Boehner Exclusive: Raising
Tax Rates 'Unacceptable' but
Will Put New Revenue on Table

ABC News, by John Parkinson

Raising tax rates is "unacceptable" to House Speaker John Boehner as he prepares to open negotiations on the looming "fiscal cliff" with the president and congressional Democrats, he told "World News" anchor Diane Sawyer today in an exclusive interview. "Raising tax rates is unacceptable," Boehner, R-Ohio, said in his first broadcast interview since the election Tuesday. "Frankly, it couldn't even pass the House. I'm not sure it could pass the Senate." That stance could set up a real showdown with the White House given that the president has said he would veto any deal that does not

New revenue is already on the table and is being served, idiot. Look at the provisions of Obamacare.

Boehner, you ignorant twit:

It's VERY simple

You create, pass, and send to the Senate a budget that cuts all useless alphabet agencies, has NO funding to implement Obambi-care, then sit back and say 'take it or leave it'.

When the MSM starts screaming, calmly explain that revenue bills start in the House, and that your bill is on the table, end of discussion.

Yes, the MSM will scream and stamp their feet, and proclaim you 'obstructionist' but they already do that, don't they ?

If Boehner is unwilling to lead, find someone who will.

Hey, idiot. Let them own this economy. Block immigration reform and coast to a win in 2014 when melanin is not on the ballot.

you say potato, i say potatoe.
If the White House and Senate Dems want full funding for the failed federal bureaucracies
Energy, Education, HUD, TSA AND they want to raise taxes while ONLY cutting defense, they just vote PRESENT and let them have their way.
Negotiating with the Dems is a losing proposition.

Since federal tax revenue as % of GDP is only 16% versus 19% long term average since WWII, something probable should be done. First priority is to get spending down substantially from 25%. Then, some revenue increases might be in order.

Reply 11 - Posted by: nonsense, 11/9/2012 9:33:34 AM     (No. 9002090)

Yeah, just give them move money. It will just be sucked down the black hole and make no difference. Tell the truth Boehner.

Vote him out Republicans, and put Paul Ryan as Speaker.

Salt, I read elsewhere tax revenues are down as a percent of GDP due to a: the economic weakness, and b: the temporary social security withholding reductions. The fiscal cliff that's coming up should restore what you're looking for.

We need someone other than Boehner that is not afraid of a little bad press, do what is right. These guys need to realize that no matter what they do they will always get bad press.

Reply 15 - Posted by: joew9, 11/9/2012 10:19:15 AM     (No. 9002255)

There will be more spending and more debt.
The reason debt retards the economy is because the middle class understands the math and they know that the only way to pay off the debt is to tax the middle. The rich have professionals that protect them from the taxes. And even if we took all the money from the rich we couldn't even begin to pay off the debt. So the middle knows that more debt eventually means increased taxes for them so they do the wise thing. They cut back on their own spending in preparation for the increased taxes. And that cut back slows the economy.

For example: Because Obama got re-elected I know that there will be more spending and higher taxes for me. I know that Boehner will not stop the tax hikes because he always surrenders and he has just said "New Revenue" which is code speak for "I surrender". So I have cancelled my plans to buy a new car and will continue driving the 217k mile car I currently own. I have just thrown all the car brochures in the trash. How many other car sales have just been cancelled due to the results of this election?

I work in automotive supply. The reduced cars sales will probably mean I will be unemployed in about two years. My younger co-workers have begun plans to leave the country. They are not recent immigrants but rather the descendants of great great grandfathers who came here a long time ago. BTW, the recent immigrant co workers have already left and gone back home where they now find a higher standard of living.

Appearing on MSNBC´s Andrea Mitchell Reports on Wednesday, NBC´s chief White House correspondent Chuck Todd came up with a long list of excuses for President Obama´s poor speech performance in Berlin: "I want to give you a little context here....there was an attempt to shrink the crowd size....Maybe they would have gotten 25, 30, 40,000 people....President Obama feeds off a crowd very well." Another Republican Super PAC is jumping into the increasingly nasty Massachusetts Senate battle, going after Democrat Ed Markey’s biggest weakness — his $1.3 million Maryland home. The America Rising PAC, recently founded by Mitt Romney’s former presidential campaign manager, is planning to deliver a letter today to Maryland’s comptroller urging the state to investigate why Markey has never paid state income taxes there despite living in the upscale Chevy Chase suburb for two decades, the Herald has learned. Markey’s residency status has been dogging him throughout his career, ever since the Herald reported in the early 1990s

Los Angeles County coroner´s officials said Wednesday the body recovered from a fiery, single-car crash in Hollywood that apparently killed journalist Michael Hastings will likely undergo an autopsy Thursday. But an official cause of death and closure of the case is not likely for four to six weeks or perhaps longer, they said. Coroner´s officials are hoping the results will answer why the accident happened. Officials were attempting to match dental records to help make a positive identification. The death of the 33-year-old Hastings was announced Tuesday by his employer, BuzzFeed,

A group of whistleblowers, including a number of aviation experts, have come forward in a new documentary to claim that the official explanation for the crash of TWA Flight 800 was wrong and a gas tank explosion did not bring down the flight off the coast of Long Island 17 years ago. However, the six whistleblowers, all part of the original investigation team, stopped short of saying the plane was shot down. Flight 800, a Boeing 747, had just taken off from JFK airport with 230 people aboard on July 17, 1996 enroute to Paris when it exploded

An attorney whose firm represents two Benghazi whistleblowers said Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, lied to the Senate when he said there was never a “stand down” order during the Benghazi attack on Sept. 11, 2012. “What was fascinating is that he explained his lie to them,” Joe DiGenova, an attorney representing one of the whistleblowers, told CNSNews.com. “He actually said they were sent to Tripoli. They were needed in Benghazi,” said DiGenova, a former U.S. attorney, now with the Washington firm of DiGenova & Toensing.

Amid a steady rise of backlash, Edward Snowden, the 29-year-old former National Security Agency contractor who was the source of a spring of leaks about the agency´s surveillance methods, conducted a live chat on The Guardian´s website Monday morning. Judging from some of the pointed questions he´s been asked and the reaction to newly leaked revelations over the past few days, it´s clear that much of the sympathy and support Snowden had built up for his early exposures is eroding. Many Americans supported his decision to leak information about a pair of National Security Agency surveillance programs, which, he detailed, gathered information

Listening to Barack Obama give his speech in Belfast on Monday, it was hard not to stifle a yawn. I kept waiting for the part when he would say something interesting, but, about three quarters of the way through, realised it wasn’t going to come. Judging from television pictures some of his young audience felt the same, after the initial rush of euphoria of receiving the rock star president in their midst had passed. This is not surprising, for we had already heard this number about the inspirational role of the Northern Ireland peace process and the Emerald Isle’s

This is the thirtieth anniversary of the publication of How Democracies Perish, an analysis of the spread of world communism by Jean-François Revel, one of freedom´s most serious French defenders since Tocqueville. At the heart of this work, Revel details "The Tools of Communist Expansion," among which the most relevant for understanding our current situation comes in Chapter 16, "Ideological Warfare and Disinformation." The profound simplicity of Revel´s nuts and bolts account of totalitarianism´s Cold War advance, far from being obsolete

Celebrity chef Paula Deen admitted in a recorded deposition to telling racist jokes, using the N-word, and planning a slavery-themed wedding, according to multiple reports. The May 17 deposition where she made the alleged admissions is part of a $1.2 million lawsuit brought by Lisa Jackson, the former manager of a Savannah, Georgia, restaurant run by Deen and her brother Bubba Hiers. Jackson alleges in the suit that Deen used the N-word at the restaurant and that Hiers sexually harassed her. According to the reports, in the deposition, Deen replied “Yes, of course,”
