and corrupt as the day is long in july. Michigan had an attempt made by corrupt unions to take over a larger share of the workforce and they were shot down by the voters. Now we need to get the legislature to make us a right to work state. As for the first over the cliff, California and then New York. California is already over, they just haven´t hit the ground yet.

As an ex union member I should take exception to all that is said here, however, it´s all true. Unions care nothing for anything but the union. I have seen first hand how they will take care of the leadership and screw the members. Hopefully we will have a right to work country in the future.

While national eyes were on the presidential election on Nov. 6, citizens of Louisiana were voting on a state-constitutional amendment that made the right to keep and bear arms "a fundamental right," and put gun-grabbing judges on notice. Titled the ´´Louisiana Right To Bear Arms, Amendment 2 (2012)´´, the amendment passed 73.45 percent to 26.55. WASHINGTON – The Internal Revenue Serviced scandal today spread further within the White House and closer to President Obama. White House spokesman Jay Carney today disclosed that Obama’s chief of staff, Dennis McDonough, and other top White House officials had advance warning that the IRS was targeting conservative groups. But he insisted McDonough and the other White House officials purposely kept Obama out of the loop.McDonough “rightly chose not to take action” to inform Obama, Carney told reporters at the daily White House briefing.

The Washington Post on Monday reported that Obama’s Department of Justice was investigating journalists before they started wiretapping the Associated Press – for one, Fox News correspondent James Rosen in 2010. Their headline wasn´t "Obama Team Also Spied on Fox News." Fox wasn´t in the headline, on A-1 or on A-12, where the story continued. Newly obtained court documents “reveal how deeply investigators explored the private communications of a working journalist — and raise the question of how often journalists have been investigated as closely as Rosen was in 2010.” Reporter Ann Marimow began:

The wheels came off the Obama administration yesterday. We learned of a startling assault on freedom of the press by the Department of Justice, following the revelation last week of the unprecedented information-gathering foray by that department against The Associated Press. Then, a few minutes later, the Justice Department’s inspector general released a report declaring that the US attorney in Arizona used the leak of a confidential memo to try to discredit a whistleblower in the notorious “gun-walking” scandal known as Fast and Furious (which got two federal agents killed). The leak was called “egregious.”

A senior adviser to President Obama mounted a combative defense of the administration on Sunday, saying the controversies enveloping the White House were the result of Republican lawmakers’ trying to “drag Washington into a swamp of partisan fishing expeditions, trumped-up hearings and false allegations.”The remarks came from Dan Pfeiffer, a member of the president’s inner circle, as he appeared on all five major Sunday morning talk shows in an effort to move the administration past what commentators have described as a “hell week” of controversy and missteps.

Stuart Varney said this morning on "Varney & Co." that one of his producers was given a questionnaire with some surprisingly intrusive questions on it when he switched doctors. One of the questions was whether he/she was concerned about unsecured weapons in the home. Another asked whether he/she was "in a relationship in which you have been physically hurt or are you afraid of your partner?" Judge Andrew Napolitano explained that the question about guns comes out of a post-Sandy Hook executive order by President Obama, but it will be required under Obamacare. Varney expressed amazement
