Mitt Romney said during his concession speech Tuesday night that he would “pray” for President Obama’s success during his second-term in office, urging all of the politicians of both parties to push aside partisan politics to solve the nation’s problems. "The nation, as you know, is at a critical point,” he said, addressing a subdued crowd of supporters in Boston. “At a time like this we can't risk partisan bickering. Our leaders have to reach across the aisle to do the people's work and we citizens also have to rise to the occasion.”
Bye bye GOP. You've told us to sit down, shut up and go along for the last time. If there is anything left to save in 2016, let's hope a real third party arises out of the ashes of our country, and rids us of the blight that is our elected "representatives".
How pathetic the Romney campaign and repubs have proven to be.
#4 I'm with #1. I feel betrayed by the American people. I am a political junkie and used to love following every tiny political detail. Now I am battle worn and am tired seeing our side kicked in the teeth constantly from the Unions, Democrats, and the Hollywood-media complex (Axis of evil). Its a losing battle as evidenced by tonight's results. The bad guy wins by convincing the low-information voters of our Country that the good guy is the bad guy. Game over.
We've been a bit pessimistic in the wayne household for some time. I suspect that in the next few years we'll leave the left coast for a solid red state and wait for things to take their course. It'll be sad, but what do you do when most of your neighbors are parasites?
Those of us in the reality based community realize that Rush is an entertainer, not a politician to be taken seriously or deified. Hannity is a shyster, mildly entertaining but rarely fair or truthful. Dear Leader is a bad guy, but he is not some kind of communist plant. He may be a socialist, but we are still a nation of laws and we've got a GOP congress that has prevented Barry from doing any more significant damage since 2010. The long term scenario here is actually good. Markets will realize that Bernanke and his Krugman School of Alchemy is not a stable or long term growth strategy. Commodities will continue to boom because of government imposed scarcity, funny money, and the secular BRIC story. If the economy doesn't improve in the next two years you could see a repeat of 2010, but this time GOP taking the Senate. We need better party leadership. More discipline. Better candidates (sorry Akin and Murdock). It was always a long shot to beat the First Black President and his media. The conservative movement has some growing up to do.
Uh huh - and guess which side will be expected to do all the reaching and bending and compromising. NO THANKS. Frankly our narrow margin of power in the House is the only thing standing between us and a total socialist bulldozer driven by Barry and Harry (Reid). Scary and sad outcome tonight. I do not know what the GOP needs to do next but clearly our course of action in 2008 and 2012 was not effective enough.
#8, we donated the TVs shortly after Obama's first election. One of the smartest things we ever did. Reading the information online for yourself is much easier on the blood pressure than hearing some grossly overpaid twit emote it on one of the news shows.
The demographics of the country have turned against the Republican Party as it is now constituted, and they are not going to win national elections in the future.
Obama will now call for what amounts to amnesty for up to 20 million illegal aliens, and to put them on a path to citizenship that is liberal Democrat code for eventually granting them US voting rights. Since the vast majority of the legalized aliens will be poor low wage earners with limited educations, most of them who register to vote will be liberal Democrat voters. If only half of the legalized aliens ever vote they would amount to 10 million or so new liberal Democrat voters. Can you explain how the Republicans will then be able to undo such a huge number of new liberal Democrat voters to be able to win future national elections, there is no way.
Tonight you saw the majority of USA voters essentially cross the Rubicon and there is no coming back.

Romney was gracious and classy in the speech we didn't want to see him give. It's what's expected and he did it well, though you could see the pain out there for sure. The end of partisan bickering? Hardly.
Very good and depressing point, #19. Very true. If that happens CA will be even more down the drain than it already is. It's a bleak night all around.
#19 and several others have posted about demographics - the USA is changing fast and we cannot win national election with only the white vote. Demographics as-is are hurting us. Consider: in 2008 Ohio's vote was 83% white. Tonight it was 79%. In 2016 it will probably be only 75-76%. And so on. Tonight is too soon to have a frank discussion on this subject but we do need to dig into it in the months to come. We need to promote conservative values to a wider group of America, we need a bigger tent, Obama and the Dems have scooped up every group that they can. And they don't intend to give an inch of their base back. We need to work hard for this. Our GOP convention audience in Tampa, did anyone else notice it was almost 100% white people. Our rallies for Romney, were almost 100% white people. That is what has to change or else we are destined to become an opposition party only.
We should concede our failures and move on. The Tea Party proved it can move mountains. Now it needs to decide it's next move. We need to have an organized John Galt movement. If the majority of this country is controlling things then let them start producing. See what happens to this country when food stores start to run low on items.
I'm not sure how a movement like this happens. Clearly, we need a leader. But I can tell you one thing. I will not pay for another movie ever again. And if it weren't for my wife objecting, I would disconnect cable. Why give Hollywood money?
No more big ticket purchases if I can help it. Hunker down.
Dark day. Think of Gen Washington at his deepest despair, how things felt the day after Lincoln was shot. This idea that is America has made it this far, and no freakin' way this buffoon is going to bury it. Times will be hard..so what else is new?
I was dreading this, and had a presentiment that we would see a repeat of 1996. I am beyond sad. My country is gone. We used to be exceptional, now we are no better than any other socialist country. I truly don't know what the future holds, but it isn't good.
If some of you mean the Republican Party must pander to each minority group, trying to outdo Democrats? It will not work. Trying to go Dem-lite is killing the party. Second huge problem we have is a GOP establishment that only tolerates conservatives. They assist the MSM to destroy good candidates like Allen West, Michelle Bachmann, etc. Until these deep problems are dealt with, we will lose.
Well I really doubt that Obama will listen. Te country is in a mess and it will get worse, thank you to the half that re-elected this jerk, are you happy now? You will be ecstatic when it gets worse, mmm, mmm, mmm.
The let down is huge, having no contingency plan for four more years of misery. Hubby is profoundly depressed and feels everything he has ever worked for and supported has been undermined by a brain-dead population of voters who know nothing more than pop culture and are too stupid to recognize this progressive communist take over. This election has been nothing but an exorbitantly expensive past-time for too many people. I want this fellow impeached at the very least, and soon.
3:13 am. Should be sleeping because I have another tough work day ahead of me. Like all days, I'll get up, do that work the very best I can. The difference is that , after tonight's rotten outcome, I will start tomorrow with the idea that I will withhold every penny I can. I will do my very best to deny the takers. I will be more vocal about being paid in cash and offer a discount for cash. I'll pay people , who provide me with work I need done, with cash. My few dollars withheld will not starve out the takers but, perhaps combined with the few dollars from a million or so of us, will start to do damage. If I can NOT pay for one Obama phone , it will be something to make me smile a little. I'll hand over as little as possible. The takers , get from Gov, which has no money except ours. Deny them as much as possible. The 'alto ATM' is shutting down.
Meh - It was over "really over" last election, and in fact before that with globalism and Wall Street. It wasn't Obama per say. I voted third party, but I sympathize with you all. I know how hard it is to let it go (the American Dream) and how much it hurts.
My heart is very heavy this morning, words cannot express. I have felt like a hostage these past four years and was looking forward to happier times. But there will be none for the foreseeable future.
I want to know about the fraud. I simply cannot believe that the massive crowds and the energy of so many patriots went for naught. Always eager to give up, the repub candidates are. They take the "high road", concede, and leave the rest of us to suffer the horrible consequences. I wonder if Rush will tell us today that it's time to panic.
Hunker down is right. With the "DEMographics" being what they are, it looks like the way for the GOP (what is that?) to win future elections is to embrace big government, gay marriage, abortion, and lots of free stuff for citizens.
#11 "….We've been a bit pessimistic in the wayne household for some time. I suspect that in the next few years we'll leave the left coast for a solid red state and wait for things to take their course. It'll be sad, but what do you do when most of your neighbors are parasites?…"
Make a trek to the South, my friend. We aren't perfect but it's pretty good down here. Buy you a few acres, grow a garden, raise some chickens, learn to like deer meat. Low profile…below the radar…….!
I was proud to stand with Mitt Romney and I know his heart breaks for this great country. He and his family don't have to worry about their future when it comes to everyday living but ours have to.
The victory last night was for the underclass of America. That is exactly why Obama let all those illegal immigrant students stay. That is why he ran a divisive campaign and early on defined Mitt Romney as an evil rich guy with no retort coming from the Romney side here in Ohio.
Romney was right for the times and gave a good fight right to the very end. He should not be blamed. The low info voters, the knee-pad media, the changing demographics of our new welfare state, the horrendous untrue attacks on Romney, etc. are what did it. It's so very depressing and heartbreaking to think of four mores years of Obama fundamentally changing America.
The numbers are very confusing. Supposedly, the Independents were breaking 59% for Romney. Huh? We were told that was the deal breaker. We were told Republicans would cast more votes than Democrats this year. Remember 2010? Well, if so, the numbers just don't add up. IMO, the bottom line is ballot boxes were stuffed in Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, PA, VA and FL and probably more states. Email voting in NY & NJ? I'm sure there was no voter fraud involved there, right? The fix was in.
39, right, too bad we didn't nominate Santorum/ Palin and just go out with a bang! I'm with the people clamoring for a third party: the Palin Patriotic Tea Party and Tin Foil Hat Wearing Polls are Screwed Up No Abortion for Rape Victims Party! We will take the country back.
Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), apparently pleased with the ouster of the former President Mohamed Morsy, have approved $8 billion in aid to Egypt on Tuesday. The Saudi funds comprise a $2 billion central bank deposit, $2 billion in energy products, and $1 billion in cash, the Saudi Finance Minister Ibrahim Alassaf told Reuters. (Snip) The rise of Mohamed Morsy´s Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt since 2011 has unsettled most Gulf Arab states, including the UAE, which feared it would embolden Islamists at home. Morsy became president a year ago in Egypt´s first freely contested election.
The second suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings was taken into custody Friday night, bringing to an end a massive manhunt in the tense Massachusetts capital worried by warnings the man was possibly armed with explosives. After announcing the arrest on Twitter, Boston police tweeted: “Captured!!! The hunt is over. The search is done. The terror is over. And justice has won. Suspect in custody.” (Snip) Police were alerted to his whereabouts by a man who went outside after authorities lifted an order for residents to stay inside during the manhunt. The man saw blood on a boat in the
There were few complaints at the Woodruff polls as South Carolina´s new voter photo ID requirement was enforced for the first time in Spartanburg County. The re-do election for mayor in Woodruff is the first Spartanburg County election since the photo ID requirement went into effect Jan. 1. The law requires voters to show a S.C. driver´s license, Department of Motor Vehicles ID card, voter registration card with photo, federal military ID or a United States passport to cast a ballot. (Snip) The law was passed in 2012 as a measure to combat voter fraud, according to proponents.
To the world beyond the Beltway, it might not mean much that Bob Woodward of the famed Watergate duo went public with his recent White House run-in. This would be an oversight. (Snip) Distrust of media, encouraged by alternative media seeking to enhance their own standing, has become a tool useful to the very powers the Fourth Estate was constitutionally endowed to monitor. When the president can bypass reporters to reach the public, it is not far-fetched to imagine a time — perhaps now? — when the state controls the message.
There are two stories circulating around Bob Woodward this morning. (Snip) But the White House also wanted the issue to disappear until after the election, so in conjunction with Congress it proposed (and the President specifically endorsed) an enforcement mechanism called sequestration. In exchange for agreeing to a package of $1.2T in cuts with no revenues as a failsafe, Republicans agreed to raise the debt limit high enough that it would not be reached until after the election. The significant point is that the trigger for sequestration was not the same date as the implementation date.
This breaking story is now on Breitbart: Ofa Email: Attack Congressional Republicans on Sequester First, let us revisit the description of Organizing for Action given to us this week by White House Insider: “Well just look under the slimy rock of his Organizing for Action group. The are all 501’nd up now and starting out with millions of donations and the single biggest voter database in the history of American politics. (Snip) It’s global. It’s tied in with the U.N., climate change, gun control, healthcare, taxation, global taxation, currency, education, poverty, hunger, they got every big name item involved
This just in from our Republican Insider, who has been very busy of late regarding the impending sequestration conflict that is being played out 24/7 by the Mainstream Media and the Obama White House. (Snip) Word of that compromise got out and reached the White House. I am guessing it was someone working for Reid who relayed that information. Regardless, it was the very next day that a staffer for one of the Senators working the compromise deal received word from Legislative Affairs to not under any circumstances continue to produce a compromise, or publicize any such deal.
On his way to the podium at the memorial ceremony for former South African president Nelson Mandela, President Obama walked down the line of dignitaries, greeting other leaders there to pay their respects. Among the hands shaken: that of Cuban leader Raul Castro. Obama neither made a special effort to shake Castro’s hand nor to avoid him. A snub might have been awkward: In his speech, Obama praised Mandela’s “greatest gift” as “his recognition that we are all bound together in ways that can be invisible to the eye; that there is a oneness to humanity; that we achieve ourselves by
The Obama State Department has finally released a second round of photos revealing the harrowing devastation wrought by a terrorist attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi on Sept. 11, 2012. The new photographs depict rampant damage to the consulate. They show charred walls, smoldering fires, Arabic graffiti defacing exterior walls, and scattered debris throughout. The extent of the damage would lead any reasonably serious person to conclude that this was a cold, calculated attack, carefully coordinated to mark the 11th anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001. Unfortunately for the American people, the Obama-Clinton-Rice cabal that led to the Benghazi cover-up was
A black fashion student says he was brutally attacked by a gang of Hasidic men who shouted anti-gay slurs at him while he was walking through Williamsburg after a night of partying, the Daily News has learned. Taj Patterson, 22, was headed home to Fort Greene around 4:30 a.m. on Dec. 1 when he says more than a dozen ultra-Orthodox Jewish men began assaulting him on Flushing Ave. and yelling, “Stay down, f----t!”
A “presidential selfie” featuring President Barack Obama, British Prime Minister David Cameron, and Denmark’s Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt at Nelson Mandela’s memorial service began making the rounds this morning, but it’s the person not included in the frame who caught everyone’s attention: As anyone with two eyes and a Twitter account has noticed, Michelle Obama does not appear amused. Of course, though a picture says a thousand words, not all of those words are necessarily true. FLOTUS might not have even known the photo was taking place. Or she could disapprove of funeral selfies. Either way.
Just how much do many Hollywood liberals hate conservatives? In an interview with Playboy, Ben Affleck said, "When I watch a guy [on film] I know is a big Republican, part of me thinks, I probably wouldn’t like this person if I met him": PLAYBOY: You developed a political profile campaigning for presidential candidates Al Gore, John Kerry and Barack Obama. How did that come about? AFFLECK: I grew up in a house with a mother who was a teacher and a Freedom Rider—very left-wing Democrats living in a heterogeneous working-class neighborhood. I picked up a lot of those values there, and I
MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry opened her program over the weekend with a commentary about the Affordable Care Act’s colloquial moniker: “Obamacare.” She said that the word was originally created as a “derogatory term,” designed by white men as a way to delegitimize President Barack Obama and his achievement. However, she said that the term will soon be synonymous with all of Obama’s accomplishments and she urged her audience to use the term with pride. “I want to talk today about a controversial word. It’s a word that has been with us for years, and like it or not, it’s indelibly
Barack Obama has arrived in South Africa to lead the American delegation at a memorial service for former South African President Nelson Mandela in Johannesburg. But his party is reportedly stuck in traffic and he is said to have arrived late at the stadium for the ceremony. [Snip] But Mr Clinton, Mr Carter and his wife Rosalynn have all traveled separately to the event. According to reports, Mr Obama and his delegation are stuck in a lines of traffic caused by tens of thousands of people making their way to the event. Mr Obama is among the foreign leaders who
