Minus 12: Obama Calls United
States ‘A Former Colony’

In his re-election victory speech on Tuesday night, President Barack Obama referred to the United States as a singular “former colony,” when the United States was actually composed of 13 separate colonies prior to gaining independence from the British. “Thank you so much. Tonight, more than 200 years after a former colony won the right to determine its own destiny, the task of perfecting our union moves forward,” said Obama, which was the first sentence of his remarks in Chicago, Ill. Before the United States won its independence from Great Britain with the Treaty of Paris in 1783,

And to think we get four more years of this. A colony, 57 states, whatever.

Once again, Obama's speechwriter the ill educated Jon Favreau shows how his lack of history knowledge, and Obama of course would not know how to correct it.

He's as uneducated and ignorant as my 70-year-old neighbor, who didn't know that the Constitution is the law of our land and that we have a Constitutional Republic.

We learned about the 13 Colonies in grade school. I doubt they taught American History in the Basuki School.

Indeed, 13 colonies.

And our self-determination wasn't so much "won" as taken. Takenby force of arms.

Oh. And retained by force of arms. Something that, like baseball, achievement, and exceptionalism, Americans are very, very good at.

Last -- there's absolutely no excuse for such errors to get into a pResidential speech, to make it to the teleprompter. To be uttered by even a usurper.

#7: Nice one.

So what? The kids don't care, their parents don't care, the illegals here to grab what they can don't care, but most of all the media, Hollywood and education not only don't care. They really hate anyone who does, because personal accountability and personal sacrifice are wrapped up in the story of how 13 colonies that were tempted to become their own countries, pulled it together.

All the snarky elitists who flirt with socialism and communism want to throw that out and rule us with an iron hand. We will see, but I sure wish more people knew things like what countries border the continental United States.

What's the point in continually pointing out the worn-out truth that stinky is a moron and a tool? Why bother? It comes across as sour grapes, and I think this might in fact be the case.

All the little stinkys ignored the blatant unavoidable truths and voted him in any way, and now we're in deep, deep trouble.

stinky lied, obfuscated and danced around his failures and disasters, and won. The United States is stuck with him for another four years. He won't be called to account for anything, and he definitely won't be impeached. He's wearing two sets of body armor -- sloe-joe biden and hairy reed. stinky is safe and tucked in for four years, and there's nothing we can do about it.

My home has been a stinky-free zone for four years. I think I'll try to make my life stinky-free as well; my postings here and elsewhere, conversations with friends and non-friends; as much as possible, li'l stinky is persona non grata in my home and life, now more than ever.

To hell with him. I can minimize to a small degree the damage his wicked treasonous actions inflict on me, and I will do that. We all will. But apart from that, I've scraped stinky off my boot for the last time. Like I said, to hell with him.

Boycott liberals in every aspect of your life. Life is so much more pleasant and simpler this way. Patronize conservative businesses.

Do not hire or do business with illegals in any way shape or form.

Red states citizens: Petition your governors and state congresses to cut off funding to illegals. Let illegals seek refuge in the blue states, or better yet, go home until they are legal citizens. Also petition your red state governments to exercise their Tenth Amendment rights and regain control of elections -- tell Holder to butt out. U.N. observers were amazed that ID was not required to vote.

Researchers at Princeton and Northwestern universities have pored over 1,800 US policies and concluded that America is an oligarchy. Instead of looking out for the majority of the country’s citizens, the US government is ruled by the interests of the rich and the powerful, they found. No great surprises there, then. But the government is not the only American power whose motivations need to be rigourously examined. Some 2,400 miles away from Washington, in Silicon Valley, Google is aggressively gaining power with little to keep it in check. It has cosied up to governments around the world so effectively that its chairman,

Then-Sens. Joe Biden and John Kerry were both opposed to Hillary Clinton’s 1993 health-care reform program, according to documents released by the Clinton presidential library. Clinton marked a handwritten “No” beside Biden’s name on Clinton’s list of Capitol Hill lawmakers that she needed to win over for her universal health care law, known as the “Clinton health plan” or “Hillarycare,” to pass. John Kerry, meanwhile, was marked with a “Probably not.” “Hillarycare” ended up dying in the Democratic-controlled Senate in 1994 without coming to a floor vote. Wayne Crews of the Competitive Enterprise Institute and Alexis de Tocqueville, author of the classic Democracy in America, were born in different times and places. But the French aristocrat and American think tanker have the measure of the federal behemoth in the age of Obama. Writing in 1835, Tocqueville eloquently predicted how it would function, while Crews today supplies in his annual compilation of federal rules and regulations, “10,000 Commandments,” the hard numbers that describe the behemoth´s contemporary reach and costs. It is always worthwhile to revisit de Tocqueville’s description of what he called the

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Thursday that a family of dissident ranchers and their supporters in his home state of Nevada are ´domestic terrorists,´ citing this week´s standoff with the federal government´s Bureau of Land Management. Cliven Bundy has refused to pay grazing fees for land where his hundreds of cattle roam every day. The land is owned by the federal government, which says he owes more than $1 million. In a speech earlier this week, Lisa O. Monaco’s full, prepared text is available here. She presented the speech, entitled “Countering Violent Extremism and the Power of Community,” at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government on April 15. Monaco began her remarks by eloquently describing the lives tragically lost last year during the Boston Marathon bombings.
