Utility workers pelted with eggs

mayor blasts provider

Angry residents pelted utility crews with eggs as they tried to restore power in Bridgeport, Conn., after the mayor claimed the local power company had "shortchanged" the state's largest city as it tries to recover from superstorm Sandy. United Illuminating workers reported eggs and other objects being thrown at them a day after Mayor Bill Finch said the utility was taking care of wealthy suburbs while his constituents suffered. The unrest caused United Illuminating to pull its workers out until the city agreed to provide police protection.

Having lived through worse conditions than these folks are facing living on gulf coast most of my life you do not upset these workers who have a hard enough job as it is.

The utility workers can probably be more productive elsewhere. Put these morons at the bottom of the priority list.

Not sure if this is one of the places that would not allow non-union crews in to help. If so, instant karma. If not, my bad.

There's no excuse for this kind of behavior-I don't care what kind of trauma you've lived through.

When our area had a major ice storm and we were without power for a week, we made our work crew hot chocolate ( fireplace) in appreciation. Not sure how throwing eggs is going to work out for these people

Obama's Class Warfare Jargon even applies to Conn. utility workers here? Poor Obama's Class Warfare has been taken to a new level here. Hopefully voters will be able to remedy this on Nov, 6th. by voting this charlatan out of office for good?

Wonder why this kind of behavior isn't being shown? Or the hardships caused by the storm...

Oh, yeah. It might make the President, who flew over and made a quick stop in NJ look bad. You know, like he only visited for a photo op. Or something...

For anyone who thought that Sandy would help 0bama, oh really, REALLY? In fact, scenes such as this and gas lines and shortages are so negative that they are getting less and less airtime even as they become more frequent.

Some things never change.

January 2003: Bridgeport's mayor, Joseph P. Ganim, will be on trial on 24 counts of federal bribery, corruption and racketeering charges, the fourth big-city Connecticut mayor in 13 years to face criminal charges.
Sentenced to nine years in Club Fed.

June 2006: Bridgeport Mayor John M. Fabrizi admitted to cocaine and alcohol abuse while serving as mayor.

May 2007: Fabrizi announced he would not seek re-election, but served on the Democratic State Central Committee of Connecticut for the 2008-2010 term. Currently, Fabrizi is a supporter of Bridgeport's current Mayor Bill Finch.

October 2012: Mayor Bill Finch, of Bridgeport CT, was caught joking about corruption saying, “We will get the votes even if they are a few days late”.

The common thread? All are DemocRATS.

The people of Bridgeport are getting the governemtn they deserve.

The true irony, folks. From the front lines. I live in one of those "wealthy" burbs to which the dimwit mayor refers.
No electricity still. Have not seen a single utility truck yet. And you know why? They're all in freaking, non tax paying Bridgeport!
No words for how angry this news story makes me.

Well, maybe Connecticut would be willing to take the kind, caring, generous non-union Alabama utility workers that New Jersey found so abhorrent and turned away.

These people are unreal. The level of entitlement mentality is simply off the charts.

The more I hear about and from some of these "Sandy" victims...the less concern and respect I have for them. Let's see you are without power, someone is there trying to restore it and you throw eggs at them. WTH??? I live in Houston and in Ike and Alicia, our home was without power for 2 weeks. There was NEVER any behavior remotely similar to this anywhere in TX. Is this how all "yankees" behave? or just the repulsive liberal progressive ones? I'm appalled that these people are Americans. That mayor is repulsive and so are these people throwing eggs a blight/pox(deservingly so) on all their(liberal progressive) houses.

I'm in Louisiana and have been through several hurricanes as well as an ice storm when i lived ni Mississippi. That people would attack those who are there to help and working long hours in dangerous conditions is absurd and shows the real 47% entitlement mentality. Pack up and leave guys. It would be extremely interesting to learn what is in the minds of those throwing eggs at utility workers trying to restore power. Have any of the egg tossers been interviewed by the media? I would really like to know what their justification is for behavior that seems obviously counterproductive. There must be an angle here I am missing. Nobody is that stupid, not even Obama supporters.

Well. . .maybe I should reserve judgment. The kinds of people who vote for Obama have in the past been known to burn down their own neighborhoods and attack firemen if they are unhappy with something. But that is riot and mob mentality. I have never before heard of people throwing eggs at utility workers who are there to restore their power for them.

If they have a beef with the utility company, go to the office go to the higher ups. If I was on one of those trucks, I would have gotten in my truck and left for my own safety, they can sit in the dark.

Very telling. Kudos to #24. End Times prophecy: But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them.

It is not an optimistic scenario.

According to San Diego Unified School District spokesman Jack Brandais, a group of students at Audubon Elementary School in the Lomita area were playing a game of “dare” in the cafeteria, urging one another to put different ingredients into their milk to see who could keep the milk down without vomiting. Brandais said the ingredients included hot sauce, salt, pepper, carrots and other vegetables being served at lunch.

Carson, the former director of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital, recalls the events surrounding his 2013 speech in his new book, One Nation: What We Can All Do To Save America’s Future. President Obama inspired a generation of young people to support his historic election in 2008. And in 2012, despite the struggles of his first term, Mr. Obama still managed to win the support of a full 60% of voters age 18-29. But the man who once dreamed of being a transformative leader in the Reagan mold is inspiring few of those young people to follow his lead. "For all the talk about the movement that elected Mr. Obama, the more notable movement of Obama supporters has been away from politics. It appears that few of the young people who voted

The Bureau of Land Management has been charging him grazing fees since the early 1990s, which he has refused to pay. Further, BLM has issued orders limiting the area on which Bundy’s cows can

Although the Civil Rights Act, the landmark legislation which just reached its 50th anniversary, made great strides in desegregating the economy, economic discrimination is still widespread, and anti-discrimination legislation alone can never rectify the economic damage inflicted upon blacks by slavery and our Jim Crow apartheid regime. The Civil Rights Act was a mild reform, all things considered, but one conservatives fought with vigor and one many conservatives are still bitter about to this day. When the Civil Rights Act passed in 1964, the primary purpose was to root out discrimination in public accommodations (like hotels and movie theaters)
