He betrayed us on two fronts

Mother always said the bigger they are, the harder they fall. If ever there was any doubt, the stunning case of CIA boss David Petraeus dispels it. The most important and celebrated military leader of our time has fallen from the sky with a thud that is shaking all of Washington. His personal life and career are in tatters, but that is not the whole story. Not by a long shot. Petraeus, once talked about as presidential timber, played a big part in the administration’s misleading narrative surrounding the murder of four Americans in Benghazi, Libya.

Well, first you had the Petraeus the left hated while he was under Bush to the beloved Petraeus now that he worked under Obama. The left would love to slam Petraeus for being a hypocrite on family value but since he worked for Obama, that´s out the window. The thing is,the average person know very little about him except for some well crafted headlines here and there,no different than Obama getting kudos for making a hollow appearance after Sandy.

I´m not even sure if Petraeus deserves credit for the surge. I think General Keane was the real mastermind behind it.

That´s his wife? Looks like his mum.

No wonder he played away.

Im not sure why his having an affair should be an issue? Wasn´t it sex between consenting adults after all? At least thats been the democrat position since before Clinton became president. Why should we care?

OR..........is this suddenly as issue so that Petraeus can be discredited before he testifies? Suddenly, America should NOT believe what a cheater says....Unless its coming from a Clinton or Kennedy.

None of this would affect his chances for the presidency, so long as he runs as a Democrat...

The biggest heroes of the Democratic Party have and are having many affairs. All Kennedy men and Bill Clinton among thousands. On the left it is a lifestyle choice, vote getter and badge of honor. Why is it a problem for General Petraeus?

David Axelrods favorite opponent killer is anything having to do with sex. If I were POTUS and wanted to burn the Constitution, then rub the ashes in the face of the American People, I would want someone like David Petraeus OUT OF THE WAY!

From the script department: If it´s a Republican it´s a a story of betrayal. If It´s a Democrat it´s a story of redemption. Got it?

Reply 7 - Posted by: pinger, 11/11/2012 9:48:32 AM     (No. 9006869)

Even under the current circumstances, Petraeus is more presidential timber than the current twig that is preparing to sully the White House for another four years. Did "Mr. Get A Lewinsky Under His Desk In The Oval Office" get questioned about his presidential timber?

Petraeus was a recognized American hero but he started drinking the Øbama koolaid and look what happened? Everything Øbama touches turns to rubbish. I am wondering if alcohol played any part in Petraeus´ downfall? Once important people in high places start drinking their integrity seems to fall apart. One thing I really liked about Romney was he was not a drinker of alcohol. That says a lot in todays world.

Comments like reply #2 simply reinforce the old joke: Why does the average man prefer beauty to brains? Because the average man can see better than he can think.

Fortunately the moral man is above average.

Being an Army mom and living in an Army town, I have heard dozens of Holly Petraeus stories from military families she has personally touched. In recent years she has worked to protect military families from financial fraud through Military Better Business Bureau initiatives and fighting other finance fraud schemes against military families. She’s been a blessing to the General and to the Military. If, at 60, she’s not runway ready, that has little effect on her value as a woman… if you’re a real man.

Tyranny around the corner -- Team Obama
trashes Constitution to pursue opponents
Fox News, by Judge Andrew P. Napolitano    Original Article

A few weeks ago, President Obama advised graduates at Ohio State University that they need not listen to voices warning about tyranny around the corner, because we have self-government in America. He argued that self-government is in and of itself an adequate safeguard against tyranny, because voters can be counted upon to elect democrats (lowercase “d”) not tyrants. His argument defies logic and 20th-century history. It reveals an ignorance of the tyranny of the majority, which believes it can write any law, regulate any behavior, alter any procedure and tax any event so long as it can get away with it.

What Is True Conservatism?

In a recent column, Michael Gerson wrote about modern conservatism’s “two distinct architectural styles.” One approach within conservatism, he said, celebrates those who seek to apply abstract principles in their purest form. The alternative approach is more disposed toward compromise, incremental progress and taking into account shifting circumstances. What’s worth noting, I think, is that many of those in the first camp consider themselves to be more principled and authentically conservative than those in the second, who are often derided as RINOs and “squishes,” as part of the much-derided “establishment” and who go along to get along.

House-Senate showdown

If there were an organized opposition to comprehensive immigration reform -- and there really isn´t, compared to the political/business/activist/lobbying complex in favor of it -- the opposition would pound daily on the key weakness at the heart of the Senate Gang of Eight bill. That weakness is simple. The bill proposes to legalize 11 million currently illegal immigrants before imposing greater border security and workplace enforcement. In that, the gang´s priorities are different from the American people´s. An opposition would remind the public of that, often. Many polls have shown that voters favor eventual legalization and a pathway to citizenship

President Obama called today for a renewed effort to close the prison at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba. But back in 2009, the White House dropped the ball on closing the controversial military prison by failing to come up with a plan in time, refusing to help House Democrats who were fighting for its closure, and then abandoning the plan altogether and blaming Republicans. In a speech at the National Defense University in Washington, Obama said his Jan. 21, 2009, executive order to close the prison was never implemented because House Republicans placed funding and legislative restrictions on moving

American tourists dining on a glacier in eastern Iceland found themselves floating away from shore on an iceberg earlier this week, an Icelandic newspaper reported. Four people were rescued from Fjallsárlón glacial lagoon. They had set up a table and chairs with plans for dinner when a gust of wind pushed the ice from the land. They were stranded about 30 feet from shore. One of the diners managed to jump to shore before the ice drifted too far and call for help. The tourists have not been identified, but a photo captured three of the diners

Walter Russell Mead outlines two possible futures for middle-class Americans: one where most of us lose “the race against the machine,”the other where smart government policies enable an eventual successful transition to an economy where IT and robots do a shockingly large percentage of the jobs humans do today — but the carbon-based life forms still have plenty of meaningful work to do. Mead calls that first scenario, “Bladerunner with food stamps.” Mead: It’s likely that an information age welfare state would consist of two components: straight out welfare and “social inclusion” payments for some,

Conservative radio host Mark Levin is very skeptical of the idea that President Obama had absolutely no idea about the IRS tea party targeting before the story broke in the news mere weeks ago. Levin declared adamantly that it is a “flat-out, bald-faced lie” that Obama didn’t know beforehand, citing prior reports by a few conservative news outlets picking up on the news well before the 2012 presidential election. Levin said, “I don’t believe for two seconds that Obama wasn’t aware of this.”

President Obama on Thursday nominated Victoria Nuland, a State Department official involved in the editing of the administration´s talking points on Benghazi, to be the next assistant secretary of state for European and Eurasian affairs. Nuland, a career foreign service officer who was until recently State´s top spokesperson, had long been expected to be nominated the post to replace Philip Gordon, who Obama picked to serve as Middle East coordinator for the National Security Council. Nuland´s nomination -- which requires Senate confirmation -- could come under scrutiny from Republicans who see her as playing a central role in shaping

What´s so interesting about 60 tea partiers protesting the IRS in San Jose, California on Tuesday, May 21st? The fact that this bit of information was conveyed to the protesters by a Department of Homeland Security officer who was also in attendance. What was a DHS agent doing at the San Jose Tea Party protest? (snip) they weren´t just spying on us in San Jose and monitoring us in San Francisco, they were watching us throughout the entire state

Anthony Weiner’s New York mayoral candidacy was only made more improbable today after he revealed that he visited a Houston psychiatric facility following his resignation from Congress in 2011. Haunted by scandal surrounding his sexually explicit online communications with women, the Democratic former congressman sought treatment for his compulsive behavior from mental health professionals at the Gabbard Center. According to its website, the facility provides “3-day outpatient psychiatric evaluation,” particularly to “professionals who are in personal or professional crises.” While Weiner did not disclose

MARK LEVIN: So why didn´t Chairman Issa hold an investigative hearing a year ago? Why didn´t Chairman Camp, all Republicans, hold an investigative hearing a year ago, and all the other tripping over themselves right now? I´ll tell you why. Because the establishment Republicans, the RINO Republicans, despise the Tea Party. They despise the conservative movement. We exist to be managed, to be shuttled to the polling place, to vote for their candidates. The Karl Roves of the world, and all the rest of them. They fight us in the primaries, they fight us at the grassroots.

Fox News chief Roger Ailes has sent a memo to his subordinates at the leading cable news network. He sent this memo to his staff today in connection with the federal investigation into an alleged leak to Fox News reporter James Rosen, a story that the Washington Post’s Ann E. Marimow broke earlier this week. The memo’s a masterpiece, too. For all those who wonder what it is about Ailes that endears his people to him — and that makes him such a good interviewee for any media reporter lucky enough to get an audience
