| LOS ANGELES – Now that the election is finally over, our long national nightmare can finally begin again. President Obama will implore us to "come together." In theory this soundbyte has heretofor meant that conservatives should shut up, abandon their principles, and agree with him. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid claimes that he wants to be "conciliatory" while in the same breath threatening to reduce the filibuster as a tool for the minority to prevent mob rule. The filibuster has existed since the Founding Fathers, and Mr. Reid may wish to think

Comments: This is one of the few articles I have read that made me feel better after this disastrous election. Now if only the Republicans follow his advice. They have absolutely nothing to lose. It is excellent!!

A must read! He is so right about forcing Obama to make the difficult choices..He won't lead, he's not a leader...show the half of our country that we still do have a say in this..and we will not cave in to him!

We got a better chance of Alice in Wonderland becoming a reality before anything in this article does. Face it. Rebublicans do what rebublicans do. The bubble things up. Usually playing nice. And they will continue until a real leader (Reagan who forced socialist to back down) emerge.

A very good read. But, I don't think the GOP lawmakers(most of them) will read and abide by them. It's gonna be a very long and hellish 4 years.

While I second Eric's emotions, it won't work. There is no way to stop what is coming. Read some of the other threads today. It's already happening. The Democrats only want political cover. Boehner and the party elites are stupid enough to give it to them. Any attempts by the House to force NerØbama to do anything will simply be ignored. He has his Chicago ways. Witness how he handled caps on carbon emissions and work requirements for welfare. The strategy simply won't work. The 'least bad' solution is to step aside, vote "present" and let the Dems take full responsibility for the failure that is sure to follow. Then be available to pick up the pieces. It doesn't start in 2014; it starts now.

Finally someone who gets it. There is no constitutional requirement that a house representative has to be the speaker, it is just anybody that gets 50% plus 1 of the votes decided by the house representatives. Eric Gulob for Speaker of the House!

I can't disagree with the advice.
But it is advice for a textbook Washington where the House has various powers, the Senate others, the President operates the government, and the courts sometimes slap their wrists.
IOW, a nice place where good is intended. Where from time to time the voters will toss control to the other party. A fantasy. A theme park.
Washington is not that place. It is much bigger and much, much more expensive than Disneyland. It grows and devours.

This is a center-right nation...
Is it? I'm not so sure any more. My own daughter, who's smart as a whip, says she's equally repelled by far-left and far-right. But when making her assessment, she seems happy to overlook that number - $16 trillion. Maybe when she has a few more years of balancing her own budget, she'll at least understand the wisdom of conservative FISCAL policy.

I think the author forgets who runs the House. The spineless Members in the House and Senate will fold on tax hikes. This will cause the Republican Party to disintegrate, as it should. It is time to rebuild a coalition to oppose socialism, and it isn't going to happen inside the current GOP. Strict adherence to social conservative priorities has resulted in most younger voters keeping their distance from Republicans.
I am hoping for something more along strict fiscal conservative lines -- like the Tea Party movement.

Until Atlas Shrugs, we have only one solution:
Abide by Obama's principal that overspending be "paid for" [by the generation that incurs it].
Refuse to increase the Debt Ceiling.
Leave Obama and his Democrat Party to rely exclusively on the Federal Reserve to expand the money supply to cover ALL overspending.
As ignorant and apathetic voters scramble to cope with inflation-diminished buying power that shrinks as fast as deficits accumulate, they will convert to conservative values or succumb to Democrat plantation masters who will starve them like North Koreans.
Then watch hyperinflation kick in as lenders demand floating interest rates on government debt to cover losses from the plummeting value of the dollar [that causes "necessarily skyrocketing" prices for everything as Obama advocated for electricity].
Within 12 months, the public reaction will make the founding of America look like a walk in the park.
Things may move even faster if doctors withdraw from practicing, layoffs multiply as nonessential consumer demand implodes, and half of our electricity supply ends as coal-fired electric generation shuts down, eliminating our capacity to support consumer, household and business electronics.
Just sayin.

How can anyone make Barry lead when he´s already going on trips to the far east? Then comes Thanksgiving, X-Mas, and New Years (all vacation time). Barry will simply let the tax cuts expire on Dec 31st so he can tax the maximum amount of money for fancy dancy ongoing new programs like bailing out union pensions or even CA now that they´ve actually gone over the cliff. After all, CA needs quid pro for all those delegate votes.

The way to prevent abortionists like convicted murderer Kermit Gosnell from occurring again is to build more Planned Parenthood clinics, Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) said at a House Judiciary Subcommittee hearing on Thursday about legislation that would prevent abortion after 20 weeks nationwide. “I would urge my colleagues to think about the extent to which he, Dr. Gosnell, represented the poor quality of health care services available in poorer communities,” Nadler said at the Subcommittee on the Constitution and Civil Justice hearing. “We should be working to make sure that high quality

House Speaker John A. Boehner on Thursday flatly ruled out chances of the House passing the Senate’s immigration bill, saying his chamber will debate its own bill instead. The Ohio Republican and his top lieutenants in the party issued a joint statement that seemed designed to tamp down some of the momentum behind the Senate bill, which emerged from a committee on a bipartisan 13-5 vote this week, and to stake out a House GOP position. “While we applaud the progress made by our Senate colleagues, there are numerous ways in which

During friendly questioning from Rep. Hank “I fear that Guam will capsize!” Johnson in Congress last week, Attorney General Eric Holder offered the following statement. In regard to potential prosecution of the press for the disclosure of material. This is not something I’ve ever been involved in, heard of, or would think would be wise policy. He made that statement before the facts about the sweep on Fox News’ James Rosen were known. Since then, it’s come to light that Holder himself approved the subpoena that, among other things, named Rosen as a criminal co-conspirator.

As the saying goes, scratch a liberal and you’ll find a tyrant underneath. NY Gov. Andrew Cuomo is but the latest example. He shoved a very restrictive and ill-considered gun law through the state legislature in the dead of night. Among its flaws, the law criminalized police officers who tote firearms with magazines that hold more than seven rounds. Sheriffs around the state have objected to the law. Cuomo summoned them to the state capitol under what appears to be a false pretext, and used the meeting to threaten them into silence. Cuomo invited

The National Council of La Raza (translation: The Race) has partnered with the Office of Personnel Management to encourage Hispanic activists and members to burrow into the federal government. A workshop sponsored by La Raza/The Race will take place in New Orleans on July 23, 2013. Senior Executive Service (SES) employees are federal government employees in special executive management positions, often with salaries approaching $200,000 per year (and well past that with benefits). What a fantastic talent liberals possess, the ability to talk out of both sides of their mouths. One side utters platitudes about campaign finance reform and the nefarious influence of money in politics, while the other whispers in the ears of oligarchs and plutocrats. One side slanders Republicans as the tools of corporate interests, while the other solicits donations from some of the largest corporations in the world. The next journalist to examine influence peddling on K Street need only walk two blocks south, to H Street.

Meanwhile, Obama still refuses to meet with any border security enforcement officers about any aspect of immigration reform. “From Justino Mora, Angie Kim and Mehdi Mahraoui, to Diana Colin and Kevin Lee,” a White House blog entry reads, “all of the stories they shared were full of hope and optimism that one day their family members and their broader communities could realize the dream of becoming citizens of a country that

The public got its first look Thursday at Lois Lerner, who has gone from faceless IRS bureaucrat to the face that launched what feels like 1,000 congressional hearings and conspiracy theories. But it was only a brief sighting since she didn´t stay long at a House hearing to further probe her role in how some IRS workers came to target conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status. (Snip)She did make a short statement to declare her innocence, however. Lerner´s motivation was more transparent than much of what the IRS has done in connection with this controversy. She was determined to

When you get right down to it, the political targeting and stalling of tax-exempt applications by the IRS was an effort to defund the Tea Party. Rick Santelli, one of the Tea Party founders and my CNBC colleague, was the first to make this point. I’ve taken it a step further: The IRS was taking the Tea Party out of play for the 2012 election, as it looked to avoid a repeat of 2010 and another Tea Party landslide. There are a lot of numbers out there.

President Obama on Thursday nominated Victoria Nuland, a State Department official involved in the editing of the administration´s talking points on Benghazi, to be the next assistant secretary of state for European and Eurasian affairs. Nuland, a career foreign service officer who was until recently State´s top spokesperson, had long been expected to be nominated the post to replace Philip Gordon, who Obama picked to serve as Middle East coordinator for the National Security Council. Nuland´s nomination -- which requires Senate confirmation -- could come under scrutiny from Republicans who see her as playing a central role in shaping

Conservative radio host Mark Levin is very skeptical of the idea that President Obama had absolutely no idea about the IRS tea party targeting before the story broke in the news mere weeks ago. Levin declared adamantly that it is a “flat-out, bald-faced lie” that Obama didn’t know beforehand, citing prior reports by a few conservative news outlets picking up on the news well before the 2012 presidential election. Levin said, “I don’t believe for two seconds that Obama wasn’t aware of this.”

Anthony Weiner’s New York mayoral candidacy was only made more improbable today after he revealed that he visited a Houston psychiatric facility following his resignation from Congress in 2011. Haunted by scandal surrounding his sexually explicit online communications with women, the Democratic former congressman sought treatment for his compulsive behavior from mental health professionals at the Gabbard Center. According to its website, the facility provides “3-day outpatient psychiatric evaluation,” particularly to “professionals who are in personal or professional crises.” While Weiner did not disclose
