Who Authorized FBI Surveillance
of Gen. Petraeus?

Breitbart Big Government, by Mike Flynn

Original Article

Posted By:JoniTx, 11/10/2012 12:33:22 PM

Even by the standards of the friday afternoon news dump tradition, yesterday´s news that Gen. David Petraeus had resigned from the CIA was a stunner. The most heralded military officer of his generation fell from grace after it was revealed he´d had an affair with his biographer. The affair was discovered earlier this year soon after the FBI began monitoring his email. This raises a very serious question. Who authorized the FBI to monitor the e-mail of the Director of the CIA? The Director of the CIA is one of the central individuals responsible for America´s national security and intelligence.

FTA: "First question: How did that initial email come to light?"

Easy; they were snooping unsecured "freeemail"

"Second question: Who authorized the Bureau to pore over all his email communication?"

Why would the bureau require anyone´s authorization to snoop freemail? That´s what they do...

FTA: ´´Third question: Who were the agents given access to Petraeus´ communications? Presumably, they read a lot of emails that weren´t related to the past affair and likely contained top secret and classified information. What security clearance did these agents have?´´

This is a primary question to ask. Since the Clinton administration, it was obvious that the dRATS never took National security seriously, especially getting proper clearance for staff with access to it. 0bamaNation is no different. It stands to reason that our enemies [and that includes Al Qaeda] have the easy ability to steal our secrets. How else could they claim to shoot down one of our predator drones?

And, let US not forget the point of next week, the looking into of Congress of who leaked intel of Benghazi visit and on who to ´´blame´´ IN OUR GOVERNMENT for the murder of Ambassador Stevens & the three other men.

Can´t wait for the audio/visual of that night to ´´leak´´ next.

Perhaps the FBI should be looking into Senator Menendez from New Jersey.

Isn´t Panetta scheduled to testify before Congress? Remember that Panetta can be a man of integrity when he chooses to do so. He resigned in disgust when the Monica thing because too big for Clinton´s denials to be believed. If he was ordered/pressured/whatever to sit on the Petraeus story until after the election, is he really willing to lie under oath about it? We´ll see.

#ntegrity is a not a sometime thing. You either have it or you don´t. (Sort of like that seinfeld episode where Elaine is hired by Mr. Pitts, and the question was grace.)

Separate from that, it makes sense to me that hillary would have her stubby fat fingers in this petraeus affair.
I suspect she will be appointed by President Zero as CIA director to enhance her resume, for 2016.

SO right about integrity...The only reason Panetta is free to ever disagree with Obama is cuz he is a longtime Democrat hack. Obama won´t hurt him. Petraeus was foolish to ever agree to serve under Obama. He was always disposable as used Kleenex to Obama.

Unless I misunderstand Flynn, he seems to think that this was some official email account. It was a personal Gmail account.

I believe someone noticed that something was going on between Petraeus and Broadwell (that is usually more obvious than the starr-eyed smitten believe) and the word went up the line, hence the FBI look at his personal email account.

Reply 15 - Posted by: Spidey, 11/10/2012 3:06:56 PM     (No. 9005544)

This is what I was wondering this morning. remember how 911 happened because the CIA and FBI couldn´t share info because of the Gorelick memo?

Obama had to know about the affair and probably transferred General to CIA to break the parties up.

But the whole idea of internal spying is very disconcerting. These people have eyeballs on everybody, especially through your internet travels with Google and facebook.

There´s been quite a few things recently that the left wing privacy nuts have ignored after hammering Bush over his phone call intercepts. They couldn´t care less that Obamas doing the same thing.

Our brand of Fascism will be no different than the historical ones, now that Obama has free reign over the country.

From another posted article:

The beginning of the end came for CIA Director David Petraeus when Paula Broadwell, a younger married woman with whom he was having an affair, “or someone close to her had sought access to his email,” according to the Wall Street Journal’s description of an FBI probe. Associates of Petraeus had received “anonymous harassing emails” that were then traced to Broadwell, ABC’s Martha Raddatz reported, suggesting she may have found their names or addresses in his e-mail.

The FBI is officially responsible for counterintelligence operations inside the USA. Any person holding the position of Director, CIA is naturally a target of foreign intelligence agencies. When such targeting does occur, it is the job of the FBI to know that is occurring. If the FBI were not looking all the time, they would never know until it was too late.

Reply 22 - Posted by: schach, 11/10/2012 11:35:13 PM     (No. 9006318)

highly doubtful that classified information was transmitted between Petraeus and Broadwell, whether their chats were conducted over personal gmail or normal official email. secure (classified) communications are conducted over secure servers, will both/all parties requiring appropriate clearances and need-to-know.

The finger pointing went round and round on Benghazi and finally stopped on the CIA.

Known as the City of the Century, it was once the centre of the country´s booming steel industry. But now Gary, Indiana, lies in ruins as a tragic example of American industrial decline. Authorities are desperately looking at new ways to combat the city´s crippling recession - one possiblity could be halving its size. Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson believes letting vast expanses of the city, founded in 1906 by the US Steel Corporation, return to nature might be a solution. ´I’d like to see 100,000 folks in Gary. That’d be great,´ the mayor said reported NBC News.

News reports from the final debate between Democrat Ed Markey and Republican Gabriel Gomez conclude that Gomez, a first-time candidate and self-styled "new kind of Republican," delivered a strong performance. With just days left in the campaign before the June 25 special election for Senate, Gomez has trailed Markey, a 37-year veteran of the House, in every single poll. Markey currently leads by average of more than 9 points. But in the debate Tuesday night, Gomez hit Markey hard on the Democrat´s long Washington tenure, a running theme in the Republican´s campaign. The Obama administration has reportedly tried to enlist the NBA in helping it sell Obamacare to the American people. It’s unclear whether a potential marketing partnership would put big-name players at the center of ad campaigns or if it would be as simple as putting the NBA trademark on marketing materials, Politico first reported today. People can begin signing up for Obamacare in October, with the new insurance coverage kicking in next year. Many have speculated that the enrollment campaigns would benefit from a celebrity endorsement or partnership with a major sports league.

Guides have dropped "God" from their Girl Guides´ Promise. In a multicultural and individualist age, the thinking goes, the movement should pledge "to be true to myself and develop my beliefs". None of that guff about God and country. It´s now all about "Me" and the anything goes spirituality. Hindu, Druid, New Ager, Muslim, Christian: everything´s the same these days. We´ve seen it elsewhere. Druids and Christians are accorded equal rights in the workplace: when a Druid employee, say, wants time off to go to Stonehenge for the Solstice, the boss must treat her the same

It was a more muted affair for President Obama in Berlin today as he spoke at Berlin´s iconic Brandenburg Gate before an invite-only crowd of 6,000 guests - a remarkable difference from the rock-star welcome he received five years ago in front of 200,000 cheering supporters. Then, Obama had it all to play for - the glowing presidential candidate symbolizing America´s revived hope for the future. This time, he arrived back in Berlin under the cloud of NSA surveillance programs which have outraged many Europeans and the ever-growing crisis in Syria. President Barack Obama followed in the footsteps of past U.S. leaders with a speech Wednesday at Berlin´s iconic Brandenburg Gate, where he said he would ask Russia to join the United States in slashing its supply of strategic nuclear warheads. "I intend to seek negotiated cuts with Russia to move beyond Cold War nuclear postures," Obama said in the city that symbolized the East-West divide in the decades after World War II. Repeating his campaign themes of equal opportunity and freedom for all, Obama said such ideals can provide the prosperity sought by all nations -- especially longtime allies

SANFORD, Fla.--The family of slain Florida teen Trayvon Martin has "every confidence" that a jury will convict George Zimmerman, the former neighborhood watch captain accused in his shooting death, a family attorney said. Martin´s family, including his mother Sybrina Fulton and father Tracy Martin, have attended jury selection proceedings in the Seminole County criminal courthouse since they launched more than a week ago. Attorneys in the case have been whittling down a pool of potential jurors, questioning them on their exposure to news reports in the high-profile case.

A group of whistleblowers, including a number of aviation experts, have come forward in a new documentary to claim that the official explanation for the crash of TWA Flight 800 was wrong and a gas tank explosion did not bring down the flight off the coast of Long Island 17 years ago. However, the six whistleblowers, all part of the original investigation team, stopped short of saying the plane was shot down. Flight 800, a Boeing 747, had just taken off from JFK airport with 230 people aboard on July 17, 1996 enroute to Paris when it exploded

An attorney whose firm represents two Benghazi whistleblowers said Gen. They were needed in Benghazi,” said DiGenova, a former U.S. attorney, now with the Washington firm of DiGenova & Toensing.

Amid a steady rise of backlash, Edward Snowden, the 29-year-old former National Security Agency contractor who was the source of a spring of leaks about the agency´s surveillance methods, conducted a live chat on The Guardian´s website Monday morning. Judging from some of the pointed questions he´s been asked and the reaction to newly leaked revelations over the past few days, it´s clear that much of the sympathy and support Snowden had built up for his early exposures is eroding. Many Americans supported his decision to leak information about a pair of National Security Agency surveillance programs, which, he detailed, gathered information

Charlie Rose last night asked President Obama his new Syria policy. The president first objected to it being called a new policy. "I´m not sure you can characterize this as a new policy. This is consistent with the policy that I´ve had throughout," he said. Obama then explained the goal is regional stability, and especially in Syria. "Really, what we´re trying to do is take sides against extremists of all sorts and in favor of people who are in favor of moderation, tolerance, representative government, and over the long-term, stability and prosperity for the people of Syria," said Obama.
