| The Danish government has said it intends to abolish a tax on foods which are high in saturated fats. The measure, introduced a little over a year ago, was believed to be the world´s first so-called "fat tax". Foods containing more than 2.3% saturated fat - including dairy produce, meat and processed foods - were subject to the surcharge. But authorities said the tax had inflated food prices and put Danish jobs at risk. The Danish tax ministry said it was also cancelling its plans to introduce a tax on sugar, the AFP news agency reports.

These taxes will destroy jobs--just like Obamacare.
Why do people put up with government telling how to live their lives and what they can eat or drink?

My Grandfathers generation ate cream, butter, gravy at EVERY meal, meat with a much higher fat content, lots of starches and about 1/3 as much sugar
.
He NEVER exercised and he had a sedentary job.
He ate what he wanted and a lot of it.
He and his family, they all ate alike, were NOT fat.
Whatever this generation did worked, Denmarks´ plan didn´t. But notice it only says they went to Germany, guess thats why it failed to make Danes skinny?
I think someday when the "smart" people start thinking out of the box, it will be found to be something far away from todays accepted reason(think Ulcers)

FTA: some Danes had begun crossing the border into Germany to stock up on food there.
I´m surprised they didn´t have border checks forcing Danes to pay a surcharge on German butter, cookies and brats.

It´s the carbs that make us fat.
This information has been in scientific textbooks for years.
Obesity has risen as a direct result of CHO consumption.
A tax on carbs would eventually reduce obesity, much to the alarm of ethical vegetarians such as Ornish.

#7, no, taxes on carbs are not appropriate either, in a free country. (Of course it´s arguable we are a free country anymore.)
How ridiculous for government to jump on the food-demonization bandwagon. One year it´s fats that are evil, the next year, it´s carbs.
Look, our bodies need both fats and carbs. It´s up to people to make their own choices about which ones, and how much. There´s plenty of information out there for people to be capable of making their own informed choices.
If anyone chooses to eat unwisely (as our favorite constitutionalist, Mark Levin, says he does), that should be their choice.

Rep. Mike Pompeo (R-Kan.) was not impressed with Sen. Max Baucus´s (D-Mont.) criticism of how the Obama administration has implemented its signature healthcare law. Baucus said Wednesday that he fears the implementation will be a "huge train wreck" because people do not understand what the reform law does. If it´s a train wreck, Pompeo said, Baucus has no one to blame but himself. Google should google it: Cesar Chavez’s legacy on illegal immigration may not be what Google thinks it is. Here’s a Ruben Navarrette column on the subject. As a labor leader, Chavez realized that uncontrolled immigration undercut his workers’ bargaining position–as late as 1979 he inveighed against “illegal alien strikebreakers” before Congress.. Some of his tactics were even less than Gandhiesque … P.S.: Of course, he changed his position in later years “under pressure from Chicano yaktivists.” That doesn’t mean his later position was right (or wrong).

It is understood that a contingency plan is in place for the unlikely event that an attempt would be made on the President’s life. The Secret Service also have diplomatic immunity which will allow them to shoot to kill a would-be assassin without fear of prosecution. As part of the “evacuation route” plan, they would be able to spirit the President by chopper to one of the carriers where a jet is on standby to take him back to the United States.
