On Thanksgiving, it'll be dine-

Skip the second helpings. It used to be just called Thanksgiving. Now the day is increasingly called Black Friday Eve or Black Thursday, as retailers double down on early opening hours for the kickoff of the holiday shopping season. This Thanksgiving, some retailers, including the world’s largest, are opening earlier than ever, before the dishes are even cleared from the table. “This is actually something we’ve seen really take off with consumers in recent years,” said Kathy Grannis, spokeswoman at the National Retail Federation. Last year, 24 percent of shoppers said they were at a store at midnight

Comments:
They are ruining Thanksgiving - a wonderful holiday to spend with family or friends. You can go shopping almost every other day of the year.

I've never done the Black Friday thingy. I much prefer to spend the time with my family. And, i do not like thronging crowds of rude and pushy people.

Can't agree more with OP.

Not me. I worked retail on Black Friday for 7 years. I stay home and rest. Nothing is THAT important for me to brave crowds and rude people.

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday because we all hang out together, relax, eat too much, and talk.
Why rush, there won't be anything on the shelves.

Boycott. Boycott. Boycott.
Write them letters, tell them why.
Grab the papers out of the recycling bin, contact the advertisers.
Watch TV commercials and call them and tell them although you may like the show, you cannot stand the broadcast station.
I called Generac today, and told them I wanted to order multiple large generators(I do) but would buy CHINESE garbage before I bought a Wisconsin product with their support of the Anti-American party.

I have seen one before, but has anyone prepared a current list of companies that supported the kenyan idiot boy?
If so, it would be nice to know whom to boycott for the next year.

It's sad to think of the crazy consumerism and greed that drives these shoppers.

Last year I read up on black Friday retail tricks and there are a lot. Big retailers will take a $500 tv in July and slowly raise the price until November. Now all of a sudden it's a $800 tv set being sold for.....$500! What a bargain! They'll also manufacture lower-quality items that look just like a particular model and sell them for doorbuster prices. The consumer thinks they're getting the higher-quality item, but they're not. Buyer beware!

#7, start with Walmart. The heirs gave $1 mil to the kenyan. Starbucks is another one to stay away from. And all you Ldotters that love Facebook, the kid gave $1 mil as well.

Don't these retailers know they are about to spoil what some see as a "tradition" (Black Friday that is). If it now just becomes a two-day shopping thingy, what's the point? People will stop seeing it as something "special". Let the market, however, tell them to stop it, which I hope it does.

By the way, I don't fall for the Black Friday thing. I have no desire to wait in line and then do the mad rush for some bargain. I don't mind buying on sale, but I don't go near shopping centers or malls on black friday and I sure as heck won't do it on Thanksgiving.

The people who will be shopping this holiday season will be using government subsidies to do so (or those who have lucrative government jobs).

But do any dimocrats even celebrate Christmas any more? Hard to imagine how they could square being Christian with voting dimocrat.

KIEV/MOSCOW - Armed separatists took virtual control of a city in eastern Ukraine on Saturday and Kiev prepared troops to deal with what it called an "act of aggression by Russia". Pro-Russian activists carrying automatic weapons seized government buildings in Slaviansk and set up barricades on the outskirts of the city. Official buildings in several neighboring towns were also attacked. The developments have increased concerns of a possible "gas war" that could disrupt energy supplies across the continent. And in 2012, despite the struggles of his first term, Mr. Obama still managed to win the support of a full 60% of voters age 18-29. Although the Civil Rights Act, the landmark legislation which just reached its 50th anniversary, made great strides in desegregating the economy, economic discrimination is still widespread, and anti-discrimination legislation alone can never rectify the economic damage inflicted upon blacks by slavery and our Jim Crow apartheid regime. The Civil Rights Act was a mild reform, all things considered, but one conservatives fought with vigor and one many conservatives are still bitter about to this day. When the Civil Rights Act passed in 1964, the primary purpose was to root out discrimination in public accommodations (like hotels and movie theaters)
