After months of regulatory delays, the floodgates have apparently opened. The Health and Human Services Department delivered two major health reform rules to the Office of Management and Budget on Friday, the first in an anticipated stream of health regulation. Many sources close to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services told National Journal that the administration had a number of important health rules ready to go but was holding them back until after the election to avoid a political backlash. Now that President Obama has been reelected, they predicted those rules would start emerging, and fast.
Comments: The regime sure isn't wasting any time. I think we will be seeing the words "the administration had a number of important (fill in the blank) ready to go but was holding them back until after the election to avoid a political backlash." I think we will be stunned at the speed with which they start bombarding us with rules and regulations from every agency. I'm sick to my stomach.
I am wondering when seniors get those increases next year, if there won´t be a major outcry from them making some of these dims senators think twice about repealing it. There certainly will be a backlash to AARP!
#2...I hope you weren´t one of the thousands of gullible people who believed the hoax that the Part B is going up to $247. Oh yes, one lady was so gullible she forwarded it from her office and thus it went out with the Blue Cross/Blue Shield logo on it. Now it has credibility so it must be true. Right?
People are so gullible they get this crap in email and just have to burden their friends and family with this crap, simply because someone put in big RED or BLUE letters to "send it to everyone you know".
Oh my, the Congress Critters "don´t pay Social Security". Oh my, Congress Critters "get fat pensions after one term in office." Oh my Congress Critters "get massive amounts of money for a lifetime." Guess what? They are all lies for the gullible and ignorant to believe. Don´t forget the items because some famous person said so. No they didn´t. "Oh gee this may not be true but I´ll pass it on just in case". Geeesh.
STOP IT. Stop being gullible. Check those items factually BEFORE you pass them on. If you insist on forwarding stuff, then please remove me from your mailing list.
Sorry this is a personal medical story. I am so filled with despair over the election results that when I was at the dr. office I mentioned to the med. tech that I was incredibly worried about Obamacare and the future. She assured me that everything would be just fine. That we would have no problem surviving Obamacare and 4 more years of the Obama regime.
Well every fear inside me unleashed, including that the commander in chief is a Marxist. Heated words were exchanged. Let´s just end by saying that I´m glad she was not taking my b.p.
WHY hasn´t anyone filed an "equal protection" class action suit? Obama handed out thousands of waivers and that is illegal. We are all supposed to be EQUAL. This is a matter of life and death to thousands of us.
Don´t get mad , get even ? . About the closest I can get to that is may all the freeloaders who thot they´d vote themselves freebies get incurable Scabies . Oh , and like me , the doc who said I didn´t have them , just put on some baby lotion .
This is just the start of it. The completion of the transformation will come swiftly and without concern. For those who claimed they couldn´t get comfortable with Romney and did not vote....thanks for nothing.
It doesn´t matter how many people become mad or upset, Obama simply doesn´t care and there nothing that can be done about it. You certainly can´t seriously believe those inept, jelly spines Republicans do anything. Until the opposition becomes as tough and ruthless as the left this will never end. More whiny babble on blogs and by pundits is useless.
Judging from the Florida vote, millions of seniors voted for the kenyan fraud. Now the price will be paid for their stupidity. You can´t blame this whole mess on naive college kids. Obama is sitting in the catbird seat and nothing legal can be done about it.
All those takers who voted Obama back into office are in the same no-doctor-available boat as the makers. They should have been more careful about what they wished for. That free ObamaPhone won’t look so good when you can’t get needed care.
With 30 million more people added to the Obamacare plan, no new doctors, a and tsunami of doctor retirements, all built into the grand scheme, we are set for medical carnage in 2013.
As a senior -- I´m not surprised. WE knew that S O B would stick it to seniors with his O B C (obamacareless)...
Michelle Baughman told US that he was taking 700B away from the seniors and giving it to O B C....
WE fought the good fight and lost to people (citizens and illegals) who want "free stuff"....
Sooooooooo -- my premiums will go up. How much I don´t know. My husband and I pay $900 a month now with medicare (yes WE do pay something for medicare) and our suplimental and our drug program....
I survived Hitler and I´ll survive this jackal and his chicago thugs. WE are the generation that fought WWII and WON. Of course WE didn´t have the Washington DC elite to deal with then -- but -- as long as WE live -- WE´ll fight back.
Seniors have been voting for FDR and HST and JFK and LBJ and any other SOB including BHO that promised them something for nothing for a long time
Well the left has finally turned me into what they accused me of being. I am now a card carrying member of the "Heartless Republican Club"
The elderly are as bad as the welfare queens. They paid almost nothing into Social Security and have gotten multiple times their investment. I hope none of them can afford their medications from now on. The sooner they die the sooner the US can be fixed. Until then maybe they try out the various flavors of dry cat food for lunch as that is what they´ve doomed their grand children to to eating they should develop a taste for it too.
I´ll take care of my parents. Everyone else can rot in a dirty old-folks home for all I care
I have no choices. As of yesterday I had to opt out of my worker´s health plan. On Jan. 1 my contribution doubled to $800. But then I found out that the teachers who took out the same plan now have to actually fork over 4 cents a paycheck. The people who make twice as much and more than me pay 4 cents. That´s .04/$800 you do the math. Thanks teachers union. While I don´t have a problem with them getting a better deal this goes beyond a better deal. If it is going to get bad it will get bad quickly but will the idiots who voted this piece of slime into office even notice it?
Had the greedy senior class only voted with their heads, we could have easily thrown this usurper and his ilk out. With their help, there are still enough of "us" to overcome the illegal and dead votes counted at every election. But their "where´s mine at any cost" attitude votes with greed and ignorance every time.
I have been beside myself over this Marxist Slime´s re- election for days. My own Mother, God bless her, thinks I am ´over-doing it and nothing bad will really happen´. She will be in the very first group screwed over by these people. I am not looking forward to her realization of this. Beyond sad.
What happens when you move from a state that has a health exchange to one that doesn´t? Or vice versa? Who is going to keep track of all these regs for compliance? And will they really enforce the law if an ObamaLover doesn´t comply?
Did you hear the one about under obamacare regulation on Neurologists ? if a sr. of 70 or more comes in with a brain bleed they are not allowed to save them even if it could prolong their lives indefinitely. they must just make them comfortable. Stock up on aspirin now that may be your best health insurance plan.
I like many others are inconsolable about this election. I feel such dread and darkness coming. We don´t even have an opposition party any longer with that A-hole Boehner saying it is not his job to stop Obamacare. The most liberty killing, government grabbing legislation EVER to be put to paper in the history of this Republic and this guy says it´s not his job to stop it? If not the Republicans, who? While we the people had a lot of power in the past, with no opposition party, with a press that is as corrupt as the most corrupt politicians and with the communists in control of the so-called education system, I really see that we are at an end of this glorious and wonderful Republic. Please someone tell me it is not the case. Lucianne and LDotters our country´s saviors. Sorry for the pessimism this morning. But, this Obamacare just puts me over the top.
#22, #25 I know how frustrated and angry you are but blaming the seniors, I fear, is just buying into the Won´s divisional stategy. I am a senior who is still working and not on the gov. dole. I, along with millions of seniors and their employers, have paid into the the system. I do not want to leave a legacy of debt to my children and grandchildren. I will not play the blame game but will get back to work to take back my country. And, by the way, I and my husband are in the somwhere just above poverty, so could use the gov help but will keep our integrity and just keep trucking along. No Christmas cards and very few gifts to be given this year.
It´s a "them" vs "us" country. Hate to maybe break it to some, but those who voted for Obama are part of the "us", (unless you´re already part of the government industrial complex). The governing (ruling) side won, the private sector side lost. To the victor go the spoils... and #18 I think is right, they don´t care about you at all, not one bit. They don´t know who you are, could care less about you, and will take what they want from you when they want. I hope the Obama voters realize it too. Unless they´re already on the inside, they´re going to be swept up in this as well. Too bad... Yeah, keep supporting those enslaving you (AARP anyone?), they´re laughing all the way to the bank.
I´m a retired coal miner. I recieve a small portion of my retirement income from EXXON and the majority from Peabody Coal and Social Security. I also have my insurance through Peabody for the portion not covered by Medicare. I have to wonder how long I can rely on recieving the benefits I worked for from companies Obama is determined to destroy.
Elections have consequences, you reap what you sow, etc, etc. Those who voted for Santa are about to find that Santa comes at a steep cost. My ears will be deaf to their cries of anguish. They were warned.
Obama voters who lose their jobs just become Obama voters dependent on government benefits.
I don´t think those who now rule this once free country give a rat´s ass about seniors....other than hastening their exit off this planet to help offset Obama´s wild spending. Seniors are sitting ducks and many were just too gullible to realize it - and too late now. The party is over.
I think most people pay no attention. They get snipets from local TV then they are off to American Idol and The View. Another problem is that there was no campaign outside the battleground states. I live in Texas and saw not one ad on TV!
I have read various comments here and just wish to my 10 cents about one specific point. The Medicare Advantage programs that folks on Medicare are under, which replaces Medicare Parts A and B, and which costs a nominal fee, will be decimated and or eliminated under Obamacare. At that point, a person on Medicare Advantage will now be left with only Medicare. If they wish to supplement that program, they have to sign up for a supplemental program, which costs far more than the amount they paid while on the Advantage program. How could so many Seniors NOT UNDERSTAND THAT and still vote for Obama. I am speaking particularly about the State of Florida. A Hispanic Senator, loss of Medicare Advantage, Many Jewish folks in the population, and still, I believe, a State that voted a person back into power who is going to take all those benefits from them. It is incomprehensible to me that so many people either were so deluded, or so disloyal, or just so uninformed to vote as they did. Frankly, it is beyond understanding. And to top it off, A Governor whose background is in Health Care ( HCA ). That is why I feel people, like me, are so upset. Nothing was rational about this election. Lastly, watching coal miners being interviewed on Tv stating they were going to vote for Obama, and KNOWING he was attempting to destroy their industry and force them out of their jobs. This is an alternative Universe we are in.
I´ve been saying that the Republicans have one more chance in the 2014 midterm election. Within the next few months when everyone, especially seniors, come to the realization of what they´ve done, every Democrat will be toast. We will end up with an almost total majority in both houses. The Dem´s have no where to run and they will be unable to excuse their way out. We need to stop as much as we can in the House until that time. I believe the electorate will support every effort out of anger. The shame is that there were still seniors that voted for this fraud and the rest of the dumbed population didn´t care - free stuff. He also may not make it through 4 years, Benghazi impeachment anyone.
I´m sorry, they may have saved the world, and in the process, their own rears, but the Greediest Generation bankrupted this country! However, in their defense, many people, over the years, have fallen for Ponzi schemes.
Wow #22, 25. YOu sound just like obama´s death panels. Kill all the seniors, they are just a burden on society, they don´t carry their weight and contribute anything. After paying into Social Security (unwillingly) all of our working lives, it gives us enough to get thru the month. We both draw our military pensions, but we still are not that far above the poverty level, and after all this hits, we will be much closer to it. We have never taken gov´t assistance, and we still work to make ends meet. To paint all seniors with one broad brush is unfair to say the least. And one day, you too will be a senior. You may revise your heart at that point. Who knows? I will pray for you and your anger towards the seasoned citizens of this once great land.
There were many reasons Romney lost, one being many conservatives staying home because they "would not vote for a moderate." I thought Romney admirably dispelled that in the campaign, but maybe I was the only one listening. So, let me get this straight, all who stayed home knew what Obama would do and were fine with it. The "purity" conservatives insist upon has condemned our nation to oblivion, thank you very much. Dems have no such scruples, they will always vote as a unified bloc no matter what the issues are. "Conservatives" are SO STUPID up to the point of selling our nation up the river.
Hey Florida seniors and especially JEWISH Florida seniors, go suck on it and enjoy what the majority you voted for is doing.
AARP, how are you liking it now? Why don´t you send your members some phony card that doesn´t do anything? Make sure you are VERY clear to them the VALUE they are getting taking more money away from them, especially on a fixed income.
I guess you can always eBay your vintage China and whatever else you were going to leave your grandkids.
A most disturbing thread. Take hold of yourselves, people!
Remember who the enemies are. They are not your parents and grandparents. Remember the 5th Commandment. It´s there for a reason.
Remember that many of the seniors you now trash won WWII (the older ones), gave you Goldwater and Reagan (boomers like me), and the Tea Party (both). Many are conservatives, and have always been. Only a relative few participated in Woodstock and the anti-Vietnam movement.
Get your heads screwed on straight. It´s your future that is at stake.
One more thing, let´s stop with the "conservatives stayed home so we lost". What BS manufactured by the liberals. Look at the ELECTORAL COLLEGE votes. How many people, and how could it be proven, "stayed home" because they don´t like Romney. I´ll be generous. Do you think a few thousand people here and there in a handful of areas would have made a difference?
Jesus Christ could have run, and he would have been pilloried as being "too into the God thing", "an anti-abortion zealot" and a "creep" who "didn´t connect well with women".
Please folks, don´t be as stupid as the liberals paint us to be. Wise up. We lost because of pandering to blacks, latinos, idiot women, and a cheerleading and lying press, and most importantly, solid enclaves of liberals in large electoral count areas.
#50, most seniors from the "greatest generation" are dead now. All my uncles who fought in WWII are dead. This country started to go downhill in the 1960s, with the acceptance of drugs and other ills of morality. The school systems began their decline in the 70s.
If you were 20 in 1965 you are in your 70s now.
People keep thinking that seniors are their beloved grandparents for the WWII and Great Depression eras. Most of those people are gone now.
The seniors didn´t give us the Tea Party. Most events I have been to were people in their 40s and 50s.
I am not bashing seniors, but let´s not put them on a pedestal either. That group is just as at-fault as any other group. Now they can live with the consequences. Fortunately, my sisters and I have enough bucks to help my parents if they need it. The rest can, like I said, sell their china.
It won´t just be the seniors. The 30 hour a week threshold for part time works is going to kill those working in two huge sources of jobs for those trendy urban singles who so love Obama- the hospitality industry and temp agencies.
The cutbacks to part time status are just beginning. 30 hours is a particularly difficult threshold. The loss of 10 hours a week strips you of most discretionary income but it´s hard to work two 30 hour a week jobs week in and week out. Also a lot of the places that employ temps to work IT projects prohibit one from worker for simultaneously working for someone else in the same industry.
The 20 something son of an old friend has already been reduced to part time status. Free health care is about to become very expensive for these people.
Lay off the seniors. I worked till I was almost 74. I have a friend who is still working at age 77. We will eventually all die off but the welfare moms and their offspring will go on forever. How about some complaints about them?
Above poster was lucky to be able to work that long. My first age related layoff happened when I was in my mid-40´s. And after each one, there were fewer and fewer jobs available for us ´oldies.´
Amen on the welfare moms. I have a great niece who is as slutty as they come, she of course voted or Obama and is more than pleased to be the recipient of all the goodies offered by Uncle Sugar for her and her two ilegitimate kids and her never ending string of boyfriends. And she´s just one of legion.
Expectedly, most of the follow-up posts simultaneously both miss and make my previous point.
Nobody is claiming you didn´t work, contribute, serve, struggle, suffer, or aren´t patriotic.
But to claim you´ve "paid your fair share" and were forced to pay all these years is incorrect and also discounts the vastly higher amounts that we younger (and I´m 56) continue to pay to support you. You may have paid what was asked, but it was never enough to provide the benefits you´ve voted for. How many of you will reasearch the numbers?
Only the evil rich wage earners have or will have paid their "fair share" into Medicare given that program´s current path to bankruptcy. The average retiree receives benefits something on the order of 3 times their amounts withheld.
Social Security you´ve received, especially if you´ve been retired for more than a few years, is likely to be far more than any real-world return would have yielded from invested dollars and they continue to be increaded with no further financial commitment from you.
Over the years, the majority of seniors, either uninformed, misinformed, blatantly ignorant or yes, greedy, simply reject any sensible reforms...most of which would not even apply to them...and will vote or have voted accordingly. There are strength in numbers, even when you´re wrong. The left knows this and successfully exploits it with the seniors every election.
I find few my age or younger who don´t recognize these troubles or who aren´t in favor of reforms that they, and not even the current recipients, will experience.
The country is headed for financial collapse because of the unsustainability of these social programs. They remain the best investments you´ve never made.
Cupcake, I never said I wasn´t laid off or fired because of my age--I have had to take jobs way below my capabilities just to make ends meet. Don´t go attaching labels to people you don´t even know. All I´m saying is, I paid and now I am collecting just like any other investment. I did not pay in so PeggySue and her children could go on SSI for the rest of her life. If Social Security was not going to pay out--they should never have taken my money--I could have gotten a better return on my money.
And all the "nasties" on this thread wonder why people don´t vote Republican?? You should hear yourselves! Grumpy, greedy, complainers all. Reminds me of the ´name calling´ Liberals with not much more sense. I wouldn´t vote for any of you either!
If any of these things come true that you believe ´will´ then write letters to the editor, but till then they are just internet stories, left and right.
I don´t know what #5 is talking about. I´m 66, and the way it works is that when you turn 65 you are funneled into Medicare, you have no choice. I also carry Blue Shield and pay a monthly premium for it because I wasn´t sure how Medicare would work out.
This summer I had an accident which required surgery and a lot of follow-up care. Nearly all of it was covered by Medicare and a small amount by Blue Shield. I received top-notch medical care overall and I thank our medical system. However I´m very worried how Obamacare will change the care we get, and Medicare being broke, etc.
Already my doctor doesn´t take anymore Medicare patients, because he is paid very low for them. I have read that thousands of doctors will retire, they don´t want to work for the government and be told what to do. It´s all very scary to me.
I have kept very well informed regarding Medicare, healthcare, and 0care. Just moved, and volunteering at local civic organization. (Trying not to be too obvious) They had a speaker from a conservative free-market think tank, who spoke on 0care. He gave an excellent summary of major parts of the piece of bull excrement, and the members were SHOCKED. Asked questions that showed they knew nothing, and just realized they had been impaled by a male organ. If not so achingly sad, I would have laughed out loud. Had a word with the speaker afterwards, told him how much I appreciated his info, and joined the think tank. Whatever.........
As a senior, I don´t know if I should be more afraid of Zippycare or the posters today. Most days you confest to be Christians.
As a self employed person I paid double taxes and paid over a $1000 a month for insurance. If you worked for somebody else and had paid benefits, I´m happy for you however clueless you may be about the real world.
I guess these freebirds that voted for Bronco Bama don´t think they will get old someday. Forever young, they believe. Boy, will they be surprised. Due to the free abortions and birth control that we were forced to pay for, they will have aborted the next generation and there will be no one left to cover their expenses for them. They won´t even be able to move in with their children because they won´t have any. It gives me a little compensation, I guess, knowing they have messed in their own nest.
I work at a company where the average age is 58 yrs. old. People don´t retire, we just die off. There are a few younger ones, but the layoffs start with them. We all joke that we are financial hostages and will continue to work while dragging our IV poles to work with us. The owner comes to work every day. He is 88 yrs. old.
This is making me very sad. This is what socialism does. It turns us on one another because you realize...everyone is out for themselves and so I need to look out for me and mine so screw you! This is not the way we should he reacting. We need to band together...start communities with actual values...stop spreading out so far across the map and decide on states we can invade and actually make a difference in the electoral map. Our ground game sucks and we need to get better. This is life and death. I´m angry too but pointing fingers at each other is only going to make it worse. We need to form conservative places of refuge for times of crisis with laws like "if a man won´t work he won´t eat." And learn to survive outside the government until we can rebuild. Man up people. Liberty is under attack. This ain´t a drill. This is it boys so what are u going to do? Fight with eachother or form a more perfect union. ? Our forefathers didn´t pledget their honor or their fortunes for this. And I don´t intend to watch what they built get destroyed without resistance.
President Obama on Wednesday compared the challenges of health care reform to the civil rights movement as he urged young people to do “whatever they can” to help boost enrollment in Obamacare. In an address to a youth summit hosted at the White House, Obama urged young supporters to not get “discouraged” amid the health care law´s rocky rollout and with polls showing declining support for the president´s signature achievement. “Stuff that´s worth it is always hard. The civil rights movement was hard. Getting women the right to vote, that was hard. Making sure that workers had the right to
White House chief of staff Denis McDonough held an unpublicized meeting with Sen. Michael Bennet (Colo.), chairman of the Senate Democrats’ campaign arm, amid anger and anxiety that ObamaCare’s botched rollout could cost the party its majority next year. In the meeting, requested by the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC), McDonough and Bennet discussed what the White House could do to help vulnerable Senate Democrats and “talked about developing a stronger relationship with the White House,” according to one senior Democratic aide familiar with the conversation. Democratic senators fear the White House is not sympathetic enough to their plight. After the
Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla.) said Wednesday that immigration is an issue that disproportionally affects women. “Immigration is really a woman issue,” Ros-Lehtinen said at Wednesday´s Women Rule Summit in Washington, D.C. “It’s a family centered issue and I think we need to focus it more that way and look at how it impacts domestic violence. … This issue of immigration directly impacts and it’s usually the mom and the kids.” Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) said that women in her state of Minnesota say that “the economy is what they care about the most” and said that “we’re really proud of our Senate
Gunmen have killed a U.S. citizen working at an international school in the Libyan city of Benghazi, medical and security sources said on Thursday. The attackers shot the American man, who was an instructor or teacher at the Benghazi school, while he exercised in the morning, the sources said. No one claimed responsibility for the shooting. The U.S. ambassador to Libya was killed in late 2012 when Islamist militants assaulted the U.S. consulate in Benghazi.
The Department of Health and Human Services has crowned a YouTube video entitled “Forget About The Price Tag” as the grand prize winner in a contest meant to encourage young people to sign up for Obamacare. The video contest, announced in August — in partnership with a group called Young Invincibles — encouraged participants to produce clips filled with pro-Obamacare messaging. HHS’s grand prize-winning video, announced Monday by the White House, features a young woman named Erin McDonald singing an Obamacare-loving version of Jessie J’s hit single, “Price Tag.” Without a hint of irony, McDonald sings her chorus: “Ain’t about
A Texas middle school principal has been placed on paid leave after she banned the speaking of Spanish by students while in class. In Hempstead, a town of about 6,000 about 50 miles northwest of Houston, a school district spokeswoman confirmed that Amy Lacey has been placed on leave pending investigation of her Nov. 12 announcement over the intercom at Hempstead Middle School. More than 50 percent of the school enrollment of about 330 students is Hispanic. KHOU-TV of Houston reports a letter was sent by the district to school parents on December 2 assuring that neither the district nor
Republican lawmakers bashed the Obama administration at a House Judiciary Committee hearing Tuesday for opting not to enforce core parts of the Affordable Care Act, such as minimum requirements for individual healthcare plans. Rep. Trent Franks (Ariz.), the chairman of the Judiciary panel’s Constitution and Civil Justice subcommittee, said Congress should sue the administration to spur Obama to enforce the healthcare law as written. “I think that’s the only choice we have, and that’s not just on ObamaCare, that’s on a host of different things,” Franks told The Hill. “He simply embodies a breathtaking arrogance that ignores the law he’s sworn to
I have never been much of a conspiracy theorist. For me it was always Oswald by himself from the Texas School Book Depository and nothing in the intervening fifty years has disabused me of this notion. For the most part, I’m an Occam’s Razor kind of guy — the most obvious explanation is likely to be true. (Snip) To put it bluntly, Occam’s Razor has moved. Things that were once possibilities now seem almost certainties to me. Principal among those is that Obama’s academic records are perpetually unavailable for a reason — and that reason is most likely that they reveal
One of President Obama´s chief political assets has been his ability to excite young people like almost no politician in history. But the days of America´s youth fawning over the president are over. A new Harvard University Institute of Politics poll released Wednesday confirms what other surveys have shown in recent months: Millennials have soured on Obama so much this year that their opinion of him largely mirrors the American public´s. Even though Obama does not ever have to face another election, he should be worried about the findings for a couple of reasons, which we will dive into momentarily.
President Obama will cast growing income inequality and a decline in economic mobility as a “fundamental threat to the American dream” during a speech Wednesday in Washington. The speech will serve as an early preview for next year’s State of the Union address, according to a White House official, who said Obama would focus much of his energy over the next three years on the issue. “The decisions we make over the next few years will determine whether or not our children will grow up in an America where, if you work hard, you can get ahead,” the official said.
Good stuff from Jonathan Turley at today’s House hearing on executive power, although I regret that I couldn’t find a more user-friendly format for you to watch. There’s no compilation clip; you’ll have to make do with the C-SPAN embed by fast-forwarding to the time cues I give you and being patient while the vid buffers (and buffers, and buffers).(Snip)That brings us to point two: Even if Congress can’t stop Obama, the courts can. The problem there, though, says Turley, is that O and the DOJ have argued successfully in many cases that no one has standing to sue him
During a presentation at the White House in which President Barack Obama touted the benefits of the Affordable Care Act, the president declared that his signature health care reform law was not going to be repealed. This assertion led his administration members, his staff, and audience members to rise from their seats and give the president a standing ovation. Obama said that ACA opponents’ alternative to the health care reform law is to champion repeal and going back to the health care delivery system status quo ante. He specifically cited Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) who he said was asked directly for
A woman has revealed how difficult it is to eat healthily and stay full when living off an average food stamp budget. Melinda Moulton, from Huntington, Vermont, was one of 200 people to take part in the 3Squares Challenge, which saw her living for a week on just $36 worth of food, or around $1.71 a meal. Opting to try and eat as healthily as possible, Ms Moulton resorted to cheap foods like yogurt for breakfast, two handfuls of peanuts for lunch and lentil stew for dinner, all of which left her unsatisfied.´I don´t know how people do it,´ said
[Video] President Obama on Wednesday declared that addressing income inequality would be the focus of “all” of the White House’s efforts “for the rest of my presidency.” In a sweeping address that touched on raising the minimum wage, investing in infrastructure and ending tax breaks for the wealthy, Obama warned that the American economy has become “profoundly unequal,” declaring economic mobility the “challenge of our time.” “The combined trends of increasing inequality and decreasing mobility pose a fundamental threat to the American dream, our way of life, and what we stand for around the globe,” he said in an hour-long
