| With many residents left homeless after the devastation from last week’s storm, New York-area officials began focusing on Sunday on another weather-related factor that might make the problems even worse: colder weather that is moving into the region. In New York, 30,000 to 40,000 people, mainly residents of public housing, will have to find new homes, Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg said at a news conference with Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo on Sunday. Mr. Bloomberg compared it to the situation after Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans.“I don’t know that anybody has ever taken this number of people

This is OUTRAGEOUS. Katrina was FAR better handled than this. A tragedy and a travesty. Bush didn't go for photo ops like Obama. Yet who is worse off. There should be he%$ to pay. Obama and Bloomberg should be held accountable- but that won't happen. Absolutely no planning and they had 10 days to prepare.

The Law of Natural Selection ... We are all born to die, some young, some old. But in dieing we are born to eternal life, and having accepted Jesus as your personal savior, you will enter his Father's house.

These victims in the bastions of liberalism are now seeing how they can depend upon government when the rubber meets the road. I hope all turns out well for them but "the chickens have come home to roost" perhaps.
While they complain about the devastation that nature has wrought overnight and their misplaced devotion to government for salvation, they support government liberals like the Democrats who destroy the rest of us little by little. Just what devastation has the liberal voters in New Jersey and New York brought upon US through the election and support of Obama. And who will save US if he is elected once again? Huh? Here's praying that their stupidity in voting doesn't extend to their ability to survive in a natural disaster.

Obama will make sure you are cared for, well maybe if you are in a swing state. A safe state like New York - not so much.

Hurricane Ike cut through parts of the coastal islands around Galveston. There weren't more dead because the people largely followed instructions and evacuated. It boggles my mind that, in such a populated area as Staten Island, they haven't systematically searched to remove dead bodies 6 days after the storm.
A lot more than 30 to 40,000 were provided shelter in the Houston area after Katrina.

Since Obama has relegated the U.S. to second class citizenship on the world stage, has any foreign nation offered to help the east coast residents affected by Hurricane Sandy?

So some of the 47% that are the purchased votes, are now not able to help themselve? What did anyone expect? Same thing happened down here in N.O. And note, the ones helping are ordinary volunteer citizens, not the Government!

They are supposed to help themselves? How? If government has any roles to play, this is one of them. The local governments first, of course. Protecting the health and safety of the citizens is not a Democrat or Republican issue. What's next, should we stop funding police and firemen because people should have had smoke alarms or should have shot an intruder?

The most unfortunate thing is that this was the 1st hurricane that has EVER hit the United States. I mean, how could Obama and Bloomberg have known what would be required since this has never happened before??? And WHO would have ever thought that a hurricane in the Atlantic Ocean would actually have salt water??? And who would have expected that it would be cold in November??? And who would have expected unions to turn helpers from other states away unless they agreed to be a part of their union??? Unions have never acted solely on their own behalf. Who would have expected FEMA's response to be entirely inadequate and driven by bureaucratic red tape - especially after brock told them not to??? So please people, cut these poor politicians some slack because they were so unprepared. This has just never happened in our entire history. Now go get some hot chocolate and cookies from the Red Cross.

Darwin lives! Since I am a South Florida native, perhaps I have a better view of what a hurricane can do than most yankees. But for crying out loud! These folks had a week to prepare for this storm. The dangers were presented and the average adult should be able to react to the threat. Stocking up on food, water and fuel are common sense. If you are told to evacuate, you go! The loss of a home is a different matter. Shelters are set up as temporary shelter. Friends and family will help out. But, maybe thats just a redneck thing. After Andrew, some folks went weeks without power. Me included.

The president hasn’t attempted to distance himself from the Associated Press snooping campaign. To the contrary, he offered “no apologies.” To be blunt, he approves the most invasive breach of the First Amendment against any news organization in the history of the republic. No president has tried this and for good reason. We now have yet another media abuse story, in a way much more severe. The Post breaks the story that the Obama administration indulged in excruciatingly invasive spying on James Rosen of Fox News and, in an unprecedented move, asserted that his newsgathering is criminal.

WASHINGTON – The Internal Revenue Serviced scandal today spread further within the White House and closer to President Obama. White House spokesman Jay Carney today disclosed that Obama’s chief of staff, Dennis McDonough, and other top White House officials had advance warning that the IRS was targeting conservative groups. But he insisted McDonough and the other White House officials purposely kept Obama out of the loop.McDonough “rightly chose not to take action” to inform Obama, Carney told reporters at the daily White House briefing.

A senior adviser to President Obama mounted a combative defense of the administration on Sunday, saying the controversies enveloping the White House were the result of Republican lawmakers’ trying to “drag Washington into a swamp of partisan fishing expeditions, trumped-up hearings and false allegations.”The remarks came from Dan Pfeiffer, a member of the president’s inner circle, as he appeared on all five major Sunday morning talk shows in an effort to move the administration past what commentators have described as a “hell week” of controversy and missteps.

In the days since the Internal Revenue Service first disclosed that it had targeted conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status, new information has emerged from both the Treasury Inspector General’s report and congressional testimony Friday that calls into question key statements made by Lois G. Lerner, the IRS’s director of the exempt organizations division. The clumsy way the IRS disclosed the issue as well as Lerner’s press briefing by phone were seen at the time as a public relations disaster.

The Obama administration’s sudden plunge into scandal territory has two aspects — the actual and the political. The first, and most important, has to do with what actually happened. Why did the administration promulgate a false account of the terror attack on Benghazi? Why did the Internal Revenue Service target conservative groups for special scrutiny? Why did the Justice Department act in an unprecedented fashion toward The Associated Press for publishing details of a foiled terror plot the White House was planning to discuss openly the next day?

PRESIDENT OBAMA: You are the mantle of Frederick Douglass and Booker T. Washington and Ralph Bunche and Langston Hughes and George Washington Carver and Ralph Abernathy and Thurgood Marshall and, yes, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. These men were many things to many people and they knew full well the role that racism played in their life. The Washington Post on Monday reported that Obama’s Department of Justice was investigating journalists before they started wiretapping the Associated Press – for one, Fox News correspondent James Rosen in 2010. Their headline wasn´t "Obama Team Also Spied on Fox News." Fox wasn´t in the headline, on A-1 or on A-12, where the story continued. Newly obtained court documents “reveal how deeply investigators explored the private communications of a working journalist — and raise the question of how often journalists have been investigated as closely as Rosen was in 2010.” Reporter Ann Marimow began:

The wheels came off the Obama administration yesterday. We learned of a startling assault on freedom of the press by the Department of Justice, following the revelation last week of the unprecedented information-gathering foray by that department against The Associated Press. Then, a few minutes later, the Justice Department’s inspector general released a report declaring that the US attorney in Arizona used the leak of a confidential memo to try to discredit a whistleblower in the notorious “gun-walking” scandal known as Fast and Furious (which got two federal agents killed). The leak was called “egregious.”

Stuart Varney said this morning on "Varney & Co." that one of his producers was given a questionnaire with some surprisingly intrusive questions on it when he switched doctors. One of the questions was whether he/she was concerned about unsecured weapons in the home. Another asked whether he/she was "in a relationship in which you have been physically hurt or are you afraid of your partner?" Judge Andrew Napolitano explained that the question about guns comes out of a post-Sandy Hook executive order by President Obama, but it will be required under Obamacare. Varney expressed amazement

While many Americans were tuned into news coverage of the massive damage from tornadoes ravaging the state of Oklahoma, Rhode Island Democratic Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse took to the Senate floor to rail against his Republican colleagues for denying the theory of anthropogenic global warming. Whitehouse spent 15 minutes chastising GOP senators and justified his remarks by alluding to states that seek federal assistance in the wake of natural disasters. “So, you may have a question for me,” Whitehouse said. “Why do you care? Why do you, Sheldon Whitehouse, Democrat of Rhode Island, care
