| I’ve elsewhere addressed other shortcomings in this morning’s Wall Street Journal editorial urging Republicans to reassess what is portrayed, in the wake of strong Hispanic electoral support for President Obama, as their hostility to immigration. Here, I’d like to focus on the editors’ swipe at Mitt Romney’s endorsement of “self-deportation”: … Mr. Romney … often pandered to his party’s nativist wing (especially after Texas Governor Rick Perry entered the primaries), even endorsing what he called “self-deportation.” That may have endeared him to one or two radio talk show hosts, but it proved a disaster on Tuesday.

Republicans who favor amnesty must think the business model of the First National Bank of Change (if you are unfamiliar look up the parody SNL ad on yootoob). Why if we only let millions more poor uneducated hispanics in the country, we will get 40% of their votes.

Every poor uneducated Hispanic illegal alien is considered by the liberal Democrats to be a potential liberal Democrat voter. The liberal Democrats know that is absolutely historically true, as do you really think that the highly partisan liberal Democrats would spend their time pushing an amnesty and eventual US voting rights for 12-20 million illegal aliens if they thought that more then a few of them would have an Epiphany and vote for conservative Republicans? If the Republicans go along with such a liberal Democrat amnesty they would be handing the liberal Democrats many millions of new voters and would be committing long-term political suicide.
The use of the phrase Self-deportation by Republican politicians is not a good way to characterize illegal aliens leaving the USA of their own accord, and was probably a prime reason why the liberal Democrats were able to rile up Hispanic voters by demagoguing the issue of mass uncontrolled illegal immigration. As the word "deportation" is not popular word in Hispanic communities where illegal aliens fear being deported, and is like saying "Republicans will put you back in chains" to a black audience. The Republicans would have been much better off using a phrase like self-repatriation or illegal aliens simply leaving of their own accord.

MOORE, Okla. Authorities have clarified and significantly downgraded the number of homes damaged or destroyed in this week´s tornado in an Oklahoma City suburb. Oklahoma City Police Department spokesman Dexter Nelson said Thursday that the most recent count indicates that 1,200 homes in the city and the suburb of Moore were affected by Monday´s storm. The mayor of Oklahoma City announced at a news conference Wednesday that as many as 13,000 homes had been destroyed or damaged. There was no immediate explanation for the differing estimates.

He will not mediate between the parties; his work will almost exclusively involve contacts with Israel. Conservative radio host Mark Levin is very skeptical of the idea that President Obama had absolutely no idea about the IRS tea party targeting before the story broke in the news mere weeks ago. Levin declared adamantly that it is a “flat-out, bald-faced lie” that Obama didn’t know beforehand, citing prior reports by a few conservative news outlets picking up on the news well before the 2012 presidential election.
