Diplomats still in Benghazi
say they had long questioned
U.S. reliance on local militia

McClatchy Newspapers, by Nancy A. Youssef

Original Article

BENGHAZI, Libya — Even before the deadly Sept. 11 attack on the U.S. consulate that killed Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans, diplomats from other nations and Libyan security officials had questioned the wisdom of a U.S. decision to rely primarily on members of a local militia to protect its compound here. Diplomats here told McClatchy that while it’s customary to depend on local forces to protect diplomatic missions, only the United States of the 10 or so foreign missions here allowed the local militia to be the first line of defense.

Well of course. Obama and Hillary wanted to show that their Arab Spring support was resulting in a new era of kumbaya brotherhood. So they purposely and foolishly went for the incredibly stupid strategy of using the dangerous local militia to "guard" our consulate.

Forget about the coverup. This insane strategy itself should be the real subject of the investigation and the reason for the dismissal of all involved.

The buck stops with Hillary, at State (and REALLY stops with Obama) and I hope the voters will remember the Hillary part in 2016. But they probably won´t, when red nosed Bill goes forward talking about truth and honesty, after being impeached and disbarred for abusing same. The problem with the American voter is that he is ignorant of the facts, intends to stay that way, and thinks we can go on forever with people like Obama and Hillary and Bill at the helm. The chickens HAVE come home to roost and Obama, not smart enough (but arrogant) to know what he doesn´t know, is going to go full force with his nasty Chicago style agenda......just watch!

Apparently we did not want our own military in there questioning the guns we were giving to our enemy!

I thought the CIA is supposed to be a covert/secret (i.e. spy) organization of the US. From reading this report, it appears the locals in Benghazi understood that the CIA station house nearby would be the backup for security at the embassy. Why would Lybian local security know about the location and activities of our CIA?

Brilliant. Zip´s consuming passion to keep the Muslims happy costs American lives, not to mention degrading our status everywhere.

Makes perfect sense. Muslims are hired to "protect" us overseas while we have Russian subs cruising off our shores now.

Rand Paul will never be elected president—and that is a very good thing for our country, for a great many reasons. Paul is a libertarian first, a Republican second, and a conservative only when his libertarianism accidentally intersects with conservative values. And that’s not very often. Republicans, especially conservatives, have fought for civil rights for more than fifty years. Democrats were the principal opponents of the 1964 Civil Rights Act. Paul, however, has gotten himself into trouble over the matter. For example, in an April 2010 videotaped with the Louisville Courier-Journal, he was asked whether he would have voted for the

Suppose a scientific conference on cancer prevention never addressed smoking, on the grounds that in a free society you can´t change private behavior, and anyway, maybe the statistical relationships between smoking and cancer are really caused by some other third variable. Wouldn´t some suspect that the scientists who raised these claims were driven by something—ideology, tobacco money—other than science? Yet in the current discussions about increased inequality, few researchers, fewer reporters, and no one in the executive branch of government directly addresses what seems to be the strongest statistical correlate of inequality in the United States: the rise of single-parent

Joan Eisenstodt didn´t have a stopwatch when she went to see an ear, nose and throat specialist recently, but she is certain the physician was not in the exam room with her for more than three or four minutes. "He looked up my nose, said it was inflamed, told me to see the nurse for a prescription and was gone," said the 66-year-old Washington, D.C., consultant, who was suffering from an acute sinus infection. When she started protesting the doctor´s choice of medication, "He just cut me off totally," she said. "I´ve never been in and out from a visit faster." These days,

US college students studying abroad prime

The FBI has issued a stern warning to U.S. college students studying abroad: Beware of foreign intelligence officers who are discreetly targeting young, often naive Americans for espionage activities. Glenn Shriver seemed like any other adventure-seeking college student -- embarking on a study abroad program to China in 2004 while majoring in international affairs at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan. The cash-strapped college junior from Jenison, Mich., soon became an easy target of Chinese intelligence officers, who first paid him to write political papers in what seemed like a benign job. The People´s Republic of China officers then befriended Shriver

After early complaints that out-of-state firms got the most jobs, some local construction trade workers and union members in Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia say they´re now benefiting in a big way from the Marcellus and Utica Shale oil and gas boom. That vocal support from blue-collar workers complicates efforts by environmentalists to limit the drilling process known as fracking. "The shale became a lifesaver and a lifeline for a lot of working families," said Dennis Martire, the mid-Atlantic regional manager for the Laborers´ International Union, or LIUNA, which represents workers in numerous construction trades. Martire said that as huge quantities of natural

HONOLULU-- Officials say a 16-year-old boy is "lucky to be alive" and unharmed after flying from California to Hawaii stowed away in a plane´s wheel well, surviving cold temperatures at 38,000 feet and a lack of oxygen. "Doesn´t even remember the flight," FBI spokesman Tom Simon in Honolulu told The Associated Press on Sunday night. "It´s amazing he survived that." The boy was questioned by the FBI after being discovered on the tarmac at the Maui airport Sunday morning with no identification, Simon said. "Kid´s lucky to be alive," Simon said. After a lengthy study of the plans for the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline, the U.S. State Department issued an 11-volume report back in January confirming what most experts had already concluded long before then: the vital project would not damage the environment or increase the rate of carbon pollution. But liberal activists weren’t happy and have used the 90-day automatic review process that followed that report to furiously lobby the administration to stop the construction of the 1,700-mile pipeline from Alberta to the Gulf Coast refineries. The key player in that effort was Tom Steyer, the billionaire environmental

For Hillary Clinton, having her own baby grandchild to kiss on the campaign trail, could be one of the biggest boosts to her possible presidential election campaign. Although the former Secretary of State and First Lady has not said if she will run in 2016, the arrival of her first grandchild will soften her image, analysts have said. While Chelsea only revealed her pregnancy on Thursday, supporters of her mother have already started cooing over a possible baby in the White House. With the Clintons having a near-royal status in the U.S., the announcement of a new arrival due this fall has sent

That was quite a victory dance President Obama did Thursday while claiming Obamacare is “working” because eight million people have now supposedly signed up for the health care program. He even indulged in some less-than-subtle mockery of Republicans - and by extension the majority of Americans who have disapproved of Obamacare since before it became law. "The repeal debate is and should be over,” Obama said, taking a dig at Republicans who are “going through, you know, the stages of grief … anger and denial and all that stuff …” But a president who is viewed by most Americans as less

In a speech earlier this week, Lisa O. Monaco, President Barack Obama’s assistant for homeland security and counterterrorism, insisted that American parents must be vigilant because their “confrontational” children could be on the verge of becoming terrorists. Monaco’s full, prepared text is available here. She presented the speech, entitled “Countering Violent Extremism and the Power of Community,” at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government on April 15. Monaco began her remarks by eloquently describing the lives tragically lost last year during the Boston Marathon bombings. Interestingly, the Harvard grad failed to mention the religion or the motive of brothers Dzhokhar and Tamerlan

GREENSBORO, Ga. — Golf holes the size of pizzas. Soccer balls on the back nine. A mulligan on every hole. These are some of the measures — some would say gimmicks — that golf courses across the country have experimented with to stop people from quitting the game. Golf has always reveled in its standards and rich tradition. But increasingly a victim of its own image and hidebound ways, golf has lost five million players in the last decade, according to the National Golf Foundation, with 20 percent of the existing 25 million golfers apt to quit in the next few years. People under 35 have especially spurned the game, saying it takes too

If the Rev. John DeBonville could preach a sermon to lift the souls of churchgoers across America, his message would be simple: Stop dressing so tacky for church. DeBonville has heard about the “come as you are” approach to dressing down for Sunday service, but he says the Sabbath is getting too sloppy. When he scans the pews of churches, DeBonville sees rows of people dressed in their Sunday worst. They saunter into church in baggy shorts, flip-flop sandals, tennis shoes and grubby T-shirts. Some even slide into the pews carrying coffee in plastic foam containers as if they’re going to Starbucks. “It’s like

He has power, incredible power, and yet to this day he has no understanding of the election that made it so. Moreover, all around him are astonishing opportunities for him to be an historic figure -- one who could and should be the man who did more than any other single person in turning back the red tide of Obama. It’s all there for Speaker of the House, and yet John Boehner manages to miss

President Obama asserts that 8 million people have signed up for Obamacare, as though that were something to be proud of. In fact, Obamacare has always been a fiasco from a fiscal perspective–a black hole of subsidies and expanded Medicaid, with largely fictitious mechanisms in place to pay for it. As the number of subsidized participants grows, the disaster gets worse. Charles Blahous explains: Our national discussion…is missing the truly significant story here; what is unfolding before our eyes is a colossal fiscal disaster, poised to haunt legislators and taxpayers for decades to come. It is quite possible that the ACA is
