| WASHINGTON — The Republicans may have kept their majority in the House of Representatives, but the Democrats had more success when outside money got involved. The GOP has taken 233 of the 426 House races decided so far, a 54.6 percent majority. However, Democrats won 32 of the 58 races that had over $1 million in outside expenditures from external groups not including the parties’ congressional committees. Republicans won 60 percent of the races with between $1 and $2 million in outside money, but Democrats took 68 percent of races with more than $3 million in independent expenditures

If i had to take a stab at it,I'd guess 20-25% of stimulus recycled it's way back into dem coffers. Warren got a ton of outside money and I'm guessing West and Bachmann's opponents got a ton as well.

Really, this is foolish. It is not as though we have a Constitution that designates the House with any power or responsibilities. Those, now, all lie with the executive office.

I am sorry to see Alan West loose and Michelle Bachmann squeak through . Could it be that the best leaders in the GOP get targeted and beaten by outside money. These same candidates were left hanging by the GOP central fund. We hang our best while the opposition targets our best. Something must be done about this. I say nominate one of these two right away for the next presidential round. Why wait to let the liberals pick our candidate in the lib primary states at the last minute. Let's let the liberals pick our candidate years ahead by the ones they target the most! If we loose anyway with the establishment candidate why not. When you are dying of cancer anyway it may be time to try a new treatment out.

West hasn't lost yet. Race is very close and he's filed suit to impound ballots and machines. Still military and early voting ballots to count.
Has there been an announcement today that he's conceded? Haven't seen it myself.

A number of people have sought to explain the IRS targeting of Tea Party, patriot, and 9/12 group applications -- as well as those from other conservative groups -- for "specialist team" treatment (mainly delays and excessive and inappropriate questions) in 2010 by pointing to the Citizens United decision that year allowing for unlimited, undisclosed fundraising by such groups. That´s the explanation IRS official Lois Lerner gave a week ago when she first revealed that the agency had improperly handled a slew of applications -- the political shorthand was a mistaken attempt to deal with a surge in applications.

WASHINGTON - There were new questions Saturday night concerning if anyone in the White House was aware of the IRS´ targeting of conservative groups. Inspector General Russell George said he informed a deputy at the Treasury Department in June of 2012 about the probe into the IRS. The Treasury Department confirmed the timeline but said they did not know the details of the investigation until last week.(Snip)Marcus Owens ran the tax-exempt division at the IRS for 10 years. He said it isn´t difficult to figure out who´s doing what at the agency.

It began in earnest last Friday. A flash mob of latte drinking, tofu eating media that has done its best to quell, rather than fan the flames of truth, turned on one of their own. Jay Carney lay bludgeoned at the base of the podium, a victim of friendly fire. Treasury Secretary Jack Lew on Friday urged congressional leaders to raise the debt limit and insisted that the White House is not going to negotiate over the increase because lawmakers have "no choice." "We will not negotiate over the debt limit," Lew wrote. "The creditworthiness of the United States is non-negotiable. The question of whether the country must pay obligations it has already incurred is not open to debate." Lew said that while President Obama is willing to discuss plans to reduce the nation´s deficit with Congress, those talks must be kept separate from any effort to raise the nation´s debt cap.
