Mitt Romney sends note
of thanks to supporters

Washington - Mitt Romney sent a note Saturday to his campaign backers saying he and his wife "cannot thank you enough for supporting and believing in our cause." "This was more than just a campaign - this was a national movement," he said. "Thank you for the work that you did - going across neighborhoods to knock on doors and put up yard signs. Thanks for making phone calls, coming to rallies, donating funds, and convincing friends and family to join our team."

Comments:
I suspect most of us L-Dotters got one.

Got one and I thought it was a very nice gesture.

What an opportunity America had to have a truly great and honorable leader. Instead, "we" chose Zero for 4 more years. So far, in the first few days after the election, he has blocked millions of acres of federal lands for drilling, the Petraeus scandal was revealed, his bipartisan olive branch was cut off with his demand to raise taxes on the rich, HHS has started releasing their new Obamacare requirements. It is going to be a long, miserable four years....

Romney is a nice guy and not the kind who finishes last. The Beltway Republican leadership deliberately spent two years in alienating the grassroots - he and his advisers enthusiastically went along with it. End of story.

I, too thought that many of my fellow L-dotters would be reading the note.

One has to appreciate an act of class from a good family--vilified the way they were by the classless Obama and his media army.

If the leadership and goodness of Mitt Romney didn´t appeal to the country, then we are in big trouble. It doesn´t say much for the character of this country, not to mention brains.

The gracious note from this lovely couple took some of the sting out of our inexplicable loss.

#5 hit the nail on the head. We have become a banana republic without the bananas.

Decent men like Mitt Romney will stay home and enjoy their families.

We will be left with the scum of the earth to "lead" us.

Romney conducted himself as a gentleman with morals and character. That is objectionable to most of the country because it shows up their own low class behaviors.
He can hold his head high and be proud of himself.

God bless him. He and Paul Ryan would have been an amazing team. The electorate´s failure to see this is our loss.

I received the note, too. If the Governor and his wife are reading this, I say thank you both for all you both did to try to turn this country back to the right course. Mitt Romney is the best man ever to run for President and lose. So sad. I heard Mrs. Romney cried on election night. I did, too.

I was lookin forward to receiving a Christmas card showing Mitt and Ann by the tree in the East Room, but I´ll take the note I got from him instead.

I surely wish him even more success in whatever he´s called upon to do, be it business or another run at an office.

Received the gracious Thank you from Mitt & Ann Romney. I wrote back, "it is WE who should be thanking you both for your sacrifice during the past year".. I don´t know my Country any more. It´s sad that the only explanation that seems logical is this Election was stolen! How bad is that?

How grateful I am for his huge effort, and that he did not drag the Presidential into the mud by answering Zippy in his own terms. He kept it on the issues. Somebody other than Jake Tapper finally asked Zippy a few tough questions about the public good.

My husband and I each received Mitt´s thank you note.
Does anyone think for one moment that The Won would have been as gracious in defeat?
He would have exhorted his folks to get revenge.
He would have had them burn this country to the ground.
I believe now that God saved us from a savagery we could only imagine.
I am unhappy, devastated that Mitt and Paul lost but I think had they won, we would be paying for 1000 years.

Unfortunately more scum now live in America and vote democratic. And we are being told we must relate to these people. Okay, I understand what they are implying but how do you relate to people who do not want to work, who have no interest in their education, who do not believe in personal responsibility, who have baby after baby without being married etc. etc. I imagine in a short period of time Mr. Romney will be able to say "I told you so" but won´t because he is too decent.

I am sorry to say that America 2012 does not deserve a man like Mitt Romney - a man of integrity, intelligence and patriotism as president.
America deserves Obama.
I have never been so ashamed of my country in all my life.

In 1980 we were smart enough to correct the mistake the electorate made in 1976 in electing the incompetent peanut farmer in knee-jerk reaction to Watergate. 32 years later, with an even more incompetent - and this time anti-American - president more than worthy of being thrown out, America opted for four more years of national suicide.
So shameful.

Although I have not (yet)received a note from Mr. Romney, I would like to write to him to express my sorrow that he lost, and gratitude for the upright effort he made for those of us who love this country. Would one of you who received his note be kind enough to respond with the return address on your note? Thank you so much. I will check back to the site from time to time.

Folks I´m not spending a dime for the holidays or the next one. In my household we will learn about a spiritual Christmas, no more movies unless they are conservative leaning. I´m not going to feel bad about the job losses or the outsourcing. Am I going to feel the pinch? of course. Do I know if we can survive this storm? I´m praying but I do not. I´m going a step farther and plan to punish unions in anyway possible for this miscarriage and fraud. Charity will be based on whether my values are similar or not.

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev’s nurses admit
it’s hard not to call him ‘hon’

Nurses treating Boston bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev say their natural inclination toward compassion makes it difficult to see the 19-year-old as a possible terrorist. And they have to make concerted effort — and buddy-system pacts — to keep from referring to him with terms of endearment such as “hon.” One 29-year-old nurse said on Gawker: “When you’re in the room, it’s just a patient. You’re here to … make sure they’re feeling better. When you step away, you take it in. I am compassionate, that’s what we do. But should I be? The rest of the world hates him right now.”

The government will use any and all information at its disposal to find journalist sources, as shown in The Washington Post´s report this morning on a Department of Justice investigation into Fox News chief correspondent James Rosen, who may face criminal charges for reporting government secrets. In June 2009, Rosen reported on CIA analysis suggesting that North Korea might respond to new UN sanctions with renewed nuclear tests. In order to determine how Rosen learned of the analysis, which had been issued by the CIA only a few hours prior, FBI investigators used every tool at their disposal: analyzing

Last Thursday, Congressman Darrell Issa (R-CA) started a Twitter prairie fire with his call for people to describe #ObamacareInThreeWords. (My contribution was “Sorry, Doctor retired.”) (Snip) The White House, never shy to jump into social media, responded with a flurry of tweets, including “It’s. The. Tooth and Nail: Fluoride
Fight Cracks Portland´s Left

PORTLAND, Ore.—In the 1950s, after health authorities began fluoridating U.S. water supplies, they faced opposition from groups like the John Birch Society, which called it "an unconstitutional mass medication of the public." Sixty years later, the fight over fluoridation has erupted in Portland, where the battle has drawn in the city´s craft-beer brewers, organic-food purveyors and environmentalists. Even some of the city´s famed indie-rock musicians are taking sides. The debate has prompted something of an existential crisis in this self-consciously liberal city, which votes Tuesday on whether to overturn the city council´s 2012 decision to fluoridate.

I first saw the headline early Tuesday on Real Clear Politics, a political news site where I generally start my morning. It´s not where I expect to see a story on breast cancer. Then I checked my e-mail messages -- they all seemed to be about Angelina Jolie´s op-ed. Students in my undergraduate class wanted to discuss it in our next session. Colleagues expressed concern and wondered what the right response was. People I don´t even know sent e-mails. One, from a research fellow at the International Agency for Research on Cancer, nicely summed up the general concern:

Three Signs There’s a Cover-Up

The late columnist William Safire once said that a good clue that someone in Washington was engaged in “an artful dodge,” i.e., a cover-up, was that they used the phrase “mistakes were made.” Safire defined it as a “passive-evasive way of acknowledging error while distancing the speaker from responsibility for it.” The phrase became infamous when both Richard Nixon and Ron Ziegler, his press secretary, deployed it to explain away Watergate without explaining who did what and when or whether any ill motive was involved. Astonishingly, the Internal Revenue Service resurrected the Nixonian expression within hours

Just when you think the news surrounding Obamagate cannot get any worse, it does. Some say U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder’s days on the job are numbered and that it’s just a matter of when he’ll be forced to resign. While I’ll not shed a tear over Holder’s departure, one of the replacement names being floated has me reaching for tissues: Gov. Deval Patrick. Patrick has denied he’s interested — but the job isn’t on offer yet. If it is, President Obama should not select him nor should he be confirmed by the Senate for a plethora of reasons.

What did President Obama do on the evening of 9/11/12 when our men were under attack in Benghazi? The invaluable Andrew McCarthy reminds us that Obama and Secretary Clinton had a 10:00 p.m. phone call of which many (including, I think, Chris Wallace) have lost sight. This morning when Wallace asked Obama aide Dan Pfeiffer what Obama was up to that evening, Pfeiffer declared the line of inquiry “offensive.” Translation: Obama and his minions would prefer to “move on” and are warning the likes of FNC off:(Snip for video)The Weekly Standard’s Daniel Halper has posted the rush transcript

It began in earnest last Friday. A flash mob of latte drinking, tofu eating media that has done its best to quell, rather than fan the flames of truth, turned on one of their own. Jay Carney lay bludgeoned at the base of the podium, a victim of friendly fire. Ironically, the attack was reminiscent of the one in Benghazi he has repeatedly denied the Administration he represents bears any responsibility for. “Changed twelve times?!” came the cries. And with good reason. We were misled; no, lied to.

Treasury Secretary Jack Lew on Friday urged congressional leaders to raise the debt limit and insisted that the White House is not going to negotiate over the increase because lawmakers have "no choice." "We will not negotiate over the debt limit," Lew wrote. "The creditworthiness of the United States is non-negotiable. The question of whether the country must pay obligations it has already incurred is not open to debate." Lew said that while President Obama is willing to discuss plans to reduce the nation´s deficit with Congress, those talks must be kept separate from any effort to raise the nation´s debt cap.
