2012 election puts spotlight
on immigration reform

Top Republicans are signaling for the first time in five years that the party will get serious about immigration reform. Immigration’s sudden rise to the top of Washington’s to-do list after years on the legislative back burner spotlights how worried Republicans are about Latinos abandoning their party. The renewed interest in tackling the issue, if sustained, would represent a fundamental shift for Republicans, who allowed conservative firebrands to set the agenda on immigration after several failed attempts to pass a bill during the Bush administration. The chances of enacting a comprehensive overhaul remain low,

Comments:
So how bad will the Republican establishment screw the America people? Not one single thing should even be considered until that border his closed. That should have been done many, many years ago, especially after 9/11.

Just give them all amnesty, build a bullet train to Mexico, hand them a welcome basket of endless goodies, and call it good. Heck, why even have citizenship since America is dead and we are now the united states of Hades.

Thanks to the Progressive/Socialists, I now recognize that it is no longer Americans who populate this country, it is separate and distinct ehtnic and cultural groups. They will hate me for the color of my skin, then I can hate them for the color of theirs. Expect no quarter as none will be given.

The Commiecrats simply want to eliminate the tiresome necessity of stealing 10% of the votes each election. Get more ignorant, socialistic moochers of color in place and that will just naturally take place.

What reason would Hispanics have to vote for the wimpy Republicans after they caved and went along with a liberal Democrat proposed amnesty?

If the Republicans allow any sort of amnesty to pass that gives illegal alien permanent residency, and that puts them on "a path to citizenship" that is liberal Democrat code speak for eventually granting them all duel nationality status with US voting rights, the Republicans will be facilitating the creation of many millions of new liberal Democrat voters and will affectively be committing long-term political suicide. The liberal Democrats would never push for illegal aliens to be granted US voting rights if they ever thought that more them a very small percentage would ever have an epiphany and vote for conservative Republicans.

Any legalization program should only give illegal aliens a temporary immigration status, a work permit, and the ability to come and go from the USA. Most working illegal aliens would be happy with that.

To attain permanent residency in the USA, the status that leads legal immigrants to US citizenship, all illegal aliens legalized through amnesty should have to go to the back of the line and should have to follow the same procedures, and meet the same qualifications, that legal immigrants must meet when they apply for permanent residence in accordance with the immigration laws.

By failing to secure the border and deport illegal aliens (AKA anchor baby factories) as described by OP, give or take overhauling voter ID rules and halting importation of refugees from Somalia et al, George W. Bush personally hammered the final nails in the coffin lid of the GOP, and by extension, the nation. I don't suppose this was unintentional.

For the second time in my life, I am ashamed of my country. The first time was 11/4/08.

We need a CONSERVATIVE party. Period!

Like caving to leftists on amnesty will buy votes for the Republican Party - all credit will accrue to the Democrats and absolutely guarantee that Republicans never win another national election.

Republican politicians are dumber than dirt.

Just go ahead and say "amnesty". We all know that's what you mean.

Just like "choice" and "women's health" really mean abortion. You're only fooling yourself thinking that you're fooling us.

EXCLUSIVE: In the hallowed halls of Columbia University, a nest of ex-cons — who have served time for murder, attempted murder, robbery and assault — hold court on their unique brand of social justice for admiring students enrolled in the school´s social work program, a FoxNews.com investigation has found. The ex-cons work for or with the Criminal Justice Initiative (CJI), co-founded in 2009 by former Weather Underground operative and Columbia adjunct professor Kathy Boudin, who pleaded guilty to felony murder for her role in an infamous 1981 armed robbery that left two police officers and a security guard dead.

On Rush Limbaugh’s radio show this afternoon, Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, denounced the Gang of Eight immigration reform bill, encouraging his audience to call their member of Congress to oppose the bill. Cruz noted there were about 20 Republican Senators that were on the fence about voting for the bill, but that he believed that it was “politically foolish” and “terrible for the country.” “It doesn’t fix the problem,” Cruz said. “We need to fix the problem, secure the borders and improve legal immigration.” Cruz dismissed the Congressional Budget Office report showing that the bill would actually decrease federal

President Obama´s visit to the Group of Eight summit has created a political row in Ireland after an outspoken liberal lawmaker on Wednesday denounced the U.S. president as a “war criminal” for his drone use and his decision to arm the Syrian rebels. Parliamentarian Clare Daly said her country´s government had showcased the country “as a nation of pimps, prostituting ourselves in return for a pat on the head,” The Irish Times reports. The “unprecedented slobbering” during Obama´s two-day visit to Northern Ireland, she said, had even led to speculation that “you were going to deck the

Billionaire businessman Ronald Perelman has helped land the wife of Republican House Majority Leader Eric Cantor on the board of directors of Revlon—the latest politically connected appointment to the board of a company he controls. Perelman, 70, has been a political player for decades. He dishes out large campaign checks. He employs a team of lobbyists to patrol the nation’s capital to protect his business interests. And he has ensured that a steady stream of political elites land on the payrolls or boards of directors of his businesses. Among the political bold-named faces that have filled

President Obama on Tuesday downplayed Afghan President Hamid Karzai’s decision to suspend talks on a long-term security deal with the U.S. in protest of the launch of formal peace talks with the Taliban. Karzai also pulled out of peace talks with the Taliban the Obama administration agreed to hold in Qatar, which are to begin Thursday. Obama said his administration had always anticipated "difficult negotiations." "We had extensive conversations with President Karzai both before and after the Taliban opened the office in Doha," Obama told reporters at a joint press conference in Berlin with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

It probably wouldn´t have shocked political observers if Sen. Marco Rubio´s job approval ratings had taken a hit since becoming the Republican face of comprehensive immigration reform earlier this year. But the Florida Republican´s numbers in his home state are actually close to their best ever, according to a new Quinnipiac University poll released on Wednesday, though the senator did get low marks from voters for his handling of both immigration and gun control. Rubio had a job approval rating of 51 percent to 35 percent, the survey of registered voters found.

A group of whistleblowers, including a number of aviation experts, have come forward in a new documentary to claim that the official explanation for the crash of TWA Flight 800 was wrong and a gas tank explosion did not bring down the flight off the coast of Long Island 17 years ago. However, the six whistleblowers, all part of the original investigation team, stopped short of saying the plane was shot down. Flight 800, a Boeing 747, had just taken off from JFK airport with 230 people aboard on July 17, 1996 enroute to Paris when it exploded

An attorney whose firm represents two Benghazi whistleblowers said Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, lied to the Senate when he said there was never a “stand down” order during the Benghazi attack on Sept. 11, 2012. “What was fascinating is that he explained his lie to them,” Joe DiGenova, an attorney representing one of the whistleblowers, told CNSNews.com. “He actually said they were sent to Tripoli. They were needed in Benghazi,” said DiGenova, a former U.S. attorney, now with the Washington firm of DiGenova & Toensing.

Amid a steady rise of backlash, Edward Snowden, the 29-year-old former National Security Agency contractor who was the source of a spring of leaks about the agency´s surveillance methods, conducted a live chat on The Guardian´s website Monday morning. Judging from some of the pointed questions he´s been asked and the reaction to newly leaked revelations over the past few days, it´s clear that much of the sympathy and support Snowden had built up for his early exposures is eroding. Many Americans supported his decision to leak information about a pair of National Security Agency surveillance programs, which, he detailed, gathered information

Charlie Rose last night asked President Obama his new Syria policy. The president first objected to it being called a new policy. "I´m not sure you can characterize this as a new policy. This is consistent with the policy that I´ve had throughout," he said. Obama then explained the goal is regional stability, and especially in Syria. "Really, what we´re trying to do is take sides against extremists of all sorts and in favor of people who are in favor of moderation, tolerance, representative government, and over the long-term, stability and prosperity for the people of Syria," said Obama.

Marco Rubio. Paul Ryan. The IRS. Illegal immigration. And fraud to the tune of billions.. Now there’s a combustible mix. Let’s start with the IRS, illegal immigration and fraud. We’ll come back in a minute to Senator Rubio and Congressman Ryan. For those who came in late, a year before the IRS scandals burst onto the scene in early May of 2013, an alert investigative reporter for WTHR-Indianapolis (Channel 13), Bob Segall by name, produced a stunning piece of journalism. Segall’s video report is found here and we will quote from his story for the basics.

First Lady Michelle along with daughters Malia, 14, and Sasha, 11, started Tuesday with an hour-long visit to picturesque Glendalough in the Wicklow Mountains--but the two girls looked like they would have rather slept in at their luxury hotel. Glendalough is famous for its Medieval monastic settlement founded in the 6th century by St Kevin, the hermit priest.
