Latino Star Reaches Out To Hispanics
With Pro-life, Pro Romney Message

The star of "Bella" and "For Greater Glory" is getting political. Latino actor Eduardo Verastegui has recorded an automated call aimed at Hispanic voters blasting President Obama's position on abortion while praising GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney. The actor also released a new video today, in conjunction with the Latino Partnership for Conservative Principles and the Susan B. Anthony List, critiquing Obama for "supporting taxpayer-funded abortions and overseeing a record number of deportations."

Comments:
Eduardo is not only handsome, he's so much smarter than Obama supporter Eva Longoria

I notice the comments on article said Eduardo who? Believe me he is more well known in Hispanic communities than Eva Longoria. Before he sacrificed his career for pro-life endeavors, he was an up and coming leading man. For fans of the TV series Charmed, he played the perfect man created for one of the characters. Google his image and you'll see why.

Mil gracias Eduardo. Not all Hispanics are Democrats. Many are hard working conservative individuals with a very strong sense of values and patriotism.

If you have not seen "For Greater Glory", rent it this weekend. It's a great movie with an awesome message of freedom of religion. And it's a TRUE story.

Erm ... I think the "record number of deportations" thing is false and, if it were true, then I would applaud them. Sorry, Eduardo. I agree with you on abortion, but immigration needs to be fixed.

Just saw For Greater Glory and highly recommend it.

It has been unfortunate that so many Catholic Hispanics have not taken their religious values into the voting booth. One reason is many are poorly catechized. In Mexico and Cuba the Church has long been persecuted by atheist politicians, which has made educating people on the tenets of their faith difficult. In this nation there has sometimes been a language barrier between the priests and lay ministers running the youth education programs and Hispanic parishioners.

I know our priest is often frustrated. Badly catechized parents can lead to badly catechized children. He notes that many of our Hispanic members stop coming to services once their children receive first communion.

From Wiki:

"Verástegui is a pro-life advocate, through the organization "Mantle of Faith". Verástegui recounts an anecdote about his beliefs: supposedly, he was offered a role in a certain film and had gone to an abortion clinic to "research his role", but, shocked by what he saw, he dropped the idea of taking part in the film altogether. On his way out, he saw a pro-life rally that introduced him to a Hispanic couple who were going to the clinic for an abortion. The campaigners offered that Verástegui try to convince the couple by talking to them in their native Spanish. He says that, recognizing him from his telenovela roles on Mexican television, they reconsidered their decision and went home without going ahead with the abortion. Immediately after their child was born, they called him to tell him the good news and thanking him and asking for his permission to name the child Eduardo after him. He also made a point of meeting "little Eduardo" weeks later."

Awesome. How many celebrities use their power for non-self-aggrandizing motives?

He is so handsome. My husband is Puerto Rican and finds abortion disgusting, so disgusting he can not discuss it. When I told him about partial birth abortion he was shocked. He could never support any politician that supports/promotes that.

He kept his word."

In the wake of this week´s false AP tweet about explosions at the White House, Bloomberg´s Jared Keller and Evan Applegate offer a look at how "false tweets" can move markets, sending stocks spiking or crashing in an instant. "The AP hack highlights the potential pitfalls of relying on social networks for tradable information, but false tweets have been affecting markets and companies for the past few years," they write. "In some cases the impact of false tweets can be immediate. On August 6, 2012: A Twitter account claiming to be that of Russian Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev

"State officials confirmed last night that Tsarnaev, slain in a raging gun battle with police last Friday, was receiving benefits along with his wife, Katherine Russell Tsarnaev, and their 3-year-old daughter.

“He looks like me,” my son, Shibli, 10, said as we looked at a photo of a young Dzhokhar Tsarnaev flash upon the TV screen Friday night. Indeed, with his innocent eyes and rumple of dark curly hair, he did. As an American, a Muslim, a mother, and an aunt to a nephew on the cusp of manhood, my heart just broke for yet another boy lost in our Muslim community, taking with him the lives of others. Enough, enough, enough, I say, with the CYA—Cover Your A**—strategy in our Muslim communities.

Boudin, 69, this year won another academic laurel — being named the Sheinberg Scholar-in-Residence at NYU Law School, where last month she gave a lecture on “the politics of parole and re-entry.” Boudin’s bounce-back into respectability after her 2003 parole comes to light a week before the release of Robert Redford’s movie

Former Rep. Anthony Weiner, whose career in public life came to an abrupt end when he sent lewd pictures to a college student on Twitter, jumped back into politics on Wednesday by announcing a bid for mayor of New York City. “Look, I’ve made some big mistakes and I know I’ve let a lot of people down,” the Democrat said in a 2-minute video announcing his bid. “But I’ve also learned some tough lessons. I’m running for mayor because I’ve been fighting for the middle class and those struggling to make it for my entire life.

The wheels came off the Obama administration yesterday. We learned of a startling assault on freedom of the press by the Department of Justice, following the revelation last week of the unprecedented information-gathering foray by that department against The Associated Press. Then, a few minutes later, the Justice Department’s inspector general released a report declaring that the US attorney in Arizona used the leak of a confidential memo to try to discredit a whistleblower in the notorious “gun-walking” scandal known as Fast and Furious (which got two federal agents killed). The leak was called “egregious.”

WASHINGTON – A top IRS official in the division that reviews nonprofit groups will invoke the Fifth Amendment and refuse to answer questions before a House committee investigating the agency’s improper screening of conservative nonprofit groups. Lois Lerner, the head of the exempt organizations division of the IRS, won’t answer questions about what she knew about the improper screening – or why she didn’t reveal it to Congress, according to a letter from her defense lawyer, William W. Taylor 3rd. Lerner was scheduled to appear before the House Oversight committee Wednesday.

The dam protecting the IRS scandal began to crack today when Lois Lerner, the IRS official who announced, and apologized for, the improper singling out of conservative-leaning organizations by IRS employees under her command, announced through her criminal defense lawyer that she will not testify as scheduled tomorrow before the House Oversight Committee. Rather, she will assert her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination. This marks an enormous milestone in the IRS investigation. It can now be taken as more or less established that crimes were committed by Obama administration employees. Lerner’s lawyer tried to minimize the significance

Former Democratic National committee chairman Howard Dean considers the controversy over Benghazi a “joke” and “silly.” “Benghazi is a laughable joke,” Dean proclaimed twice in a discussion with Republican National Committee communications chairman Sean Spicer last week. “With all due respect, governor, when four Americans die serving this country, that’s not a joke, sir,” Spicer responded. “Oh, stop it,” said Dean. The former Democratic presidential candidate also said that there were “no serious questions being asked about Benghazi” and brushed it off as an effort by Republicans to score political points.
