Lucianne Goldberg on living life
in American political history

Washington Times, by Joseph Cotto

FLORIDA — The American political arena is at once intriguing, complex, and mesmerizing. From the corridors of power in Washington to the studios of talk radio hosts, it can honestly be said that there is never a dull moment. Lucianne Goldberg has been a witness to many of modern American history’s defining moments. As an operative of the Democratic Party, she was afforded a behind the scenes look at Lyndon B. Johnson’s vice presidential nomination. Less than one decade later, she became a spy for the Nixon campaign, working behind the lines of George McGovern’s ill-fated

Look what I found! What a nice article about our extremely dedicated and hard working leader. I loved the answer concerning the "right wing" description. How appropriate.

Nice article Miss Lucianne. Thank you for your dediction to conservative values, (and creating this, "must read", web site!) You are well loved by this poster.

Loved the article, thanks for giving all of us a place to go and vent, praise, and discuss the worlds issues.

Thanks again Lucianne!

~~Cotto: You gained notoriety in the '70s for your activism against the women's liberation movement. Why did you oppose this?

Goldberg: As a conservative I found the thinking of the early women's liberation movement socialistic, non-productive and based on the hatred of men. I felt their demand for equality ridiculous. Equality to me and the women my group represented was a step down in our society. Our argument was not against equal pay but was more social in nature. We liked men, we liked being treated in a special way and we knew women would end up doing it all anyway. They have.
~~

Bravo Ms. Lucianne! The young 'ladies' of today have no idea what life was like before women's lib, and what they are missing. Great article, great answers!!

What a wonderful article!

Lucianne is an inspiration for all conservative women. Not only that, she's in possession of one of the sharpest of rapier wits around.

There you go! All real men love treating special women. It is genetic. Check out any period of human history, men go out of their minds, sacrifice themselves without hesitation for the love of their life. Some say every great achievement in societies is really about men showing women what they can do. They might be right. Of course it has to be a man who appreciates things like honor and the woman does have to be special.

A giant intellectual beacon of Conservatism, and matriarch of our treasured forum, Lucianne gives gem of an interview.

Second post....

I think we could all use a little comfort. A little distraction, a little hope and a little guide book.

Miss Lucianne, would you consider writing a "where do we go from here" tome?

I for one would be deeply heartened & grateful for some of your wisdom.

Interesting and insightful. Kudos to the reporter for doing his homework to make it so...

Also, Lucianne shows how to properly respond to a "gotcha" type question to disarm the questioner: reject his/her premise outright. A large number of GOP candidates could benefit from learning this technique.

What a find - thank you, OP! And a million thanks to our dear hostess for providing us with this safe harbor of Conservatism. I am so grateful for her and my L.Dot friends in these dark days. Lucianne, may you bask in the love and sunshine and the scent of God's love all around you, today and always.

FTA: ''Goldberg: I don't like the phrase right-wing. It makes like minded people who believe in conservative values sound cultish. You also assume that the right has become more hard line. I don't agree. Those of us on the right may seem more strident in the face of the socialist slant the government is taking but we've not changed how we feel at all in my opinion.''

This is probably one of the most important things to remember when looking ''inside'' and seeing your conservative ''moral compass.'' Like the Catholic Church, people and events change around me, but the teachings & Truth don't. Others will try to define me, but only God needs to know what is my heart and the Love I have for Him, and then try to share with others. Politics, therefore, plays a major role, local, state and national.

As my Father taught me: God, Duty, Honor, Country.

As alway, Ms. Lucianne knows of my personal affection for her and this website. We'll keep storming the gates, till we face St. Peter's, knowing that ''Breitbart Lives'' with Lucianne & US.

Lucianne, you are a big part of our family. We're with you first thing after phone alarm goes off and last thing before turning off the light. The last few months I've been with you in the middle if the night when I can't sleep.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You have kept us sane, given us hope and made us laugh out loud.

Our prayers have been with you and the staff as you've dealt with this horrid storm. Take care.

And let's not forget her brilliant son, Jonah. Intelligence, critical thinking, wit and wisdom beyond his years. Plus, he's a real cutie!

Like many posters here, I have found Ms. Lucianne and this site to be an anchor of sanity when the sea gets rough. And it's gonna get a lot rougher so hang on.

We don't need a book, #10. The answer is simple, we don't give up, we stand strong knowing God is on our side and that some day others will sober up and realize we're right. The reason we all love Lucianne is because she does just that and let's all of us come here for support and comfort.

Mrs. Goldberg, You and this website will never know what you have meant to me over the years. At one very low point in my life, I sent what I could to help with the bandwith and explained why it could not be more. I received a personal response from you and I have never forgotten it. It made me tear up and still does that you would take the time out for me. God bless you and yours always.

Lucianne.com is my home page and I love reading the clever and insightful comments when my column is posted here. This article also confirmed my first impression that Lucianne and I agree on everything especially Streisand.

Reply 24 - Posted by: Proud American, 11/8/2012 1:16:50 PM     (No. 8999864)

On the contrary my fellow LDotter #18. Madame Lucianne rarely speaks but allows us to think and "speak" freely in her salon. Rarely is our hostess' voice heard, hence the article was a complete delight.

I think that there are many things our hostess should pen down with the help of beloved Jonah. A memoir if you will with all the wit and wisdom of her experiance.

Why, the dreadful Dictator has writen several tomes full of drivel! Fluff about nothing I say!

Miss Lucianne could teach us so much about life, liberty and the task at hand. Do consider it.

This article gave me a bit of hope that seemed to disappear after the election. I had just about decided to 'go apolitical', but Miss Lucianne, you gave me a ray of sunshine. Reading this board daily, and commenting now and then, is very important - thank you so much for providing us with this terrific resource.

And your description of a Traditional Conservative is perfect.

Thank you again Lucianne for this most excellent 24/7 place to check out the latest happenings at any time! -Everything is ALWAYS current here. This is the Home Page on my laptop and is THE place to be for info & commentary posted from throughout the country and even beyond for all to contemplate & discuss. LDotters are independent thinkers about the issues of the day, truth seekers! And we value your polite salon.

...Actually, considering the dismal biased & scripted PC shape of the current media, where else would we be able to locate, compare & discern information which any informed citizenry requires? Without the internet and talk radio how would we find & discern the facts these days, midst the PC MSM's sifting & spinning?!!

We also appreciate the clever way your site is arranged, the home page with its KEWL daily picture or cartoon, latest posts, search, etc.! -Best informative, organized & polite site on the entire WWW!

Thank you Ms. Lucianne, this site is a life-saver for excellent articles to read and the posters are held to high standards, unlike many other responders to articles. I appreciate that so much. You are the first site I check in the morning and the last, at night. No one can compare. I also remember an interview you did with Tony Snow on the radio, during the Clinton years. It was a thrill to hear your voice and reasonable comments. I think you and Tony were friends. We lost a great journalist.

Reply 31 - Posted by: mackrand, 11/8/2012 1:36:45 PM     (No. 8999909)

Throughout my working life I was aware of the fact that the companies I worked for had a distinct culture and the behavior of its employees were for the most part firmly linked to this culture/behavior. The ones I made my home for awhile were the most gentle and caring while allowing the most productive to be successful. It goes without saying that the least successful of the bunch didn't have my presence very long.

The point? It is that even without saying it, Lucianne has an effect on this site, generating a culture if you will, without saying much at all. It's like her presence is felt rather than heard or read. I can read her feelings in what is posted here and is why I stick around and avidly try to absorb the ideas from all of you, which again, I'm sure reflect Lucianne's.

I don't like Streisand either, but the comment is sort of just hung out in space in the article. I wonder if there was some sloppy editing around that part of the interview. At any rate, like the others have said, this is a wonderful site, with wonderful members and leadership. Keep on trucking Ldotters and we will succeed in turning this nation in the direction it must go in order to thrive.

Renaissance Woman Lucianne Goldberg, genial hostess of this here now website, known coincidentally as Lucianne Dot Com (which just happens to be my go-to oasis), speaks her mind once again about things; things of widespread interest, of course. It’s always a treat to read what our Lucianne has to say.

God Bless and long live Lucianne Goldberg! When I first saw her on TV during the Monica/Bill thing, I thought WOW, I love this woman! The more I saw and heard what she had to say the more I admired her. I also agree with #33. It would be truly inspiring to have Lucianne on Fox!

Reply 43 - Posted by: Heraclitus, 11/8/2012 2:14:26 PM     (No. 9000005)

I'm another very grateful Poster here, grateful to Ms. Lucianne, and so blessed to participate with (mostly!) fellow Conservatives.

The articles posted are so very important, sometimes humorous, always interesting. The oversight of content is wisely done.

Lucianne speaks so clearly and succinctly. This is what Conservatives need to do in the public forum, or fora. Sometimes "we" assume that people know and understand conservatism.

This is a false assumption. It's based on another false assumption, namely that people, generally, are smart enough or wise enough or curious enough to WANT to learn and understand.

There's a lot of superficial, flimsy "thinking" out there in the marketplace of politics.

For our Republic to survive and flower again, it's imperative that we refine communication and get the liberating message of Conservatism promulgated.

This site gives us all an opportunity to hone the arguments, to vent --oh how we've needed this!-- our exasperations, and prepare for the fight ahead.

Lucianne ought to be on at FOX all day.

Thanks from the heart to Mrs. Goldberg!

I just broke my political exile by logging on here, first, of course, and this is the first article I read.

It helped that I didn't like Mr. Clinton. Still don't. Agreed.

Great article about Miss Lucianne. I particularly like her view about the feminists as so many of us in our era felt the same way. We simply did not fall for it. As many good women have proved which includes Miss Lucianne they can stand on their own two feet. I liked Nixon too. Of course being a Republican he was ripe as a target. However, Nixon was a great statesman. He knew how to deal with foreign leadership by believe it or not acting crazy. Everything she imo was right on target and I thank her for telling it like it was and is.

Bottomlining the "approach" of Cotto:

Goldberg: There are so many assumptions in this question I chose not to address them.

And that, dear readers, is the State Controlled Lapdog Media's entire interviewing SOP.

The cult-like devotion to BHO is based on receiving benefits. Take away the extra unemployment weeks, make welfare work-fare,
take away or decrease all the social programs now in effect, cease the bailouts, etc and then we will see how much of a cult-like figure Obama really is. He is understandably an icon to Blacks ( Philly voting 99% for him ), but he is definitely not a favorite, to put it mildly, to many of us. He is, in fact, by the distribution of taxes, giving away my hard-earned money to those that I would never
agree to receive it. He is buying the vote with the citizen's taxes. Appreciate Ms Lucianne giving us a forum to vent.

Whooo, Go Ladybug!

I especially enjoyed your answer to his wordy, assuming spiel, where you said that there were so many assumptions in his question, you chose not to give an answer.

Most conservative politicians are so desperate to please the sterling undecided vote and leftist journalists that they allow the nasty assumptions in questions to fly by, and then try and apologize for an assumption that is not true. If only our leaders were as grounded in truth and logic.

Nice interview, Ms. Lucianne. We hear from you way too little except for your comments under headlines. God bless you, Jonah and family!

Oh Ms. Lucianne what a wonderful interview. How we admire, revere and treasure your voice of wisdom and clarity in these rough days. When the website began, how could we have ever guessed the many political earthquakes we would be weathering together. Thank you again, x100, for all you do to give us this safe harbor in the storm. We absolutely love you.

Great article. Thanks for posting.

And as always, a million thanks to our own Lucianne, one of the most savvy gals on the planet, for everything you do every single livelong day. And also thanks for Jonah, who just gets better and better!

According to Lucianne, to be a traditional conservative, one needs, : "God, family, flag, small government and being left alone to live one's life within the law."
Amen.
Lucianne for President!

BTW, Lucianne, you need to circulate a more current 'file photo'. You're more gorgeous than ever these days! ;)

Sorry I did not scroll down to this posting sooner. I too loved the interview and count it a privilege to be allowed to post at times.
What would it take to persuade Fox News to feature our host frequently? Can we start a campaign? Wouldn't be a great relief to know we are still banded together.
I have had a day long exchange with my oldest son in SF. I ended it with this observation after he said he was sorry that I "lost".
"I am NOT sad. Like George Will, back when Jimmy Carter became President, I feel that now Obama will be solely responsible for really showing the anti-prosperity effects of Progressive-ism. If Romney had won, he would have had a thankless job, with virtually no popular support for tough measures needed."

Lucianne, what a great interview, you need to be on Fox EVERY DAY. America needs to hear the plain truth about conservatism.

Also, I'm sure you don't know this but you have been a member of my family for over 10 years. You know what they say, you can choose your friends but you can't choose your family!

Keep it up, Love you to death!

Great interview while it lasted. Ended way too soon! Agree with Mrs. Goldberg on all points excepting one - she is a noted figure in American politics.
If, as she said, it was luck rather than inspiration that caused her involvement, that makes Conservatives doubly lucky. Words can't express the appreciation most conservatives have for her and so many others who are an inspiration because of their efforts.

God bless her, and hers.

Ms. Lucianne, thank you for all you have done to support and inform my conservative values. The above posters say so much of what I think. You are an inspiration.

From the heart of 'fly-over' country, when I started reading you and Drudge in the late '90's, I was so isolated living in Minneapolis, being conservative, and a young post-feminist mom.

You inspired me to speak my mind about the cost of feminism to women in my Generation. Since then, my LDot family has supported me through my parents illnesses and deaths, and many late nights waiting for teenagers who were occasionally late for curfew, even if you never knew it.

I am always honored to be your guest.

Lovely article! We should be grateful to lucianne and other media people who advocate for our interests. I don't know how I would have kept my sanity if I didn't have a place to express my opinions (and at times vent)...this has been a frustrating campaign for me knowing that most media were telling lies about mitt Romney. I still think he would have gone down in history as the man who saved America.
I'm still hurting, but I can't imagine how mitt and Ann are feeling.
I think the only way I can get some closure on this election is to sit down and write a letter of appreciation for how he always carried himself with honor and dignity...and always because of his love for America.
Maybe we didn't deserve him.

Hi folks. This 91 year old military warrior (1942-1972) has experienced many, many changes in our culture over the years. It is sad to me to see where our country is now being taken. I sometimes wonder if my thirty years efforts to preserve our Founding Fathers legacy to us may have been in vain. I fear what life of my grandchildren will be if this trend is not turned around before it is too late to change. A great consolation for me is to be able now and then to post a comment on my favorite website Lucianne.com. Thank you Lucianne; you are a jewel to behold.

Wish that Aggie57 and others were still around to comment.

I still want to know what "name" Tony Snow posted under.

I'm just baffled why some people don't understand the concept of "being left alone to live one's life within the law".

Thank you Mrs G and my fellow thinkers who post here and keep me sane.

In 2007, then Senator Barack Obama appeared on CNN´s Larry King Live and called on U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales to resign. Obama said Gonzales was acting more like the president´s attorney than the people´s attorney and viewed himself as an "enabler of the administration." "Well, I voted against Alberto Gonzales confirmation for precisely the reason we are seeing now. I said this on the floor of the senate, that although he seemed to be a capable attorney, he seemed to conceive his role as being the president´s attorney instead of being the people´s attorney," Obama said.

House Speaker John A. Boehner on Thursday flatly ruled out chances of the House passing the Senate’s immigration bill, saying his chamber will debate its own bill instead. The Ohio Republican and his top lieutenants in the party issued a joint statement that seemed designed to tamp down some of the momentum behind the Senate bill, which emerged from a committee on a bipartisan 13-5 vote this week, and to stake out a House GOP position. “While we applaud the progress made by our Senate colleagues, there are numerous ways in which

During friendly questioning from Rep. Hank “I fear that Guam will capsize!” Johnson in Congress last week, Attorney General Eric Holder offered the following statement. In regard to potential prosecution of the press for the disclosure of material. This is not something I’ve ever been involved in, heard of, or would think would be wise policy. He made that statement before the facts about the sweep on Fox News’ James Rosen were known. Since then, it’s come to light that Holder himself approved the subpoena that, among other things, named Rosen as a criminal co-conspirator.

As the saying goes, scratch a liberal and you’ll find a tyrant underneath. NY Gov. Andrew Cuomo is but the latest example. He shoved a very restrictive and ill-considered gun law through the state legislature in the dead of night. Among its flaws, the law criminalized police officers who tote firearms with magazines that hold more than seven rounds. Sheriffs around the state have objected to the law. Cuomo summoned them to the state capitol under what appears to be a false pretext, and used the meeting to threaten them into silence. Cuomo invited

Levin declared adamantly that it is a “flat-out, bald-faced lie” that Obama didn’t know beforehand, citing prior reports by a few conservative news outlets picking up on the news well before the 2012 presidential election. On “Fox News Sunday” last weekend, White House aide Dan Pfeiffer was asked about President Barack Obama’s whereabouts the night of the Sept. 11 attack in Benghazi. This was the night when we lost our first ambassador in 30 years, and when three other Americans were killed in an attack that lasted all night long at multiple locations within the eastern Libyan city. Since the president is commander in chief, one would think where he was and what he did during such an event would be of obvious public concern.
