The Daily Show Interview
With David Petraeus' Biographer
Is Extremely Awkward In Hindsight

Business Insider, by Brett LoGiurato

Slate is reporting that Paula Broadwell, the author of David Petraeus' biography, had an affair with the former CIA director that led to his resignation earlier today. This interview of her on The Daily Show, in hindsight, is cringeworthy. About three and a half minutes into the clip, Jon Stewart and Broadwell discuss Petraeus' habit of running with her to get to know her while she was embedded with him in Afghanistan. "That was the foundation of our relationship," she says. Stewart then asks if other people in his embed "resent [Petraeus'] success" and reputation.

If she seduced him and helped ruin his life to get a story and classified information, she should be prosecuted. I know.He could have said no. But look at them. It would be so difficult for a guy like him to resist a woman like her.

The interview is worth watching. I have two thoughts. One: why do we care that he is having an affair Two: if a man is not capable of resisting a younger attractive woman he does not need to be in let alone leading the CIA

Can we say Ms. Broadwell's attire in the interview was just a little revealing? And the cutaway blouse was sitting off center so that you got to see a good bit of her left pectoral and breast. It actually was a funny interview with Stewart (who's also a runner) trading quips with her and then they had a challenge to raise money for Wounded Warriors.

You know, if he made a pass at her, she's a big enough girl to know how to turn it off. Techniques such as stepping away and saying 'This Is Not A Good Idea' usually work.

Between her and Suzy Creamcheese Wetlaufer (who married Jack Welch after writing about him), female writers are getting a bad reputation. Wonder if Petraeus will marry her like Jack did Suzy.

"All In" is a good book title. Their first choice was "Ball's Deep".

She was in Afghanistan for about a year at the time Petraeus was there. If their affair started there while he was on active duty it was a violation of the UCMJ big time. It was also a big time security breach that a lady was spending personal time with the commanding general and counterintelligence did not find out.

Whatever happened to duty, honor, country?

No doubt the FBI counterintelligence unit and then Obama found out about this affair sometime along the line, and Obama waited until after the election smoke cleared to get rid of Petraeus, who the Obama crew was holding close, up until the election to keep him out of the political arena.

And they couldn´t help but have been noticed in Afghanistan. This stuff cannot be hidden. And she is no the soul of subtlety. Someone noticed. Someone tipped the FBI. The rest will be history.

His scalp on her belt was a heck of a trophy. He paid a big price for it.

What a couple of scum. Wouldn´t matter if they both worked at 7-11.

She has a husband and two small kids.

He has a wife, and, I assume, grown kids.

Nice.

Maybe they can make a porno movie with Octomom and Bill Clinton. You know, a foursome.

Wow--how did he not see that coming? The woman obviously knew she was playing him for her own purposes. If she was trying to hack into his personal email account this is going to be the biggest DC scandal since Monicagate.

Agree #2 and add "let alone not a 4 star general in any man´s army."

She mentioned at one point that Petraeus had suffered a pelvic injury in a parachute accident. Guess thats not a problem for him anymore.

Is there ANYONE in DC who can keep their fly zipped ?

The author is correct: the interview is cringeworthy. This clip is a must see, not just for Broadwell´s slutty look but for the exchange of words.

What an awkward clip to watch! You have to see her body language as she is being interviewed. You can totally tell (in hindsight) that she was banging Petraeus in Afghanistan. And it is totally weird how her cuckolded husband gets involved in the interview with Jon Stewart. She is a total vixen, and she seduced the General. Now granted, if you see Petraeus´s frumpy, lumpy wife you can totally understand why he banged this vixen. The title "All In" was the perfect title for the book! They were going to use "Three Holes and No Weight", but that title has already been copyrighted by Bill Clinton.

I have no sympathy for Petraeus or for this woman. They are both adults, and they both knew what they were doing was wrong.

#12, the slap at Mrs. Petraeus´ appearance was unkind and unnecessary.

Federal investigators apparently accessed records of calls to and from a phone number at Fox News Channel in their leak investigation of a former State Department contractor, according to a court document. The wheels came off the Obama administration yesterday. We learned of a startling assault on freedom of the press by the Department of Justice, following the revelation last week of the unprecedented information-gathering foray by that department against The Associated Press. Then, a few minutes later, the Justice Department’s inspector general released a report declaring that the US attorney in Arizona used the leak of a confidential memo to try to discredit a whistleblower in the notorious “gun-walking” scandal known as Fast and Furious (which got two federal agents killed). The leak was called “egregious.”

Former Democratic National committee chairman Howard Dean considers the controversy over Benghazi a “joke” and “silly.” “Benghazi is a laughable joke,” Dean proclaimed twice in a discussion with Republican National Committee communications chairman Sean Spicer last week. “With all due respect, governor, when four Americans die serving this country, that’s not a joke, sir,” Spicer responded. “Oh, stop it,” said Dean. The former Democratic presidential candidate also said that there were “no serious questions being asked about Benghazi” and brushed it off as an effort by Republicans to score political points.
