The govt can do nothing to prevent churches from voicing opinions. It has happened for years with Democrat supporting churches. The only ones ever threatened are the ones who have anything other than Liberal talking points -- and that is VERY unconstitutional.

Good news. The black churches never stopped endorsing polical candidates. Now all houses of worship can do it.

None of this would even be in question if Judge Roberts hadn't done such a half ass job on the Obamacare ruling. Now it'll be coming back to him at some point based on religious freedom.The Amish got a religious carve out and maybe musloms also.Obama and the left hates real Christians,so of course they were targeted. These people have to be forced to pay or there won't be enough funding for this hairbrain scheme.

The last two sundays the priest has talked about the preciousness of life and that we must protect it. More emphasis on end of life issues because MA wants a suicide law.
But this week I heard a woman, hands encased in diamonds, very expensive clothing, claim she wasn't voting for Romney because he is all about the wealthy.
As I watched her parkinsoned head shake throughout mass, I wondered if she realized she is on the list of people (elderly and sick)who might not get the healthcare she wants with the dems in power.
And she obviously had no regard for defending life.

Time to stand up to those who want to silence the church in the name of the imagined concept of "separation" of church and state. Freedom of religion has been turned 180 degrees in its meaning based on that erroneous concept. Time to right that wrong.

OP - it seems to me that your comment raises a distinction without a difference. Constitutionally, government cannot interfere with the practice of religion. In addition, any person is free to say whatever he wishes. So the IRS has no legal footing for the anti politicking rule. It is obviously unconstitutional.

The left has tried to subvert the constitutional religious protections to say the religion cannot interfere with government, in order to give government control over the practice of religion.

Separation of Church and State--means only that we are not forced to ALL belong to ONE religion as was the case back in cherrie old England. Too many think otherwise.

The prohibition on political speech for religious-based 501(c)(3) corporations has never made sense and reeks of 60's era impositions of freedom FROM religion. There are 29 different 501(c) non-profit corporations. Guess which ones are prohibited from engaging in political activity? Answer: 501(c)(3) religious organizations. Guess which ones aren't prohibited from engaging in political activity? Answer: All the rest, including 501(c)(5) labor organizations, 501(c)(1) federal credit unions and 501(c)(11) teacher retirement funds. Yet another example of how the Right always agrees to play with one hand tied behind its back.

Agree, #10. "Non-profits" are out of control in a big way. There is no way to stop them selectively, so the entire concept must end. If we don't stop this they will end up owning us all (those of us who have to compete and pay taxes, that is).

The IRS can stuff it, they have zero jurisdiction on speech, their job, and they do a poor one, is to collect taxes fairly...
