This election was the "free stuff" party vs the "eat your vegetables" party.

Since the "free stuff" people don't see any problem with the gravy train continuing...they voted accordingly. Let's face it, it won't be a problem until we become Greece in about 4 years.

Snice this is already happening at the local and state level faster than the national level...you've seen gains in the states by Republican Governors and Legislatures first. Expect national gains to follow.

We're not leaving politcs, Johah, only the GOP. There are times to spackle the drywall, and then there are times to tear it down. It's time to tear down the GOP and replace it. It's time to stop listening to the Establishment "experts". They have been proven wrong.

I am over this country that I once loved. The takers have won. Well, we are takin' our money and offshoring it and strategizing how to pay as little to the takers as possible through what will become stranglehold taxation levels. You own it takers, just don't rely on me and my family anymore.

So the stupid party has essentially two options if it wants to survive as a viable alternative to the socialists;

1) Take off the kid gloves and go for broke. Make a principled stand and oppose the socialists at least on fiscal grounds. Pass a budget in the house and agree to NO MORE conintuing resolutions. Shut the govt. down if the senate doesn't agree. Shut it down. That's one sure way to cut spending. Make the case, loud and often, that the runaway irresponsible spending must stop or we will soon be the Greece of the western hemisphere. Show some stones. Go down fighting if it comes to that.

2) Sit back and tell the free-stuff crowd, "OK, you wanted socialism, you got it". Give oblamer all that he wants, tax increases and everything. Then be prepared to pick up the pieces when the economy tanks again. Maybe, just maybe, the electorate will wise up when that happens.

I prefer option 1. Otherwise I might just forget about the stupid party once and for all. They couldn't field a candidate to oust the weakest and worst president of my lifetime. Big time fail, again.

Jonah has good points. I too am over the USA. It is not my country anymore sadly. Actually, as a Christian I am in the world but not of the world. So really, nothing has changed. I will just be more distant than I was to the country's direction. We can all remember when the downfall of our country began: when God was taken out of the schools. How long ago that was. We did not do anything but whimper. Why would the left not be empowered to take more and more of our freedom. We did not put up much of a fight. We have long been too focused on money and things. Now we will lose them. I see the future and it is full of redistribution and enslavement. Fortunately, I don't have to be a slave to anyone but the Lord. Our poor children and grandchildren. They can sure blame us for their loss of liberties.

Jonah is right, there is hope, but it's no longer a few months away. It's now at least a decade away (if at all).

The SCOTUS is gone for a generation.
0bamacare is permanent
Dodd-Frank is permanent.
Our economic engine is beyond a major Mitt tune-up and will need an expensive complete overhall and that won't happen until the thing seizes and that's not going to be pretty or be evident to those in charge anytime soon. . . and by that time there may not be enough working parts to put the thing back together.

Reagan couldn't win in this current environment. What happened was unfathomable. Obama and the Democrats did better than Bill Clinton did in 2002. Fewer voters voted for Romney than did for McCain! Conservative Republicans like Mia Love lost in Utah! This is like a reverse of the miracle wins we saw with Bush in 2000 and 2004. It's actually kind of scary.

I too may become an ex-pat... However, I think of the lady who was under House Arrest for 25 years.. She will become my role model for perserverance.

I am not going to start a business, will work hard, live debt free, and keep options open. I do not like the debt this country has accumulated.

The GOP is stupid! That's why they lost. The voters do NOT want what the GOP is selling. So what to do? Talk and listen to the people.

What do we have left in the rubble?

* 30 out of 50 states under conservative / GOP control.

* A crop of young guns (Rubio, Ryan, Jindal, Haley, etc) who can help make the case for conservative principles to minorities and those who will eventually tire of Socialist overreach (DemoRATS WILL - it's a matter of time.)

* Middle America. Strengthen and rebuild from within and outward. As conservatives refuse to ascribe to, believe in, or follow what 'enlightened progressives' on either coast think is best for us. Cut out the rubbish passing for 'entertainment,' spend more time with things that DO matter - God, family, useful education.

* Embrace being a conservative guerilla. Progressive are now the majority - THE Establishment, if you will.

Thoughts running through my head this morning:

- The comment boards in recent years often lapse into citing how fascistic this administration is. At least the Euro fascism was a step toward order and functionality in the face of economic collapse. Yesterdays vote looks far more like afro-centric tribalism and a vote for a better seat at the trough -- while there is still a trough.

- Joe Biden has proven himself the world's best insurance against impeachment. They could find a dead boy in Obama's bed tonight and the nation would be reluctant to act for fear Joe Biden would someday become President.

- When a majority of Justices turn their back on original intent, there will be no governing principal that limits the federal government. They will do whatever they want, however they want. The only driving thought among politicians will be how to get a bigger piece of the pie.

- The market value of my firearms just rocketed. The focus now should be on buying used guns from private sellers so as to leave no public record of ownership.

- Gold, bullets and toilet paper are looking pretty good this morning .

- Time to study how whites survived, physically and economically, under Mugabe's ad hoc land confiscations in Zimbabwe.

- Where in the historical record is the model for stopping these cretons?. Have we sailed off the historical map? Are we in completely new waters?

- Russia's national debt is on the order of magnitued of $100 billion. That's the lowest in the G20.

Voting machines were gamed. It's just a computer software change. Who will challenge??

I agree with posters @0 and 25 -- the voting machines were gamed, rigged. That many Republicans do not split their tickets to vote for a Republican House and a Dem faux president.

It is high time that that the House leadership "manned up" and exposed Obama's true identity/paternity, and then pursued a full investigation of the Benghazi massacre/terror attack.

Five hundred former flag rank officers endorsed Romney and 5 endorsed Obama. Obama is planning to severely cut military spending, as though he and his partner do no spend enough on entertaining and travel already.

I've been following the austerity programs going on in Europe and it's not pretty. Spain, one of the most progressive countries is a mess with talk of possible secession by the northern region where all the manufacturing is located. They are tired of supporting Madrid and Barcelona and all the pensioners and their baby booming population. We are not that far away from a similar situation here. The first people who will be screaming bloody murder when this happens will be the Unions and the Gimme Mine crowd.

I hope our young guns, especially Marco Rubio, will emerge as the true leaders we need to escape from the tyranny.

With regard to the voting machine issue, compare your personal sense of your local electorate with yesterday's results in your locality. I can see that Obama lost 20% from 2008 in my locality. That is consistent with my subjective impression.

If there were shenanigans, I have to assume there was a rational business decision to limit their antics to the swing states. (Now if they could just apply the same rational decision making in how they rule our country.)

As long as you acknowledge that corporate banks are part of the "free stuff" party, getting basically free no interest money for the last four years and not passing it on to small businesses and personal loans, so grandma can get a few dollars interest on her retirment CDs, then yeah.

It's a vicious circle. The more you do that, the less the populace can survive in a private way, and the more they need "free" stuff just to get by.
